The Calm Before the Storm, Full Scribing and Insulating Wall Logs with Moss

I notch a tight saddle on the 2nd course log on my log cabin, insulate it with moss and pound it into place with another log. Snow arrives at the cabin.

To upset the log onto the seat, we usually take a piece of log 60-70 centimeters long, 15-20 centimeters in diameter, and hammer two staples into it, not all the way but with a gap of 5-6 cm to the log, (earlier, with such staples they pulled the logs at the base of the house), comfortable handles are obtained. With such an improvised hammer it is very convenient to knock and upset logs.

Shawn, do you know how much folks love you and appreciate what you’re doing? It’s something we’ve never seen, and will never see again, a lone man actually building his massive log homestead in the northern wilderness. You, and this thing you’re giving us, are extraordinarily rare, not to mention that your presentation is humble, articulate and videography well done. That so many want to contribute by helping you in a small way is a testament to our care. Heh, heh, that you get over run by safety glasses, books, gifts, and STUFF, well, I guess that’s a side effect of your celebrity. It’s hard to let go of gifts; but, when you have so many…Shawn, you don’t have to keep them the rest of your life, heh, heh…. Triage the keepers and let the others go. Let ‘em go. Let ‘em go. Let ‘em go. Sorry, couldn’t help it. Texas

Maybe because of being out in the cold weather, I can fall asleep right in the middle of a log pounding down another log, and then have to rewind it. I like your ramps. I had a metal roof put on my little storage cabin, to avoid fire, years ago. They come in colors now, to blend in with the sky or evergreen trees. Love your geese calling. I always liked Norwegian folk art, on their old cabins, and the way you decorate your doors. It’s clear that Cali prefers the cold. I like all your fires. You can take it easy, and the progress is still phenomenal, with the height you gain from just one log! Looks bullet proof, and they sell bullet proof glass too, so you’d be set, come hell or high water. Looked like you’d made almost half the dowels you’ll need in that other video. Way to go!

The term "scribing" is new to me, it's the first time I watch you connect the logs by using their own body, creating notches in them. That's a very clever method, I believe. I assume that this is the heaviest part of building the cabin, as it's the most essential to building it up from there. I feel now that I'm saying the obvious thing.
