The Build of the LT-40 Fire Truck to Camper Conversion.

@@gwoodtones The engine and transmission came out of a 1 ton Chevy van. As for performance the inline 6 and 2 barrel carb could barely maintain 55-60 on flatland. Since Greg did the upgrade he has traveled all over the mountains in Colorado and Wyoming for the last several years. Plenty of power to pull the mountains. I suspect that since he has much more power the engine works far less. His average mileage for the trips is 11-12 MPG. The conversion was not for the faint of heart but Greg is an amazing builder with several outstanding projects. You might want to check the Jetta Bus videos to see another amazing build.

Without criticizing the know-how of this gentleman, when I see such a collector's truck, so rare and sought after, modified in this way, by removing its engine, so to speak its soul and changing a whole host of things, it turns me on. the stomach. For me, it's as if you took one of the most beautiful women in the world, natural and authentic, and changed her breasts for big ones, her mouth, her buttocks and even her eyes... What a sacrilege! You, you always want to change everything and do not respect sacred things, be it the land, the way of life, art as a whole. No, I really don't like works of art being destroyed! Sorry but that's just my point of view!
