Wrestlers Who Killed Their Own Careers

Спорт

The wrestling world move VERY fast. One minute, you’re at the top, a main eventer, the next, you’re a jobber, you’re fired or in some cases… you’re banned and blacklisted from wrestling. Today we’re going to be discussing wrestlers who killed their own careers and will most likely never return to wrestling at a high level, due to their own actions.

Oh man, Alex Riley is one of the saddest stories when it comes to burials of wrestlers. I don't know exactly how the incident with Cena looked like, but based on Cena's other actions at the time (Nexus, Kenny Dykstra, burying Del Rio at NoC 2011, killing Lesnar momentum at Extreme Rules 2012) I'm willing to stand on Alex Riley side. He had everything - look, fantastic theme song, he did really well with (and against) The Miz, athleticism and definitely had some charisma. And then he totally wasted his 30s. I honestly had a good feeling after he came to regular competing in 2016 (and he was jacked) but it ended with another Jobberland visit. It's too bad, I really hope he'd at least get some midcard run in NWA to end career on his own terms with some positive outcome, he deserve it.

I know people take sides with Ivelisse and Thunder Rosa, but I hear stories about both. So I am thinking there has to be something to both of them just not mixing. But Tony has made a massive effort with Rosa trying to get her in better standing backstage. Surely, he could have done the same with Ivelisse and had an extra star around. Especially with the rumored roster split coming up. It is reallllly hard for me to take anything Baker says with any credibility as she has shown she is only out for herself imo. Baker allegedly holds other talent back and even looms a massive shadow over Jamie Hayter's first title reign. It should be all about Hayter - fans like and want more Hayter, but Britt is always along to be an attention vacuum to her reign to maintain top billing and relevance, it appears. I hope I am wrong. Cena is very much a two faced person. WWE and he spent years presenting him like a saint in public, but we have gotten glimpses into what he's really like. His comments on Chris Kanyon were pretty disgusting and there are more than a few up and coming wrestlers he sabotaged. Not to mention throwing the entire country of Taiwan under the bus to pander to authoritarian communist china.

And agreed that Tony's typical tone deaf response probably added fuel to the fire. Regardless, I do think that things have improved in terms of representation and the women's scene (it's dominated by Britt and Jade and Paige now!), although there could be a bit more diversity in the AEW title scene. With every wrestler being hired as an "independent consultant" everyone basically has the same job title and people who can order you around appears to be based on seniority. That's like serving on a ship with several first officers. You can have one Veteran give you instructions that are contradictory to those of another and it may not be clear who can over-ride who's suggestions. Some may give instructions to haze the new kid. This sounds like a difficult environment to navigate until you learn the pecking order.
