It's a shame that we only get Bill's vocals when he does backing live, but he's said that he'd rather get into a real groove on the guitar. All of the guys have got great and distinctive vocal character. I've loved listening to the changes in style as they have gone through the albums, it never gets stale and I can always go back to an album and enjoy it again. The albums from Call of the Mastodon to Blood Mountain scratch the heavy itch, and the mixture of prog, hard rock and psychedelia going from Crack the Skye all the way up to Hushed and Grim is amazing.

Bill is an unsung legend of the RIFF. I’ve always been much more enthralled by players who write catchy, complex, heavy, *musical* riffs (without OVERdoing it) than by the two handed tappers, sweep pickers and 5-minute solo players. That stuff is cool and impressive, but it’s never been what grabs me. Bill is THAT guy and it sounds like he took that same approach when he was younger, eschewing EVH for East Bay Ray and Greg Ginn. Loved this interview. Thanks ✌🏻❤️

Great band "Mastodon". Interesting hearing about how he started out playing through his dad's stereo. You don't need a lot of gear to learn and make music.
