"I am 46 now. I was the future once. I'm not anymore. And I have to make a decision soon, whether I step up or not... This is it."
Caretaker health minister and Sungai Buloh Barisan Nasional candidate Khairy Jamaluddin joins The Breakfast Grille for a candid conversation.
After being in office for 14 years, Khairy has strongly expressed aspirations to become the Prime Minister of Malaysia one day. Is this just another strategy to counter a brewing narrative that 'a vote for BN is a vote for Zahid'? And is Khairy truly the reformist that he claims he is? Does he have a clean track record, despite the allegations brought against him during UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's corruption trial?
Watch our full interview with Khairy, where he discusses his future with UMNO, asset declaration, and the possibility of a post-election partnership with PN.
The Breakfast Grille is brought to you by U Mobile.

KJ is great. Hard questions from the presenter that’s not only from her but from the listeners. The first thing is that KJ has a great personality with an intellectual disposition. The second thing is he minced and articulate his speech with confidence when questions are fired at him. The third is despite he’s cautious, he’s also able to answer it with no holds barb. We need more politicians like him, level headed and just taking things one at a time with ease. ‘nuff said, let’s vote with confidence, come this Saturday.

Good natured, well trained by Oxford unlike a lot of PMs in U.K. who were from Oxford (I live in U.K. for decades), and certainly very eloquent and charismatic with right vision for Malaysia. Have to get rid of the old sods (first class dinosaurs with little to offer except involved in dubious activities) that are in power too long.

If during his time, social media was popular as it is now, no doubt that KJ will be more popular than ever. Come back stronger, you are one of many gems for our country 💪🏻🇲🇾

Khairy is the only son of a former diplomat, Dato' Jamaluddin Abu Bakar, a Malay of Minangkabau descent and Datin Dato' Rahmah Abdul Hamid, an ethnic Malay housewife of Kedahan ancestry.[citation needed] His late father, Jamaluddin was a senior diplomatic officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, retiring as the Malaysian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Dato' Jamaluddin has since died of throat cancer. Khairy's mother, Rahmah Abdul Hamid, has been heavily involved in volunteer work throughout her life although she was a housewife and never had an employment history, whilst his late paternal grandfather, Abu Bakar, was a community leader in his hometown of Kampung Kota, Rembau.[citation needed] Khairy was born in Kuwait City, Kuwait. He had his secondary education at the United World College of South East Asia in Singapore and furthered his tertiary studies at Oxford University and University College London (UCL) in the United Kingdom. While at Oxford, he studied at St Hugh's College, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). In 1998, he completed his master's degree in Legal and Political Theory at UCL.[

Appreciate the contribution of KJ in health ministry. However, in GE15, Malaysians do not have the luxury to vote for candidate, it’s still a necessity to vote for Party to bring the country to the right path…. I certainly hope in 5-10 years time, we have the luxury to vote for candidate instead of Party, that happens when the major parties in Malaysia have the capacity and heart to lead the country well. God bless Malaysia.
