Well, it looks like a bus, so it should handle like a bus. The Carrack is so much fatter when compared to the concept art, i dont really like it. The Conecpt was more sleek and the iconic "wings" were much larger compared to the ships body. CIG had to cram to much stuff into the ship, in order to make all its functions work.

I'm fine with how it handles. It's covered in turrets and has a snub bay plus she's pretty tanky. It was silly before, you could practically low fly the thing like the C2. I kinda hope they really lean into bigger = slower with cap ships. The Jav should feel like moving a mountain but absolutely destroys anything that comes near it.

I mean, all of it's functionality isn't even there yet, so it can't be dead, it's never been alive. The Med Bed still heals more than the rover bed, so it still has a purpose. The Polaris is a corvette torpedo boat, the Carrack is designed to explore and find undiscovered wormholes. If this game ends up being what it should, there should be competition between all manufacturers for similar role ships, so there will (and should) be a lot of redundancy.

I still have my Carrack. It survived the Galaxy, Polaris, and even the Odessy. I'll never get rid of it. Even if it dies... my Carrack is Home. C8R and Nursa make mine a full-blown mobile medical hospital to be deployed where ever.

Just make the side doors open CIG. Actually if they make it so ships will not blow up any more then Haulers will use nothing but the Carrack because you can not get the cargo out of it.

I agree the side door hatches of the pods need to open. They also need to detach like they were supposed to so you can easily drop them off where you want to make an outpost and just get started while the Carrack keeps watch from above. So much potential, and I don't see how these other ships are still better. just because they're newer?

It does feel like the carrack has just been... forgotten about. There are rooms that are meant to do stuff and they simply don't. I hope whenever exploration is properly introduced along with jump points then it will find its light again. But for now it is a shadow of its past self. The fact it cant store any cargo now in 3.23 is nothing short of criminal.

The carrack was the first big ship I purchased with new cash, with that said I call it the make believe ship. It just needs a rework, alot of wasted space. I don't really see the point of having two bridges in a ship of that size. It also needs a second ground entrance

@@lestrike2707 absolutely. There is still a lot more to this ship. I'm Personally looking forward to the drone and repair rooms to be functional. Once radar data sharing between ships is implemented, this ship will be a nice center point for many fleets.

Nope ... I will hold the line . The Carrack has a bright future and has a tier 2 medbed and 2 tier 3's when it gets the gold standard pass.

Yes, because when two or more guys die simultaneously, they also respawn simultaneously in the carrack and often are stuck in the same body with only one being able to move.

One things for sure, the future biggies owe a mountain of thanks to the lessons learned from the Carrack, 890, Reclaimer, all designed before gameplay loops. They were needed to showcase CiGs skill, help fuel the dream and fund the future. CiG will return to honor the legacy ships.... i mean the Retali.... opps, well the Freelancer update...... errrrrr ...... but LOOK at how shiny the new ones are!!!

You don't want much more than a tinge or it will ruin the overall flavour of the Carrack!

This happens every time when a developer dont have any idea at all what to do, every time when they act b4 thinking, every time.

Itll be an heirloom (jpeg) to passdown to your grandkids before its done.

Thats why we need AI blades and NPC crew. Some people dont wanna realize it, but nearly noone wants to sit 99% of its time idle to watch someone playing. Also they have the wrong priorities and get nothing done.

The endless times I fell through the Carrack into the void, while quantum travelling, and the subsequent hours wait for it's reclaim at the console in a remote station where I respawned...

Nah, the Carrack isn't dead. She's hybernating until gameplay is added to the ship. ;-) That ship is my home, a small base on its own right. There are only two contenders to that role in my fleet: the Ironclad Assault, which is a good base for deep space operations, but kinda lacks the "home" thing. The other one is the Polaris that ALSO can act as a deep space operation base and comes with roughly the same features plus much, much, much more firepower. It even feels like home. However, it's running cost will be prohibitive, so I doubt I'll pull 'er from hangar that often unless a military task is at hand and the firepower is needed for a organization wide event. In other words: it's up the player what ship "is dead" and what is not. In case of my Carrack: she's waiting for her day to shine.

The carrack lore is unique. Every carrack has a secret history in the UEE military. Every Carrack was build and used by the UEE Navy before sold to civilian customers.

Feelings I’ve too felt this patch. One day, when exploring new jump points is a thing, she shall return… but by then I’ll likely be dead.

Of course its inadequate to the Polaris, that's a warship, the Carrack is a pathfinder. Two totally different beasts. I wanted the Galaxy anyways, at least its bridge isn't up front.

We will see you again when it comes to find new jump points. Maybe in my grandchildren's lifetime.

People forget the carrack is entirely for scanning and creating maps. It just happens to have a lot of utility to it

The Carrack is the same as it ever was. An exploration ship with the ability to respawn made for a small group of friends. It still has modularity, drones, and exploration on the horizon. Losing the uniqueness of respawning was always going to happen once other ships with T2 and T1 beds came out of concept.

This game is a wild ride man. "He check out this ship you can get for $1000. OOPS, the game still isn't released, but other things we are making make that thing you spent $1000 on totally useless."

Who would waste $1000 for some ugly multiplayer online MMO ship of some game that is not even installed on your computer but 100% streamed from some server (which means nothing you pay money for will ever truly belong to you, nothing you have paid for is ever permanently your PROPERTY but can get changed or even switched off and removed with no excuse and no payback)? This video made me chuckle. But one day we shall toast our Lux once again in the mess hall in the Carrack!

The carrack will be dramatically better at traveling around than most ships unless you have a hull C or whatever dedicated to long distances wich is dramaticaly less useful and practical to exploration.

Nerfed by the Ursa Rover is crazy.

I have the Carrack as a loaner for my galaxy. My only qualms? Limited firepower and a limit to ground vehicle carrying capacity. It does act as a good assault ship for raids. But even then eventually the Perseus and Polaris will be able to fill the assault ship role far greater. The Perseus with its giant guns, and the Polaris being a good all rounder.

It's because the Carrack is the only all around ship in the game. No other ship has as many planned features as the Carrack, it's not meant to be an assault ship, it's an explorer and explorers need to be able to do everything. The Carrack has a crafting bench, medbay, advanced scanner systems, drone bay, storage that doesn't take a pad, ground vehicle, aerial vehicles and other features that I can't even think of.

I still love my carrack, and I'm still going to keep mine. After 3.23 it will need a update though.

I bought the Galaxy simply for the Carrack loaner, I’m ready for Galaxy now

As a scammer psychic I see a gold pass coming in Carrack future, 1 component changes to capital, Drones that work, Lighting rework, Maybe a small size bump to top section/hanger, Armory moved closer to front section but not close enough. Modules that are also bugged, a ramp that is still bugged & flips the ship. ~ Plz look forward to it™

I'm still have hope for the upgrades to be installed. I hate there are no pilot controlled weapons, all these other big ships have them. Still love the Carrack though.

Are we going to get a loaner for the Carrack in 3.23.2 since using it for cargo will be impossible given the pods have no side doors or lifts/elevators for manual cargo loading and unloading - and the lift/elevator from pod floor to balcony becomes inaccessible when parts of the pod have cargo?

I think the Carrack is far from dead. When they do it's rework, because they have no choice but to with physicalized cargo. Once exploration is actually a thing and drones are added in the game the Carrack will be great again. But yes, CIG does a great job ruining ships for years at a time thanks to the lack of working game features. Excellent video, as always.

Well, when you can change out the cargo for another module, the bay has rearm/refuel ability and it's fabrication room can...fabricate, it'll be more viable. I suspect Drake will be next year's manufacturer of choice, so the probably won't get any of that anytime soon.

My ship is dead? I haven't even gotten to play it once yet.

Don't count the Carrack out just yet. I got it. It has some problems at the moment but once modules come along and it gets a gold pass, it will shine again!

Since exploration game play isn't in-game yet, the only real use for the Carrack has been cargo... and now, unless something is planned for 3.23.2 that we don't know about yet, the ship won't even be viable for that. The ship becomes effectively no different than a concept.

I don't use the Carrack much, it's too big for most of the missions I do. It's probably the biggest ship I'll ever fly, all the capital ships that people get hyped for don't interest me much nor do I plan on having a need for one. I'll likely spend more time using a Pisces to shuttle between ports than I would use the Carrack, but it'll always be a cool ship to me.

the damn realisting atmospheric flight model is not even here yet, all the ships will feel different on surface ones that implemented, people dont realize how different these ships will feel, will work and whats concidered average might become amazing later on, game is not built around the ships yet,nevermind the modules

I liked the more slender look of the concept pics. But nevertheless it´s a fine ship. Maybe one day there will be a rework... Anyone had a glimpse of the Pyro Tech Demo? I guess the Carrack will be very useful in hostile environments and with it´s retractable Cockpit Armor (Keyword: Sunflares) could go where no ship has gone before...

I loved my carrack but I CCUd it to a Polaris I can't solo either and now have a hammerhead I can't use alone for the mean time instead lol.

I now feel depressed for those that own such a beautiful, questionably inadequate ship.

LOL! This was funny, but I mean, the Carrack is one of the ships that's gone longest without an update. Once it gets a gold pass, I'm sure it'll be quite useful again. The cargo pods will open, the back will have an elevator that extends to the ground, and it's supposed to get drones of some kind? I still use mine for all kinds of shenanigans. Personally, I think it needs a slight buff in terms of firepower because as it is, it's a very juice easy target.

if you gonna follow this road then you will keep scrapping ships every time new one comes out,if you like carrack then keep it, of course they will adjust it to be on par with other ships, for example it might have the best fuel range of any ship ever and they will probably even buff it to compete against other large ships

@@Gdsm9 well im just saying it to everyone, dont think of getting rid of it, i wish i never bought several ships until now because i just want to fly polaris and other ships are useless to me, carrack is not done yet and like i said in other comment, we dont even have reallistic flight model in atmosphere so imagine how different ever ship will feel on surface after that- you will have ships that will be a pain to control vs some thats gonna be great

there is still hope for a old ship.. Cargo pods, Cartography, Route plotting, protected cockpit.. noo don't trow it away it will fit like a old shoe with new bells and whistles.

To be honest ive always thought the carrak was dead but thats only because most ships now are able to do a two way trip to and from anywhere in stanton. Once pyro comes along i think itll hop back in the meta for exploration as there wont be that many ships that can quantum from lets say microtech to pyro jump point then go through the jump gate and quantum across pyro's verse without refueling like the carrak will be able to do with ease. But i also think they need to dial back on how much quantum ships should have currently for that reason above.

The Carrack's early concept images is what got me into Star Citizen. My first let-down was the design turning into some sort of orca looking thing then the ship outright being unusable . . . I too will have to say goodbye. Its in need of a serious redesign, I'm positive no one will complain.

they definedly botched its look from concept art, i hated this thing when it came out, if you go for good looking design check the polaris maybe, they almost didnt mess it up so at leasr the exterior is looking decent
