Taken out of context, if you know anything about the pressure drivers are under to stay on schedule over there, this clip feels like it could be just another day on Japan's rails. XD

When I watched "The Bullet Train" at a Japanese movie theater in 1975, I didn`t recognize that minitures of bullet trains were used in this footage. It`s quite amazing!

Practical effects and minimal CGI did look amazing. That's how 2001 Space Odyssey & First Star Wars Trilogy remain classic.

I look at model trains a lot so I immediately feel something is off during the Shinkansen footages

I think some of the 60s and 70s Japanese movies were seriously ahead of their time.

that train is over 60 years old and still looks futuristic and better than the newest trains in America

Now I know where The Simpsons got its inspiration for the monorail episode... Right down to the uniforms and gloves...

It would be nice if they referenced where the inspiration was from during the episode. Like a text box in the corner or a shoutout.

すごい、この映画見てなかったのを後悔するくらい当時の特撮合成技術がすごい。 BGMと俳優の方々の緊迫感もさすがと唸らされますね。

Ordered the Blu-ray off the back of this clip and the original trailer - was not disappointed. I'm surprised that a 2h 30 movie could be this suspenseful and gripping the whole way through. Also, the miniatures are fantastic and the shots of the 0 Series are gorgeous.

There's a O series Bullet at York. It's enormous 😊

That was 1975 and Japan had bullet trains, my goodness. (bullet started in 1964).

This movie was intense, depressing, and yet surprisingly nuanced. ... I loved it.

映画がフィクションだと理解できていない人がいるな。 そういう人のために映画の最後には「この物語はフィクションであり、登場人物。その他の名称は架空のもので実在のものとは何ら関係ありません」とでるんだけどな。 フィクションを見るならあなたの世界の新幹線と物語の中の新幹線が違うことくらい理解しようぜ。

Still a lot more efficient and safe than the american railway system, thats for sure!

CGI can very well compete with models if done right. But the Bullet Train movie with Brad Pitt, although based on a Japanese novel, was a film made by American filmmakers for an American audience, both of whom have zero clue about trains, consequently it was totally unrealistic (trains dashing through tight corners, people standing on top of the train next to the high-voltage catenary, trains occupying the same track with ATC apparently doing nothing, one train miraculously lifting up another and with no severe structural damage to itself, and so on and so forth).

​@@DaneelroPerhaps the real question is: Did David Leitch, the director of Bullet Train, even wanted realism in the first place? Given the cartoonish and outlandish tone of the story and action, realism doesn't seem to bother him that much in the first place.

Bullet Train in 2022, is much better in terms of writing, comedy and the choice of incorpating Thomas the Tank Engine.

実際にこのスピードで転線したら車内はトンでもないことになってそうだが････ （アイコンでわかるように僕もテツだけど、お騒がせしてる誰かさんと違ってフィクションを愉しめるスキルは持ってるツモリです）

If a train switched to the other track using the points at that speed, I'm pretty sure it would derail.

東映は国鉄と蜜月の関係だったのに（社長が鉄道省出身／この映画公開時には亡くなっている、監督の兄弟が国鉄の偉いさん） この映画のせいで 関係が悪化した

Movie technology was way behind times but a lovely movie nevertheless

You'd certainly never guess that they used models rather than the real thing could you 😁 Actually, I presume it must have been made with at least some cooperation from Japan Rail, perhaps proving that they do have a sense of humour 😁

And I rather doubt that the track circuits would clear to allow the points to be moved *that* quickly after a train had passed 😰

This Shinkansen is equipped with a bomb that explodes if the train slows down, so it cannot slow down.

............ A Japanese disaster film from the 1970's............. about a bullet train?........ This literally could have been a parody in a Mel Brooks film.

ATSをギリギリで切っているのと、 この動画の直前に種別を回送扱いに しているので多分可能なのでは? ATSを切っているので指令室は列車 の細かい現在地がわからないのと、 切っている間の惰性走行距離を短く して再び加速ができる様にするべく 分岐器付近に沿線電話で状況中継を する駅員を立たせたのだと思います

元祖[名古屋飛ばし]ｗ。もし本当に80㎞/hを下回ったら爆発する設定なら名古屋通過前にOut！(確か名古屋駅は通過するにしても70㎞/h制限がかかるとのこと。初代のぞみ301号だったか名古屋通過時にも70㎞/hで走っていた)。 ガチ[鉄]としては突っ込みどころ満載なんだけど…所詮は映画。文字通りお芝居。こんなん有り得ねぇ～wwwって会話は[鉄]仲間同士の内輪ネタとして笑い飛ばすのが無難だろうね(^^);

1:05 これは東海道新幹線の転轍機（ポイント）ではないはずだ。鉄道の常識を知らない人がストーリーをつくるから、何でもありって感じ。高速のままでポイントを通過したら脱線転覆。本物の新幹線がプラレール感覚でおもちゃにされたみたいで面白くない。（追伸：投稿の評価順では全ての投稿が表示されないので、新しい順で表示して欲しい。既に50件以上ある）

実際の運行で規定されている最高速度はポイントのメンテナンスサイクルを考慮したもので、実際の設計最高速度は結構高い。 このシーン直前でも運転手が最初列車指令に反駁しているが列車指令側は設計最高速度を知っていたのでしょう。

@e9608 はあ？ 映画のカタを持つと？この動画を見ましたか？ 1:05 転轍機が動作していますね。 これだけを見て、どう思いますか？ 枕木が木ですね。 しかも、在来線や私鉄線にありがちなんですが、枕木の長さが微妙に不揃いになっている。 さらに、さらに、線路幅が狭い。 これ、新幹線の線路設備ではないですね。 仮に、新幹線のものだったとしても、車両生産工場内か車庫付近です。 東海道新幹線の開通当初では、現在の標準となっているスラブ軌道が導入されていなかったものの、枕木は鉄芯が入ったコンクリートです。 さて、映画から離れて実際問題として言えば「最高速度はポイントのメンテナンスサイクルを考慮したもの」との認識は間違っています。 最高速度は曲線の曲率を考慮したものです。 ポイントは直線部分と曲線部分が重なり合っていますが、曲線側を通過する速度が速すぎると脱線してしまうのです。 約100km/hでポイントを通過しているようですが、この速度のままで曲線側を走ってしまったら、この時点で脱線して横倒しになっています。 そもそも、新幹線指令は電力設備からの送電をとめる事ができてしまうんですよ。 仮に、それができなくなったとしても、電力会社の変電所でスイッチを切断してもらう事ができるわけで。 日本の技術力をあなどっているというよりも、常識が欠落していて、見るに堪えませんね。

@@Choetsu-suu-p この映画の設定は爆弾が仕掛けられており、80ｋｍ/ｈを下回れないのです。 あのシーンは信号故障でホーム停車中の列車を避けるため、制限ぎりぎりで対向列車を避けたシーンです。 ポイントの曲線部分にあの速度で侵入できるかは議論の余地がありますし、映画の嘘と言えばそうかもしれません。 もう一つこの映画のファンとして肩を持つとすれば、国鉄が途中で映画の内容を知ってしまって、ロケに協力してくれなくなってしまったことですね。 そのためほとんどを隠し撮りとミニチュア特撮で頑張った作品です。 転轍機の部分も在来線の物を隠し撮りしざる得なかったのでしょうね。

​@@skyblue9608 おかしな事？が、またもや出てきました。 80km/hを下回れないなら、もう運命が決まっています。 どのみち終点でオシマイです。 衝撃から身を守る対策を講じて、衝突か爆発を待つのみでしょ？ 最期の時を1秒でも遅らせたいはずなのに、それまで100km/hで走り続けていたのも意外ですね。 運転士が運転席でアブラ汗を流していても意味がない、ですよね。 それから「転轍機操作！」のところ、列車が右の線から左の線へ遷移している。 ここは複線（2線）です。 対向列車が走ってきた区間に、わざわざ切り替えて列車を流しこむのはなぜでしょう。 ストーリーを知りませんので見ただけの範囲で言いますが、上り線、下り線が明確になっているところでは列車を逆行させたりしません。 一部の私鉄などでは、旧・運輸省時代からですが、特別に許可された区間に逆行があるだけです。 映画では、この地点から列車の逆行が始まったわけで、まもなく別の列車が近づいてきます。 列車同士を正面衝突させようという作戦なのでしょうか。

@@Choetsu-suu-p このシーンの直前のセリフを確認しました。分岐器の制限速度は70ｋｍで、ＡＴＣ解除で作動する非常ブレーキを加味してそこを120ｋｍで通過するシーンのようです。制限70ということは16番分岐器でしょう。 だいたいR400のカーブだとすると時速100ｋｍ/ｈでの通過なら在来線の振り子式レベル。 新幹線なら火花を散らしながらギリギリできるかな？どう思います？
