    Great looking/sounding guitar. Will they be making any with bigger than their standard "medium" frets. I know that's what they put on everything but I love big frets. Thanks.

    The fact they actually suggested to him to ship the guitar with 13s just blows my mind :D ! Awesome company, awesome guitar for an awesome guy and player.

    @@Zakkiss Sure, sure. And it's totally unnecessary for most people. But it would make the package more faithful to the artist's, while keeping the guitar playable at stores with 10s.

    13s do feel and sound pretty amazing, they're just insanely difficult to bend with, and they start to tear your fingers to shit with long gigs.

    Ibanez really shows a lot of respect with josh smith and just how different they allowed him to go with his Signature! Unique neck, not stainless frets, Seymour pick ups and new saddles!

    It occurs to me now (having watched Josh's videos on his own channel on the FlatV) that some of the "vibe" is the direction Leo himself went in post-Fender days (esp. MM). Kudos. Love it.

    With that extended upper bout, it fixes the issue I've had with Tele's. Every one I've played had a bit of a neck dive until it's at equilibrium. I like a bit of an up-tilt when I play.

    Josh I'm a fan for a long time. I bought a PR12 because of you. I'm a lefty because I crushed my left hand 33 breaks and a great doctor I can still hold a pick with it but it was a big learning curve to pick up the guitar again after 20 years of playing right handed. I will never be what I was but I still have the passion for it. I would love to have this guitar but it has to be a lefty. I don't mind paying a premium to get one. pass it on to IBENEZ!!!!!

    I saw Josh play at Jimmy Buffett's in Key West when he was still a teenager. I think he was playing an ES 335 signed by BB King on top ? I am a guitar player too and he must have sensed it. He walked up to my table grabbed my beer bottle and played a slide solo with it right in front of me . It was very impressive and maybe he was giving me the " Bet you can't do this "too? Phenomenal blues player for being so young at the time. He looks similar to Dale Earnhardt Sr. now

    Nice Sig guitar. I do love that about Ibanez, they let artists genuinely make the decisions so they're really as the artist wants. Even if the specs don't make them as commercially appealing to the masses

    I just played one at Bay Tunes Guitars in Annapolis and plays great. But not as nice as Josh’s actual guitar I got to play at a masterclass with him in NY a few years ago. Great guy too. Top blues player of our day for sure.

He also released his book a few months back. He's super down to earth. I'm sure if found a way to reach out to him, he'd be open to doing it!

    There's a lot of loyalty, esp, in America, to the Fender brand. But if it's true what people are saying about these Ibanez t's, even the most traditionalist guitar players will have to give them a look.

    He nailed it!!! The changes do not make the guitar look less retro but to me more retro. You get all the Tele things you would want but best of all I would not feel like I have a ...'ME TOO' No. 5,000,345,670 I would love a choice of colors. Fiesta Red would give it some pop yet not be too weird for the traditional buyer.

    Et voilà, as we say in french : another great blues guitar player that Fender has missed. I would have liked to see Josh or Greg Koch playing on "real Telecaster", but I doubt Fender would have let them have all the great improvements such as Roasted Mapple neck or the luminlay dots ....

    I actually dig the headstock. Not a fan of the body. But at the end of the day the tone is what matters. And it is GOOOOOD!!!

    Ibanez is going hard after the tele market with the new Josh Smith and Lari Basilio models. Most tele players are traditionalists, though. I think the market for this guitar will be players who have never gone for a traditional guitar, but want to dip their toes into tele waters. But, what do I know?

    The issue is that this is a 2500 dollar guitar. You can get a Mexican-made Fender Tele for a third of the price and an entry American one for half.

    @@Chord_The_Seeker Given that Josh plays 13s and that he prefers the totally flat body, most probably light weight won't be a priority for him. Unless he thinks lighter guitars sound better. Well, at least he's using titanium on his bridge saddles. That will save a few grams.

    £2500 that’s a lot of money and it’s polyester finished. it’s a nice instrument the prestige range is around £1700 I believe.Hope it’s a success 👍

    Josh wanted a nitro finish but Ibanez are apparently not set up to use nitro, they did offer to give a nitro finished guitar but he declined, he wanted to play what everyone else would be playing

    I think it $2500 so maybe a bit less in £ post -Trump 🤣 The Andy Timmons Ibanez is around 2k so maybe the Josh Tele be the same . Not a Tele fan but Josh definitely draws you towards them !

    This look like a real tele bridge, the other Azs have a mini bridge and I dont know why a metal plate: separare from the bridge. This looks better

    @@ontheroad579 if you look close, the Azs has the pickup plate separate from the bridge. Maybe is a design choice to allow them to put the bridge using the same pickup plate: maybe optimizong the construction process.

    @@perrar1na I see the pickup plate separated from the bridge. But I see that on all AZs and the FlatV too. I think it's optimising the construction process as the pickup plate is the same on all the models, no matter if the bridge is fixed or with the whammy.

    @@ontheroad579 You are right, true. My fault, may need to clean my glasses. So in the end, why they did that? They said that the secret of this kind of guitar is the pickup plate, but for me this is true if the plate includes the bridge: so the string's vibrates througth all the plate.

    They let him "have free reign" on which pickups to use and he still went with the company that they always use on their AZ's anyways? Yeah right. Im sure now that he's signed he'll also eventually be forced to switch to Laney amps like the others seem to be. In most signature endorsements you dont get to pick most features of the guitar, rather youre informed on what theyre making and asked if you want your name on it.

    For those who don't know, the body shape is a rounded off version of the "failed" FR Series. Basically the whole AZS line is a rebranded FR series.
