This is the work-in-progress opening sequence of "The Brave Locomotive", a six-minute independent animated short film produced and directed by Andrew Chesworth, featuring music by Tom Hambleton (Undertone Music.)
It was conceived as a love letter to the Andrews Sisters and 1940s animation.
Andrew Chesworth developed the concept in 2008, and produced and recorded the music with Tom Hambleton in 2009. The complete animatic was storyboarded by Chesworth.
Although the project was shelved in 2011 when Chesworth began as a CG character animator at Disney, it lies dormant with a wealth of materials to share. A complete manuscript for a children's book has also been developed.
You can follow the project on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Thanks for stopping by!

I cant believe how long it's been. Was in high school when I first saw this teaser. The final product was simply perfect animation prowess and I'm so happy it finally came out!!
This almost feels like part of Disney's "Melody Time" from my old VHS tapes. It's incredibly touching. 🥰

So cool how far this short has come.
this was the most stellar work i’ve seen in a long time.
Cute! However, you would have a Fireman shovel in the coal. The minimum crew on a passenger train of that time would be an engineer, fireman, one or two brakemen, and the conductor. Cabooses were used on freight trains, or mixed trains, and were for carrying the brakeman and conductor. A front brakeman might ride in the locomotive cab with the engineer and fireman.
