Terrific breakdown of the camera. Thank you for taking the time on this video and not rushing it out the day the embargo was lifted. Your effort in putting the video together made it very enjoyable to watch. And your photos looked great.

Great video. The camera body is weather resistant. Just the lens is not at the front, which is why adding the adapter plus filter completes the resistance to fluid ingress.

  • @zenstoodi

It's not the camera, it's just just how do you approach this tool. X100 series is limiting you to think, compose and slow down, but it's not making you better photographer. It's just a tool. BTW. Owner of X100VI and XH2s :) So for all wanting to buy this tool, it's great camera, but it's not the gold recipe for being better photographer. And most important thing, it's not designed to be the only one camera for photographer in my opinion, maybe if you are very limited to certain kind of photography. If you are looking something for start it's not the best choice. X-T3/4/5 + zoom lens for a start is better until you learn and figure out what focal length do you prefer. Then you can buy prime lens.

Sort of. I use high end Canon gear since the 1980s with loads of very good lenses including some lenses that cost more than an HS2 and lens. I took a long time to decide to keep my (month old) 100VI. Until yesterday I was considering an XT5 or XH2 as a travel alternative but they are too big, heavy and overt with good zooms and a prime or two. I use full frame Canon SLRs and DSLRs, and the great little EOS M5 system for travel. At the other extreme I’ve shot Fuji 6x9 and Bronica MF, all over the place for decades too so I am used to heavy photography expeditions. So what attracts me to the small fixed lens X100VI? Size, low profile (only black achieves this), build quality, weather resistance, low weight, good lens (don’t believe the negative comments on this, it stands up to very expensive alternatives from f4), Fuji recipes. I could go on. It was marginal on investment between a fully kitted out X100 and the more SLR like XT5 or XH2. But as a highly experienced film and digital photographer since the mid 1970s, I understand all the technical aspects I’ll ever need to know to abstract good images from an X100. If a wealthy beginner or intermediate photographer wanted an excellent starting kit of quality then definitely a Fuji XT5/XH2 is the way forward as for about £3 to £4K you can build an excellent long lived system based on good glass. Maybe even start second hand with an XT4 and a couple of Fuji primes. Good quality kit for sensible money. In summary, assess your use case. Getting a high quality camera like an X100VI is crazy for a beginner or influencers.. It’s a semi pro level tool, not costume jewellery…

Think the tech experts say use a Thunderbolt cable and an M series iPad, Mac or iPhone 15 pro for super fast data transfer in preference to any wireless options. I’m taking an X100VI back to its birthplace (China) in a few weeks. Planning to only use Fuji apps for remote triggering and local sharing, then primary sort with 11 in iPad Pro after data transfer, some initial culling and editing whilst there, and then back up to a portable SSD for added safety. Limited iCloud access in China.
