The Blue Jays have a HUGE PROBLEM...

Спорт

Peter Vryonis discusses the struggles of Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer. He had an opportunity to help the Jays with the bases loaded and no outs. That resulted in a strike out. He has been one of the worst qualified hitters in Major League Baseball this season, and is owed $25 million per season over the next two. This is a huge problem for a Toronto team mired in mediocrity at the moment.

Hi Peter I'm a 90 year old very active gentleman only aTV faof the blue Jays & formerly the expos sinne around 1978 I'm from manitoba or I would go to games.Would like to say I'm very impressed with yours & Nicks summarization games, You were strongly critical of George Springer it was fully justified but you did it like a gentleman saying it truthfully & no bad mouthing like I hear from others on different sports. In yesterdays 3-1 defeat to the Brewers even though Gausman was not at his it was not his fault he kept them in the game' the blues made the Brewers look better than they were.

Springer hasn't done anything spectacular since they took the garbage can away from his pal that was drumming the signals to the Astro hitters.

He was very good in his first two seasons with the team. I think he’s a great player but no longer able to catch up to major league pitching.

Good report! Yes Springer like Cavan has been nothing but a black hole in that lineup this year. It seems we can't do anything with him now because of that big 25 mil annual contract we owe him, but YES, we can BENCH him like you said! And for a long time. I mean just keep him for defensive purposes in the late innings. Give Barger with his powerful arm a better chance in rightfield. Sure he went 0 - 18, so did Davis S up until a few days ago, but his 19th at bat hit a home run. When Barger was here, he may have been 0 - 18, but if you watch the games, you saw he hit the ball hard right at somebody.

@@3UP.3DOWN I hope you do this daily, or almost daily, because when I agree with you, you are fun to watch! But no two people agree all of the time lol! But it would be another podcast I can look forward to everyday, especially during the winter when I can't get enough of good baseball talk! Cheers!

The Blue Jay decline was initiated with the trading of Lourdes Gurriel, Gabriel Moreno and Teoscar Hernandez. Period. That is all on Ross Atkins. For the last two years there has been too much soft contact at DH,3B and the three outfield positions. You have no chance of winning when those five positions simply don't hit. When Danny Jansen is your #2 hitter you have a big problem.

That was the dumbest move of Toronto management. They should be canned.

Teoscar yes, the others I don't think so. Varsho's value this year is more than double both Moreno and Gurriel combined. Hernandez's power in the middle of the order is greatly missed.

Which is worse? The Springer contract or the Vernon Wells contract?

Great question. Springer is handcuffing this team when trying to be competitive. Wells didn't prevent them from competing.

Sad to say...Springer is no longer a n asset. They should just use him for half games. Maybe by the end of the year... just pay off Springer... what a waste of money. Kiermeir and Turner cn be traded for whatever this summer.... Now is the time to try to make the best deals they can to make 2025 better. Might as well sell Kikuchi and Yimi too. This year is a bit of a write off so might as well do what you can to improve your chances in 2025.

Plain and simple a shake up needs to take place beginning with the coach. Coach isn't getting the best out of his players. It's not a coincidence that nobody is doing anything.

If they had Teoscar Guriel Jr Marcus Semien Bo and Vladdy under multi year contracts would Springer be as bad as he is ? Every player is worse on the Blue Jays since Teoscar M Semien Guriel Jr Moreno got traded or signed with another team .It would have cost them a lot of money to keep these players not Moreno though It hurt Kirk Springer Vladdys power numbers for the 2 years they have been gone and now the not being able to hit disease has in Bo Bichette . That is the risk of trading good players or not resigning Semien This could happen !everyone is pressing too hard because a lack of back up good hitters they used to have

I've said it many times, the team went downhill when they let their leader Marcus Semien walk.
