Cotto took Canelo in the corner STILL Canelo was dominating the exchange. That's how good he is 😮😮

That fight made me a Canelo fan. Cotto is a LEGEND and Canelo fought him like a champion 🏆. Canelo vs Jacobs and Canelo vs GGG 2 was Canelo at his BEST.

in boxing the high guard is even better than it should be and doesn't leave the side of the head open to hooks etc, this is because the gap between your glove and should is just a little too small for a glove to get through

Why is he so vulnerable to an educated lead hand or great movement(especially lateral)? Canelo’s back step first approach, can set up slip counters, but on a consistent basis, an opponent can touch canelo when his back foot meets his front, forcing him to reset. Bivol took full advantage of this, then didn’t bite when nelo set up the trap. Had less to do with size than most fans believe. Watch it again and you’ll see it - canelo loads then lead hand, nelo resets. It’s akin to shutting down someone’s offense from the jump - eg shutting down Spence’s volume jab with a timed jab and rarely does he continue. Plant had some success, yet his gas tank is like a ford excursion. (Gotta get the diesel version). Lara’s movement gave Nelo issues bc it is harder to cut the ring off with this footwork. Edit: obviously May gave him issues with both. Try cutting off the ring when moving forward with your back foot (back step shuffle) and see how hard it is. I liked canelos style when he was a natural counter puncher then could set up a high guard trap and seek and destroy. Nowadays it seems like he’s more on the seek and destroy avenue. Now, there’s a clear blueprint on how to beat him. Easier said than done. But you will notice the guys that gave him issues had 1 or both or these skills. That’s dope you do bjj analysis. I stopped bjj when it got to the legs. It was fun coming in as a “white belt” wrestler hanging with brown belts, but I’m trying to keep my ACL 😂. But I couldn’t stand how trendy bjj was getting. Let’s face it, you’re not gonna be able to push the average bjj class like you would a wrestling team. Your paying to go there and not competing for spots. Most gyms would lose customers lol. That 150 a month is too good. However this is in general, there are bjj teams and schools that are badass and their work ethic is like that of a ncaa wrestling team.
