i laughed a bit when you stated jacob had a voice of an angel and no less than 5 seconds later the first vocal clip had him with a halo headband on. probably not that funny but whatever lmao.

When talking about Ju Hak-nyeon: " To me, he is potential city " Me, having him as my first bias when I joined the fandom, thinking: sounds about right! Mnet really did him dirty on produce, he was the reason I was interested in the Boyz cause I remembered him being so talented already on that show.

i think in terms of pitch, new is one of the most consistent idols out there. HE NEVER MISSES. i wonder if he has perfect or perfect relative pitch bc he’s able to enter the note RIGHT on the correct pitch, which is so pleasing to hear.

It's rather ha(g) because his name is 학년 (_hagnyeon_) but due to accent it may come out as 'ng' (my pronunciation comes out as a 'g' but when I talk quickly, it comes out as a 'ng', so it really depends)

i agree completely with this except i would switch kevin and hyunjae!! my bias is chanhee/new and i think he's an amazing singer but i agree that he can sometimes be inconsistent in his upper register and i think overall sangyeon just has a great supported sound no matter what register he's using! the boyz are one of my ult groups so i really appreciate you making this video from one singer to another :]

Agree! For me hyunjae's voice is more flat than kevin's

kevin's vocal reminds me of rose bp and lia itzy. theyre all main vocals with unique tone, and they suit more with jazz/indie music

Their reveal version on road to kingdom was just chef's kiss. Really glad they won, even though I'm also a fan of Oneus. I really like this group, hope they will gain a lot of fans with Kingdom

i think, the boyz fandom is already big.. cause the boyz is the only group from road to kingdom (along with pentagon) that have over 100k album sales and join the list of million seller boygroup cause the total all of the boyz album sales is over than 1million

I'm so glad you made it to the Boyz! They are really nice vocally and Sangyeon is actually the only bias I have that I stanned purely based on his vocals. While you didn't seem blown away by them for me they just carry a resonance and emotion I love, so I'm glad to see him high up although even I didn't expect first! Anyway stan our underatted leader y'all :).

I've stanned The Boyz since debut. Before seeing this I'd have placed Juhaknyeon higher as I never really compared them in this way but your analysis was an eye opener and gave me more appreciation for some of the members that tend to be overlooked.

I really love hyunjae's voice and i think his vocal is underappreciated so im really grateful that you make this analysis.

I agree that Sangyeon is the number 1!! Just like what you said, his voice is always full. also, he’s the one who’s always stable on their live performances. Also, I always have in my mind that Haknyeon has a potential! dang, he sing to highnotes easily

This was really cool to watch, especially since I´ve been getting into the boyz lately after they caught my attention on road to kingdom (I see you got a lot of clips from those performances, they were great right). It makes sense that Jacob and Kevin have a western style bc they´re both Canadian, maybe they were influenced by the music they grew up with? This group has great music, amazing choreography and stage presence, I can totally see them becoming one of my favorites in the near future. Also, I am really excited to hear what you have to say about Blackpink :)

I might be late but I kinda agree with you. Yesung's voice have a built-in emotions. You can definitely feel it when you hear him sing. I think it's the same case for Chanhee's (New) voice. He also has the built-in emotion. Not on the same level as Yesung's though. That man (yesung) sings like he had gone through multiple divorce. Anyways, I hope Chanhee's voice will develop more in the future. I'm looking forward to it ❤️

Aaah! I wasn't expecting this but I'm so glad you gave them an analysis! I've always felt The Boyz have a lot of untapped vocal potential that they can explore with the right guidance.I'm glad you pointed Haknyeon's potential because I feel like has a lot of room for growth.And yes Sangyeon is fantastic.

i hope you can do LOONA someday!! I know you don't usually go for the girl groups and also they're a big group but there's lots of individual content and group content so I hope you can learn their voices and decide the ranking quickly! -an orbit :)

@@sambradley8297 I'm not saying this to pile on more pressure on you, but I don't think the solo songs are truly representative of every member. Just letting you know! Jinsoul is considered one of the strongest vocalists but her solo Singing in the Rain is widely viewed as among the worst solos and fails to show the real power and range of her voice (she does have a non-LOONA solo, As Time Goes, for a TV show soundtrack and it's much better at showcasing her skills!). Yeojin, while not considered one of the stronger singers in the group, was obviously forced to sing in an unnaturally high voice in her solo Kiss Later. Unlike, say, Momo from Twice; this is not just a theory, because other songs in the LOONA discography generally allow Yeojin to sing in her natural mezzo tone.

I've been looking forward to this video since you first mentioned doing The Boyz - one of my absolute favourite super underrated groups! And you fanboying over Sunwoo is really a damn mood (Sunwoo biased right here). Your pronunciation of his name is basically spot on - the Hangul is 선우 which in English is essentially the word 'sun' and the sound 'oo'. Haknyeon's name was also super confusing to me when I first started getting into The Boyz - mainly because he uses his full name as his stage name 😹. Basically his surname is 주 or 'joo' and his name is 학년 - 'hak' and 'nyeon'. It's really weird to try and put into English but your pronunciation in the video is just about right! Really enjoy your videos, thank you for putting so much time and effort into them, it's really great to see the channel growing! As someone who's been around since the first few analyses you put out it's been awesome to watch you grow and simultaneously learn so much about my favourite idols. Also sorry for the super long comment - I don't typically comment on videos but when I do I leave long ones. 🤦🏻‍♀️😹 Until next time!

I agree with your rankings, and that was a good analysis of strengths and (current) weaknesses. The first thing I would do with Kevin is teach him to shape and support vowels. That alone would give his vocals a more professional quality. But boy, he's very good at articulating and phrasing a lyric.

I really respect your opinions! You researched well on them and it shows you really put thought into your analysis! I guess I basically agree with you haha. However New is my bias so maybe I’m just biased in believing he’s “the best” but Sangyeon is really amazing too. I find New’s voice really unique and I’m attracted to it more for that reason haha, but thank you for this video I enjoyed watching it!

sangyeon belts almost as high as new tbh, he just doesn’t have as much ease up there. News highest belt is F5 and sangyeon is E5.

LOVE your Ranking and it‘s reasons! I‘d suggest you to check out The Boyz I‘m Your Boy Debut Showcase Performance, in which you can see Younghoon shine more and TATTOO by The Boyz, in which Sangyeon does the Adlibs in the end! Imo, The Boyz Vocal Line hasn‘t reached their full potential yet in studio recordings. Their Songs are mostly ‚safe‘ with belts above an E4 (or A4 if you count checkmate) being rare and falsetto/adlibs being done by the same few members - when more have the potential! I really hope that in the future each member will be able to show their full potential and/or range. But yes, I looove your analysis and I hope that in a year or so you can do an update on your thoughts about their technique etc. :>

I have to confess that the thing that less got my attention about The Boyz was their vocals. I got to know them during R2K and beyond being impressed with everything else about them, I was waiting for an outstanding vocal (I'm a vocal stan, so...) that, in my opinion, didn't came in R2K performances. But after your video I got quite impressed with Sangyeon, even he being the one who most called my attention in the group, he didn't shine brighter in R2K stages, and he has such potential! It was nice to see how good he is and I truly need to see more things of him.

If I'm not mistaken, Hwall left the group due to health reasons last year. So that's probably why you can't find as much from him or less lives.

EDIT: Ok, so up until Jacob I wasn't really surprised with the ranking and I think it is quite fair. Also all the members that were lower are part of the rap or the dance line so its OK that they don't really shine in singing but are still decent vocalists. I was a little surprised that Kevin was lower than Hyunjae since he is main vocalist but to be fair Hyunjae has been getting a lot of lines lately and Im glad cz I do think that he deserves it. I was also surprised to see number 1 and 2 since most of the fandom places New at the top but your explanation makes sense plus I was really happy to see Sangyeon as n1 cz he has probably my favorite voice in the group. I'm glad you enjoyed The Boyz and are on your way to become a Deobi( or a The B). I really hope will get more of their vocals in the new stages on Kingdom soon😀.

Would you consider making a ranking chart to compare singers across groups like the chart that the dance chann On the Scene shows at the end of their videos? I'm really interested to see how groups compare to each other. I think that could be a good way to do it and minimize fanwars.

Great ranking and in depth view of a group that doesn’t usually get this type of spotlight, it’d be interesting to see something similar with LOONA. Also can’t wait for what new thoughts will be brought up for the BLACKPINK ranking lol

Loved this one! Would you ever consider doing a Wanna One vocal ranking? They’ve got 11 members but they’ve disbanded now because they were only a temporary group. They’re my ult group so I’d love you to do a video for them but I understand if you don’t want to do a disbanded group!
