    I bought this mount AND the phone case. I feel that it isn’t the best. It’s so difficult to attach the phone on the mount. Of course their video shows that it’s so easy because they are using iPhone 8 which is tiny!?!??

    I would buy this if it could be fitted to my FairPhone's TPU case (I understand that the 3M adhesive pad won't stick to this material and there is apparently no QuadLock case for the FairPhone).

    I have been waiting for a proper Brompton phone mount for a long time. And now? It seems these "Quad Lock" cases are only available for 4(!) phone brands... Oh well. The waiting continues.

    You can buy the unversal adapter that sticks to any case for any smartphone. Can be bought directly from Brompton with the support.

    @@CasablancaDriver I've tried these universal adapters (also used by other phone mounts). They require the case to be made of specific materials the glue will adhere to and the back must be completely flat and untextured. Which excludes most cases. More importantly, it adds a bump to the back of the case so it won't lay flat anymore. Typing on the phone while it sits on a table becomes impossible. I've tried that. I have spent quite some time looking for a quality mount which fits most phones, properly fits the Brompton and keeps the phone fully usable. This unfortunately isn't it. I'm thankful for any hints.

    hello. is the Quad Lock MAG™ iPhone Case compatible with this Brompton mount?

  • @scottsnider9090

    I am a strong user of quad lock mostly the barrel securements in the past. I have a Brompton and I purchased the Brompton quad lock. I noticed the operation of this quad lock is not great and getting the phone back in can require some finagling. I am achieving the 45 deg. angle clearance as required. The problem with this design is the right side hinge. When you insert the phone the spring action does not move evenly like the barrel version. It depresses at an angle and the right side is semi fixed. This seems like a bad design and the depression mechanism should move evenly to facilitate a smooth operation. I would like to hear from others and maybe from Quad lock on this. Meanwhile I will work it out on my own.

    This device is rather unfortunate. There is not much available *horizontal* bar space on the Brompton's M and H bars, and this takes up all there is... ... leaving absolutely no room for anything else. This is true even when there is no phone on it. Shame. I was looking for a sensible phone mount for the Brompton... but this isn't it!

  • @CasablancaDriver

    @CasablancaDriver

    You don't want metal for that kind of use - especially in case of a fall : it needs to be light and flexible.

  • @beachstart

    @beachstart

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@CasablancaDriver I am by no means an expert on materials and cannot jugde the material used here. I always thought that metal first bends before breaking where as plastic is more flexible at first but in stead of bending will break and then leave dangerous sharp edges. So a thinner construction out of aluminum would be as light, more durable to sunlight and even saver - at least in my eyes but I could be completely wrong. I like the two points of connection at the handelbar much better than solutions wich use the screw on top of the stem and it is great that there is a solution for the older handelbar types. Besides it matches the looks of other parts of the Brompton. Plus this system is extremly veritile to use. For me personally it just looks a bit bulky to me - that's all.

  • @CasablancaDriver

    @CasablancaDriver

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@beachstart Yep, a bit bulky it is, especially on the S type (where there is other solution like the smaller Quadlock universal mount). On the M/H bar, this is by far the best solution available because you can put your smartphone well centered and flat without making compromise to the fold. Of course, there is also the Trigo kit, which is less bulky but way less secure.
