Being a better editor isn't all about cutting and fancy effects-it's how you communicate your ideas. How can we do that better? Well, first, we'll have to get organized... #editing

Enjoyed watching this, primarily because you nailed the real frustration with editing. One way you end up with a mess and another way it's smooth and easy both on the project and the first brain

Being organized with your assets is like giving your future you a love letter. I always thank my past self for organizing assets before I work, since I don't have to stress that much anymore when executing the editing process. Great video, please make more!

These videos are fantastic. Currently am editing a 30 min short film together and am suffering the side effects of not being organized. It is hell. Thank you for being one of the few channels that is quick and concise with editing points. Looking forward to more.

Your videos are so good, and I needed to hear this info specifically. I'm so grateful I found your channel. Subbed, watching everything you've made and looking forward to more from your mind. Also, you're very respectful of us viewers in the way you deliver the info. I don't skip the first minute and a half of your video like I do with most other channels out there. I hope you get the viewers and support you want to keep going.

Love this, but also wanted to mention I think Freddie might have been quoting Robert Rodriguez who (if I’m remembering correctly) said in one of his 10 minute film making schools that he loved having the edit of a film always on hand so he could make changes, edit or score at the speed of thought. But then again, as i write this, maybe it’s an even older anecdote.

Thanks for explaining the whole process. Had to lookup what an assembly cut meant (3:11), but great stuff overall 👍

Could you do a video on the mirror transition in the film “Contact”?

More in the wheelhouse of VFX, but I do want to talk about transitions in film, and that's definitely on the list!
