The Brough Superior Factory
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Brough Superior is an iconic old name - known as the Rolls Royce of the motorcycling world - with original models breaking auction records. However, the brand is up and running again and still lives up to today legendary status today, as The Bike show found during a visit to their factory.

Simply beautiful!!!
'The Bike Show' is back in style !!!!
Great report, Matt. Thoroughly enjoyed the show, which compares well with any of the bike vids in KZread land. And yes, bolts can be beautiful!🤗
Always nice to see bikes like this being made. Also good know that you can buy a bike with 10x the capability for 1/10th the price.
I think it's a great compliment to early British engineering and style that the French are paying us- not least by the late Patrick Godet who kept the Vincent brand alive with his love for the bike!
I wish I could afford a Brough
I am a fortunate man in that I probably could afford one of these machines however it is not built its country of origin such an iconic machine should still be built in or around the East Midlands where the original Machines were manufactured , The current machines are made around the Toulouse area of France which has a similar skilled workforce as let's say Derby which has a huge aerospace infrastructure, The owner has scored a huge goal in that respect.
Had a good look at one at the Birmingham motorcyle show in 2017. Very impressive design and artistry. Be interesting to see what they are actually like to ride. Sort of the ultimate personal designer bike.
They are obviously 'In Distress'! First thing I clocked too. Again, one of my bugbears as well.
I love this bike
Beautiful.
Looks like Brough is aspiring to be the Pagani of bikes.
Ingeniería en estado puro. Es una máquina bellísima, ya sólo falta que además corra mucho. Magnífica obra de arte mecánica para ser expuesta en un lugar preferente del salón o enmedio del garaje.
I need one.
Did you manage to set up paypal as a method of payment just yet ?
Great review Bike Show!
I would prefer an Egli Vincent.

I hope they ressurect the fantastic Brough 'Golden Dream', that was only ever prototyped.
As a proud Englishman, my disappointment that Brough's revival is French, is proportional to how beautiful and well made the bikes appear to be. They're stunning. I love them. I'm very disappointed.

The wind plays havoc with the flags in that part of the world! The angle between those cylinders is two great, ans actually looks greater that 90 degrees. They should have made it 75 or 70 perhaps. It certainly doesn't look beautiful, it looks awkward.
I suppose this is a kickstarter company! Hahaha
High end French engineering. That's funny as hell right there, yes it is. Hand crafted...another way of saying we can't afford the robotics.
Nice but I much prefer my SDGT😝
Hmmm...undoubtedly good engineering but it's not a looker. The proportions are all wrong to my eyes. The tanks don't look right - it's all too steam punk and not reflective of the modern engineering in it. Maybe that's what buyers want out of them I don't know but at £50k in the UK I don't think it's aesthetically pleasing enough for me at that money.

Err except it isn't. Most effective means of transmitting power to rear wheel at only 4% power loss. Belt is 15% and shaft 25% loss. All approximate.
100k is actually relatively good value for all the bespoke engineering, attention to detail, and hand finishing... the history and pedigree of the Brough Superior name is just icing.
i🎉 think😂
This ain’t a Brough Superior. It's brand stealing. Buying a name and giving it to something unworthy is criminal. Still shame it isn't a good looking bike.

Seriously...seems like scratches on everything everywhere and the welds didn't look all that impressive, that is not a sign/mark of quality. Seems to me their just trying to cash in on the name, and the Cafe racer fad. What they Should have done is tap Broughs distinguished heritage, and gone for a lil more of a tech-ed up retro touring angle since that's what the original was (touring I mean) just sayin. Straight up ugly, personally I wouldn't spend anyone's money on it!

yet another group of people using a name to boost sales. broughs are no longer around and will never will be.. considering George brough NEVER made Engines or parts, he simply used top parts of the day and modified parts for customers. No different to someone buying the REX name and making new bikes under someone elses company.. Whats next.. P&M Panther or Cotton bikes.. i rate the same wiith Tesla cars who have no right to use the Tesla name..

Paul Queripel. To which engine are you referring? According to my bookshelf they made a 900cc in-line SV four, a SV vee-four, an OHV flat four (the “H” or “flat vertical” engine, not unlike a BMW or Douglas, but twice the number of cylinders of course, and with unit construction with the gearbox), a 90 degree OHV vee-twin (which I presume was the shape copied by the present French built ‘imposter’), and a 120 degree SV three cylinder. That was some going for such a small firm. But it was a firm entrusted with machining parts for RR Merlin engines during WWII. All those engines looks OK to me, and in keeping with the experimental aspects of motorcycle technology in the 1930s and 40s. If Britain had had a few more like Geo Brough in charge in the 1950s and 1960s we would perhaps still have a proper motorcycle manufacturing base today. Les

@@leslieaustin151 i have spent afew hours looking into this.. and this information is from The Vintagent... His father, W.E. Brough, was also a motorcycle manufacturer of great renown, and an engineer of some skill, who built his own engines, among other things - something his son rarely did. Some might say William Brough was a Real motorcycle maker, while his son was a clever assembler of components, but the rules in those early years were different than the post-WW2 era, and most manufacturers used bought-in components (engines, gearboxes, wheels, forks, etc) to assemble their machines. The arrangement of a machine’s frame and tinware created a marque’s ‘identity’, of equally validity to a marque which made its own engines and gearboxes. This was in large part due to supplies of ‘loose’ sporting engines by JAP, MAG, Rudge, etc, which had performance on par with any other engine. By the mid-30s, when such engines were no longer competitive in racing, they quickly lost favor with manufacturers; even Brough Superior switched from JAP to AMC V-twin engines, which were hardly sporting, but were sophisticated and reliable, and thus Broughs became Grand Tourers in the end. Other marques relying on purchased motors either disappeared, or built their own engines, and after WW2, the era of the bought-in engine was over. i can fnd no record of any engine made by george or iin any of his cars, or any design of any engine for that matter.
That piece of plastic will have to go! Talk about tacky!
The original Rolls-Royce were a rolling chassis, original Brough Superiors didn't even make their own engines, overated, unlike Vincent.
