The Black Watch Homecoming Parades 2018 - Dunfermline & Perth [4K/UHD]

Фильм және анимация

In September 2018, The 3rd Battalion of The Royal Regiment of Scotland, The Black Watch, paraded through 4 Scottish towns - Inverness, Forfar, Dunfermline and Perth.
This is the Dunfermline and Perth parades.
Sorry the ContentID police have had their claws into this video and segments have had to be trimmed or muted to ensure that there is no copyright enfrigement.
The good news is I now have directors cuts of these individual parades featuring a sprinkling of commentary in amongst the excellent music!

I never knew Drachinifel was a Drum Major.... I am a Yank here, but descended of Scottish blood. MacAndrew(s). They dropped the Mac when they came to America in the 1800s. My mom would not let my dad listen to the Pipes at home. they drove her nuts... I guess you either love or hate the bagpipes and drums! We would listen to Bluegrass and Scottish Pipe and Drum music when Mom was not around. I have always been very proud of my Scottish heritage, Back in the early 80s or so, my Cousin was stationed around Europe in the Military and did a deep dive in to our family history. We re- discovered our family Crest and Tartar and traced our lineage back to St. Andrew. To go any further back would have taken more money than he had at the time. On my bucket list is a trip to Scotland to see a REAL Scottish Military pipe and drum parade and to visit St. Andrews golf course, and take in the beautiful countryside. Just imagine being the enemy, hearing this coming for several hours, knowing that each beat of that drum brought many angry Scottsmen one step closer to you. It is truly amazing how the bagpipes can be mournful, uplifting and cheerful, and terrifying all at the same time. it brought a tear to my eye. When they passed the Veterans, and they called BATTALION, EYES RIGHT, SALUTE and the vets said SCOTLAND SALUTES wow, what a moment of shared respect. I am far away but my heart is in Scotland.

There was a soldier, a Scottish soldier, Who wandered far away And soldiered far away. There was none bolder, With good broad shoulder. He'd fought in many a fray And fought and won. He'd seen the glory, He'd told the story Of battles glorious and deeds victorious. But now he's sighing, His heart is crying To leave those green hills of Tyrol. Because those green hills are not highland hills Or the island hills, They're not my land's hills And, fair as these green foreign hills may be, They are not the hills of home. And now this soldier, this Scottish soldier, Who wandered far away And soldiered far away, Sees leaves are falling And death is calling And he will fade away in that far land. He called his piper, his trusty piper, And bade him sound a lay... a pibroch sad to play Upon a hillside, a Scottish hillside Not on those green hills of Tyrol. Because those green hills are not highland hills Or the island hills, They're not my land's hills And, fair as these green foreign hills may be, They are not the hills of home. And now this soldier, this Scottish soldier Will wander far no more and soldier far no more And on a hillside, a Scottish hillside You'll see a piper play his soldier home. He's seen the glory, he's told his story Of battles glorious and deeds victorious The bugles cease now, he is at peace now, Far from those green hills of Tyrol. Because those green hills are not highland hills Or the island hills, They're not my land's hills And, fair as these green foreign hills may be, They are not the hills of home. Because those green hills are not highland hills Or the island hills, They're not my land's hills And, fair as these green foreign hills may be, They are not the hills of home.

Talorc MacAllan I agree 100%. What’s sad is especially in the west this is the path the majority seem to want. I don’t watch television or movies these days, but what’s amazing to me is you can see all these shows and movies that replace the roles of Europeans with those of others ethnicities and women. When if it’s a fictional story it’s one thing. They do this with actual historical figures and back that with the education system which never corrects them, you now have a up and coming generation that think history was some multiculturally cultural story with no gender roles. Which they think the white European male has changed In order to take the glory. Which is false. I’m for every ethnic group having pride In their roots and culture, regardless of color or origin. But only in the west do you see the actual population choosing to change their own histories to be more politically correct according to modern standards and seemingly choose to want the eradication of their own cultures. You won’t go Africa and find a European casted as a pharaoh or Shaka Zulu. You won’t go to Asia and find one playing Genghis Khan or Nobunaga. Or South America and find one playing Montezuma. Yet that’s how things are. Anything associated with whites is bad these days. Whites get blamed for everything and the make issues of non issues. Slavery for instance such rage over whist ended over 160 years ago (Not calling slavery right just proving a point). They make it seem like a European invention even though it’s been around since the dawn of man. There’s been slaves of every trace throughout history even whites, which gets ignored. It also gets ignored that at the same time as he European slaver trade You had the Arab slave trade going on. Which was twice as large and twice as cruel. Hell the majority of male African slaves in the Arab slave trade got castrated so then couldn’t “dilute” the Arab bloodlines by running off and sleeping with their women and impregnating them, let alone other Africans. Not to mention the Africans were being captured and sold by other Africans. Or the fact that slavery still exists in the Middle East and Africa Friday. Which you literally never hear about because it doesn’t go with the presented narrative. Europe and the west is already lost. I’ll never forget my roots or history. I come from the Ui Neill dynasty, still a standing member of Clan MacTavish. Our motto is “non oblitius” as a middle finger to clan Campbell but in these days it’s a good motto for life itself. “Strange times are these in which we live when old and young are taught falsehoods. And the one man that dares to tell the truth is called at once a lunatic and fool.” - Plato

No disrespect intended, I first heard of the Black Watch while watching a video about a fictional game called Battletech. I had no idea it was based on a real battalion. I clicked on it very quickly when I saw it recommended while I was watching a bagpipe and drum video from Clanadonia. I am pleased to see this proud battalion returning home, somewhat because of my partial Scottish heritage but mostly because it looks like the people are welcoming them after they have served. I'm sorry, my clumsy words don't adequately convey my thoughts and emotions.
