I dispute that Lenny Bongcloud used the opening to limited success. The thing is, Lenny wasn't playing the same game as everybody else. Everybody else was trying to play chess. Lenny was trying to get his king to the opposite side of the board. If he got mated, he got mated. If he got his king to the other side, he resigned. Go and take a look at his account and play back some of his games. It's actually really interesting.

I dont think you understand, early development of the king gives you a huge advantage. Most players like to keep their king undeveloped or even trap them in the corner but this removes your option to develop the king which gives your attacker a potential extra attacker if they intelligently use the bongcloud opening.

I means you aren't saving your rooks for a castle for half the game so you can mentally play the rooks like it is end game while still having most of your peices.

It’s a huge blunder as soon as bishops come out it’s over it’s a complete waste

when you are met with the bongcloud you might as well resign because you know the enemy is strong enough to use it

To be fair. Taking off the mental strain of keeping your rooks tied down for castles can help develop them sooner than traditional openings and while you might be developing possibly the worst piece you are still developing forward and if you have a defense in mind you can have your king covered without having his back to a wall. Then there was that weird thing that my father told me that Bobby did a similar opening to it in one of his games though I'm not sure how true that is. Also, finally beat my dad at chess for maybe the 3rd or 4th time ever I my life so that was nice even if it wasn't the bongcloud game but rather the game after with a similar structure to it.

The actual worst opening move is 1.g4, aka the Grob opening. If followed by 1... e5 2.f3, you can also give your opponent checkmate in 2 moves after 2... Qh4#

why this move is so bad? Because: slows white's speed on moving it's pieces into position early game exposes the king blocks the bishop, might also cause some problems with the queen mid game can't castle doesn't control the center early game in conclusion this is a waste on a move also causes problems with white's positions, if the black goes d5 you are pretty much done in early game WHY? ???

F2 to F3, then 21 to F2! way worse than the move in the video because it blocks in the queen, right bishop, and partially blocks the right side knight from coming out
