Legendary pilot Robert A. “Bob” Hoover is often credited as one of history’s greatest aviators. His airplane, Sweetie Face, is on display at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. This documentary chronicles his storied career, from his years as a U.S. Army Air Force fighter pilot in WWII to his daring feats as a civilian test pilot.

As a kid I had the privilege of seeing Bob Hoover fly a show at Davis-Monthan AFB. He flew his yellow P51 and the Shrike. Watching him perform has stayed with me more than 50 years. He was the consummate stick and rudder pilot and part of the inspiration of my lifetime fascination with flying. I finally was able to get not only a pilot's license but also the mechanic certifications (A&P).
