The "Body Language" of Writing

Students often think of writing assignments as a method of showing an instructor that they understand class content. However, writing is usually assigned to help students communicate with an audience beyond the instructor. To do that, the student must be aware not only of the audience to whom they want to write but also how to approach that audience effectively. Knowing how to use less-immediately-visible writing techniques and strategies makes a significant difference in how successful that written document is.
