THIS STORY:
On the night of May 26, 1896, a man named James Dunham killed his wife, her family, and two of their family's servants in Campbell, California. An intense manhunt commenced, but.....

_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

Family killers are a special kind of psychopath. To think of simply wiping everybody out like that. James Dunham could’ve just left with his money and started a new life elsewhere without harming anybody. Left them all alive. He was a fully grown man. His wife would’ve been fine with her family supporting her and her baby. Hattie was only 28, her brother James only 23, Bob Brisco only a bit over a month shy of 30 when they were so brutally murdered. RIP to all of them.

It’s unbelievable how much horrible death there were way back then. We think that life was easier going then. At times I’m sure it was. But, it doesn’t escape the fact that there were sick people around then just as there are now. It’s just sad to see this. 😢RIP Glad Ron shows us these situations and how we should never forget these people. 💕

Wow Ron, What a shocking story! I only live about an hour north of Campbell, but I never heard about these murders. Crazy that the murderer was never apprehended. With a good plan in those days, I suppose it would be easier than today to escape and not be found--especially if he did leave the country. This story would have been a good one for October! 🎃☠️ Thanks, Ron and a very happy new year to you, your family, and all the Faces of the Forgotten clan here! 😃🎊🥂🎉

Hi Ron, you're in one of the most historic cemetaries California. So many stories here. Members of the famed Donner Party are buried at Oak Hill. Also a story you may want to do sometime is that of the Brooke Hart kidnapping and murder that led to the lynching of the purpatrators Jack Holmes and Harold Thurmond in 1933. Brooke is intered in the mausoleum there and Thurmond is also buried at Oak Hill. As a side note, the McGlincey house stood untill 1965 when it was finally torn down.

Hi Ron! I lived on some of this property years ago. It was the last acerage of another family after 1895. They have since sold the property. Very sad story. Looks like the son went on to be in the military. Thank u for everything u do! Wish I could have seen u, Oak Hill is next to my work building for a tree care company.

What a tragic story, thanks Ron for the remembrances. Edit….. I bought your book back about 6 months ago, and only began reading a few nights ago. Read throughout the past couple days “Into The Unknown” is a great, exciting read. Your exploration of the north artic and the remote places, finding the remains of the British Franklin ship and sailors . remains. The remote villages and The native inhabitants and their stories. Your story telling has a way to keep a person reaching to turn the pages, the next interesting finds. And the Avenger airplane, the survival and story. Recommend your book to anyone who enjoys your storytelling.

Fascinating story, I’m trying to figure out James Dunham’s motive and why he had so much anger to attack these unsuspecting people so violently? It seems so senseless. At least the baby was spared. The poor maid fought for her life, maybe if she had been wearing shoes at that moment she might have been able to escape. I believe McGlincy Lane in Cambell, Ca. Is named after Richard McGlincy, he had just turned age 55 a few days before his murder and it sounds like he was a leader in the community at that time. There’s a lot of interesting stories of people who are buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, San Jose, Ca.
