Great band "Mastodon". Interesting hearing about how he started out playing through his dad's stereo. You don't need a lot of gear to learn and make music. My 1st amp was not an amp but rather my portable Panasonic CD/Cassette/Radio that I would plug my guitar into the Aux line in and try to jam to songs on it. My distortion was basically the speakers about to blow

Nice episode, thanks! Now that we have Captain meeting persons called Bill, the next meetable in line should be Bill Steer, the UK's national treasure and the secret weapon of modern metal, its past and present.😇😇😇
This dude is a effin riff monster! Mastodon are aging like fine wine, they just keep getting better! Thank you for this Captain!
Mastodon are by far my favorite metal band.Everyone should watch their documentaries on KZread. Can’t wait to see them with Gojira!

Lee need to be given more credit. He's such a good interviewer.
Love the Mastodon crew. Such cool, unique funny dudes. Oh and super talented too
20 or so years I been listening to these dudes...1 of the greats
I had no idea the Sheriff could sound like that! The man is awesome! Big respect to them all
Man I forgot about this channel. Years ago like 2012 ish I was looking to get a Les Paul and couldn’t justify spending the $$$ for the version with the fake ebony (richlite?) and you guys reviewed the LP classic custom which was basically a thinner neck and a baked maple board…. Point is I went with that and that video helped me with the choice. Still have that guitar and love it and have recorded a ton of music and gigged with it never let me down. Mastodon and Bill are badasses.
Somehow I missed Mastodon for years I only recently "discovered" them and now have all of their CDs! Mastodon has become on of my favorite bands, as a new guitarist I am inspired by them.
Wow these riff so intricate, original and amazing, and the way way he plays so dynamic and precise👌🏻…

@@giwrgoslepipas4041 he plays Pain With an Anchor in the beginning. Then there’s Sultan’s Curse in the end and Roots Remain in the middle when he explains riff writing
The Interview Master strikes again! This was quite a surprise. Well done, Lee, and thanks Bill for the insights.

He makes his guests feel at ease but he needs to calm down a bit, maybe a benzo or two. He stutters and stammers through questions sometimes and asks it in four different ways before he finally gives the floor to the guest.

Such great band and I love listening to Bill. Awesome, thanks.
Thank you so much for this interview. Was lucky enough to meet Bill for half a second before a show in Atlanta a few years ago. Loved the whole thing, especially hearing about his songwriting process.
One of the most humble and real guys you could ever have on and hear from! Loved this one.
Awesome interview, thank you Anderson’s👏👏👍
Great interview and questions. Bill seems well thought out and answered all the questions directly, killer.
Fantastic! Love how humble and honest BillyK is! Great video.
I love their music. Thank you for the great interview captain 🤩
I loved this video to no end. Thank you!
Great interview. Brilliant guitarist . Fantastic written riffs. with emotion
Bill is amazing. Such a good guitarist and down to earth bloke
YESSSSSS!!!!!!! Thank you so much for this interview. Mastodon is my all time fave and I got meet and greets for this upcoming tour with Gojira. Thank you so much Cap! 🙏
Bill's guitar passion is amazing...met him backstage once and he said he was pumping out one solid riff a week...many more Mastodon songs to come for sure.
Sublime interveiwing skills Captain...that video flew by and was a pleasure to watch. Great questions and and interested interviewer, you could tell Bill felt at home.
MASTODON has been my GOAT metal-band for the past 13 Years !! So 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This was an absolutely brilliant interview, and Bill seems like an really awesome guy. Lee, you are a fantastic interviewer.
This is one of the best Captain Meets episodes you guys have ever done
Thanks, Captain, for this wonderful interview. I had heard of Mastodon but never really knew much about them. But after listening to the entire interview am going to go check them out. Bill seems like a great guy and a real down-to-earth person. I really appreciated this. Thanks again.
Such a great and influential guitarist, but a hilarious interviewee as well. Looking forward to what they craft next!
Legend. One of the most understatedly brilliant songwriters, riff-writers and guitar players on the planet.
I loved this interview!! One of my favorites!! Bill has been an inspiration to me for the past 10 years after getting into Mastodon!! Their chemistry as a band is flawless!!🤘🏻
Mastodon is just the best! All the guys seem like really great people. I'm really looking forward to their next album. I love Hushed & Grim.
Awesome interview, that riff breakdown had me smiling - same root chords at Something in the way, and is also has quite a dark feel to it. Going to have to look into those lessons!
saw Mastodon at the Barfly in Cardiff(sadly now defunct),with Blood Simple and Withered in support, needless to say even in such a confined, cramped arena they played as if there were thousands in attendance.Great night, never to be repeated.
Imagine selling a guitar and bill shows up! Priceless
Good to see a legend put some respect on the Peavey name.
Holy friggin crap! didnt expect to see this one. What a treat!
This is awesome. I had a lesson with Bill before a show in Brixton once and he was a great guy. I've also got one of his signature Goldenaxe explorers (which I have brought into Andertons at some point for trying out gear!)
Awesome interview, truly enjoyed it.
Thank you Bill, for remembering me, why I still feel so home in Punkrock music!
Just watched this interview and want to say to the Captain: you are a fabulous interviewer! You let Bill TALK as much as he wanted (which was happily, quite a lot) without interrupting him and you asked questions that he was really into answering and elaborating on. The interview was delightful. Thank you Captain and Bill!
What a decent bloke. Cool chats. :) I wonder what high school -era Rabea would have said if you told him Bill Kelliher will be using the Kraken amp you will help design?!
This was one of the best The Captain meets videos. Bill is a really cool down to earth dude. I remember seeing Mastodon open for local bands in my area in tiny clubs right before the first album came out. They deserve all the success that goes their way , monster work ethic. Great band great guys. I can vouch for the Mojo Tone pickups I have them in a Rock N Roll Relics Heart-Breaker ( they make them for RNRR ) they sound fantastic.
Bill's guitar journey mirrors mine so closely , as I also started with punk and new wave and my first "amp" was the mic. input of my dad's Akai tape deck and we're nearly the same age. It's great seeing you appreciating Mastodon. Now I know why Pete has been playing a couple of their riffs in recent videos! 😉
Cool interview! Time just flies ! Rock on !
i love bill and the rest of the mastodon guys! this is also the first time ive heard victory amps sound good.
Mr. Kelliher's history is very similar to my musical journey. I've loved Mastodon for years now. Cheers for the interview.
Really happy to see you have Bill on here. He's great.
I remember in highschool I had guitar class, and I remember I had a few of my friends that learned eruption and all the mainstream solos and I still stuck to what I loved and what moved me.
Bill is the man ..being from Rochester NY ...we look up to him and are extremely proud to be near were he came from
Awesome what a delightful interview !
Yes!! more like this please!
I know I’m 11 months late, but I’m your winner 🏆! Great interview!
Dude, you're the best. Your band is my favorite band. I play like me and y'all play similar and it's great to have that camaraderie even though it's the one-way street in this case. But man thanks for everything a freaking big thank you to everything you do as your music is the bee's knees. I love you guys so much, you don't understand. Maybe you do but you guys are heroes to the people with big dreams. You guys remind me of like everyone's cool uncle it really get a kick from you guys ever awesome. See you in April! Till then, from the lone Star State.. take care, be safe
HOLY THIS IS AWESOME. mastodon my best band when it comes to heavy and technical riffs
Ridiculously excited to hear this thorough of an interview with Bill. Such an incredible guy, from my favorite band of all time. Also I’m not an LTD/ESP guy, but holy fuck my Sparrowhawk is my favorite guitar I own now.
absolutely awesome interview and Bill is such a humble and real guy... Leviathan is my favourite album, so much so that I bought a guitar amp from Ceriatone, a 100w 3 channel Leviathan that's a clone of Bill's Friedman Butterslax, the best hi gain amp I've ever owned
Awesome, thank you!!🦞🦞🦞
Two legends in one room. Bill you're the best, thanks for all the sick riffs
That victory is freaking amazing.. it just does it all.. heck of an am
What an absolute legend. I do adore Mastodon as they're one of my top favourite metal bands. I did manage to get Crack the Skype signed by him after a guitar clinic he did in Birmingham back in 2017 I believe and he was awesome and what a pleasure to meet one of my favourite bands' musicians.
What a great guy. Top player and writer, and a humble, good human being too. Respect.
Excellent video!! Mastodon makes incredible music 🤟😎🍻💯🔥🔥🔥
As soon as I saw you had Bill on, my jaw dropped. I wasn't disappointed. Really interesting interview
One of the coolest guys ever. Love his wisdom
Bill is not just a bad ass.....he knows his stuff. Great interview Captain.
I saw these guys in the early 00’s and I never would imagine they’d become such a prolific band. They deserve it.
Another well done interview...congrats..
nice, dude lives in my hood, see him from time to time, he came and ate at the mexican restaraunt i worked at last year once too

Im not much of a metal dude, but I really appreciate it more now... what a great guy and awesome interview... Thank you for this
