The Brutal Decline of NWA Powerrr

Спорт

Recently I uploaded a video talking about how the NWA has had a drop in quality over the last couple of years and while I mentioned numerous factors that played into why this happened I failed to mention that one of the key factors is the changes that were made to NWA Powerrr, NWA’s weekly TV product. NWA Powerrr is so different now to what it was when it first debuted and whilst the product is still watchable and I admittedly still watch it every week, there is definitely a noticeable drop in quality in my opinion so today I’m going to be watching 2 episodes of NWA Powerrr, 1 from the 1st year of NWA Powerrr and one from the last year, both completely randomized.

They deleted the old episodes so people couldn't see just how bad nwa messed up by having Tyrus as their world champion, especially after they had someone like Nick Aldis. That was a huge mistake. What is funny is Tyrus is laying out challenges to Dustin Rhodes and Mox, both of which are very good wrestlers, unlike Tyrus. In regards to Tyrus I agree with WWE, because just like WWE I don't even think that he is good enough to be a mid card champion, but NWA made him their World Champion? I am at a loss

@Thaddeus Patin II The only reason Tyrus is champion is because he is friends with Billy. Billy could have put the belt on a talented wrestler, but he decided to put it around the waist of his untalented friend. It is so stupid.

@@zemox2534 , yes, it's a case of the owner putting over his friend, even if it sinks the ship, instead of going with someone credible. It's sad. I respect his loyalty to his friend, because it is admirable, but if he was as serious about preserving the legacy of the NWA as he claims, he wouldn't have put the World Title on him.

Viewership for Powerrr dropped each new episode too. The debut episode had over 600K and was the second most viewed video on NWA’s KZread channel. Each week it dropped til one point it was at like 100K and stayed there. And even the new episodes can’t get the numbers the early episodes had. 100K+ is pretty much where views have stayed at for Powerrr

You have the world heavyweight title, world television title, world tag team titles, National heavyweight title, United States tag team titles, women’s world title, women’s world tag team titles, world junior heavyweight title, and now the women’s television title. I’m surprised he didn’t bring back the North American heavyweight title which was active when he bought the NWA. I wouldn’t be surprised if he tried to revive the world 6-man tag team titles or even the 3 titles that CMLL controlled for so long somehow

They ditched Dave Lagana and Cornette for reasons that may have been unavoidable, but both were seemingly huge hits. They shut out David Marquez who could've been a lucrative asset since he's actually currently DOING the territory thing successfully on a small scale with UWN and has been for about a decade now (once with another iteration of the NWA that proved more lucrative and interesting in the long run). Josephus/Question Mark passed, which is sad for many reasons, but in NWA's case it meant losing one of their more over home growns and an extremely creative mind. They ran Aldis off, and while his run as forever champ was wearing thin, it didn't help matters that they didn't build someone up to beat him other than Trevor Murdoch. Losing some talent to bigger promotions is a given, but there are other young talents they could've built on and probably afforded for cheaper than whatever Aldis, Tyrus, Adonis, Burke, Murdoch, Knox, or even Idol and Velvet are asking for. Billy ran off the Cult of Cornette when he ditched Jim, and then ran off the remaining internet crowd by putting the gold on Tyrus and dressing down anyone who dared judge his product. I hate to see NWA go out this way, but at this point if it died tomorrow it'd be an act of mercy.

I’ll be real I can acknowledge the clear drop in quality but I still enjoy NWA I think if Corona wasn’t the booker then they can be great as honestly I like how there’s not a lot of mainstream stars on it other then EC3 because it means they can build their own stars I just think they need a much better booker but again it’s just my opinion.

NWA deserve so much better. Such a legendary wrestling promotion should be owned by someone that can give it better respect and attention.

It says a lot that with all the talent WWE has released in the last couple years NWA hasn’t signed any of them. They either aren’t trying to get them or the wrestlers aren’t interested.

I watch Powerrr sometimes and it’s like… one of the strengths of the pre-pandemic NWA Powerrr was the women’s division and that’s still true to an extent, they get a lot of attention and mic time and are presented as equal stars to the men. The product also uses a lot of good journeymen like the NOW or Jay Bradley who still have a lot to offer. There’s not much else that’s any good lol, they don’t have any standout young talent to play off the veterans like they did with Ricky Starks for ex

I don't know why, but I've just not been a fan of studio wrestling. I tried with WOS and NWA Powerrr when it first started. It's nothing against the talent in both those shows, but I feel like having a studio audience hits different from other shows I've watched filmed at nightclubs, sport centres and other locations.

I can't watch the newer episodes of the show. When it first began, it was completely different stylistically than anything else, so some of the old-fashioned things such as the lack of entrance music and things like that made the show unique, and didn't bother me. The more recent shows are just like everything else, but without ring music. It makes that much more annoying than it would have been when I was watching a show that looked like an old wrestling show
