THE BOYS SEASON 4 EPISODE 5 REACTION - FIRST TIME WATCHING - 4X5 - REVIEW

Ойын-сауық

The Boys Season 4 Episode 5 Reaction! Episode 5x5 gave us some insane moments! From killer animals with superpowers to Hughie's dad getting powers of his own before things take a turn.
This episode titled "Beware the Jabberwock, My Son" begins with Hugh Sr. as he wakes up from his coma, Daphne reveals it was she who administered the Compound V; Hughie starts bonding and spending time with his parents. Annie is blamed for Ezekiel's death.
Butcher reveals to The Boys a virus that kills Supes, which is in Neuman's possession. He and M.M. visit Stan Edgar in prison to help them obtain the virus in exchange for freeing him. The Boys go to a farmhouse where they discover Compound V has been experimented in several animals. Neuman arrives and the group search for a scientist, Sameer Shah, but are ambushed by the animals; they manage to kill them with the last dose of the virus.
At the hospital, the empowered Hugh Sr. murders several patients after failing to control his powers while losing his memory; Hughie calms him long enough to administer a lethal injection to end him peacefully. Vought presenter Cameron Coleman is blamed for leaking the video footage and, under Homelander's orders, is "taken care of" by The Seven. Frenchie turns himself in to the police for his past crimes. Butcher reveals to Joe that he has kidnapped Sameer, planning to use him to replicate the virus.

When you mentioned that The Seven as "an evil Justice League", I immediately started thinking of the Crime Syndicate of America, which is the Earth 2 version of the JLA..They run the entire infrastructure of the country like the mob, with each member being a crime boss, and having their own houses, made up of a pyramid of criminal supers under them, called "made men"..I could see Homelander in Ultraman's (evil Superman) role as the Boss of All Bosses.

Call me paranoid, but that V brought back his brain dead dad once, im not convinced he is dead. I sincerely doubt injecting him with somthing lethal would do the trick, i mean he is a supe now, and the whole episode was about the only thing that can kill supes, the virus. If whatever Hughie gave his dad really worked, why not give it to J̶o̶h̶n̶ (sorry) Homelander? Nah man, something's cooking here i can smell it :D

That's a good theory, so when the parasite wants to help him when he's feeling weak he imagines Becca but when he needs to be ruthless he imagines that other guy? I can already imagine the reveal of that guy dying a long time ago or something like that.

I already loved The Boys but thanks to you I love this show even more. Now I consider it one of the best series ever. Definitely in my top 10, maybe in my top 5. You guys catch EVERYTHING and explain it so well. I already knew Antony Starr was incredible, but thanks to you, Ari, I have an even greater appreciation for the depth of his acting. I already knew that The Boys was both super satirical and super funny, but you are so receptive to the slightest comic detail and the slightest reference to our societies and current events, Denise, that thanks to you the show is even more funny and interesting. I rewatched seasons 1 to 3 before starting season 4, because I forgot the details of the story. Now I'm thinking of watching your full lenght reactions twice, because your analyzes are DOPE 😍. Writers are undoubtedly best able to comment on and explain the narratives and the nuances of the characters. In any case, The Boys seems to have been created for both of you. You add so much to the show 👌.

As much as I love the show - and I really (really!) love the show - this season feels.. off, to some extent. It's not the political aspects, I'm absolutely fine with them leaning into it - and I'm not wholly sure it's the writing either.. at least not entirely - I think it's the pacing. Theres been a lot of those weird things happening like the JDM, Urban, Sameer scene at the end there - snatch-and-grab and sawed his leg off... when, how, and where did it go down? It's just presented as having happened and that's all she wrote. Unfortunately those weird pacing issues starts rubbing off on the characters as well after a while. It's just weird to me. S4 takes place like 5-6 months after the finale of S3.. but if you had told me that it's been 2-3 years, I wouldnt have had an argument to really refute that.

We noticed a bit of that too. I think the most likely reason is time restrictions when it comes to the episode itself. I can guarantee they probably shot all of that but in order to keep it as close to an hour as possible it had to be left in the cutting room.
