Man this my generations maiden. This to me was the band that took the torch from the old guard of American thrash and death metal. Paid ultimate homage to both genres and even paid the utmost respect to metal in general. Trevor was a beast of a man the likes of which I've only seen a handful of times. To me he's right up there with dio and lemmy. I told my brother a last year that Trevor was our dio. A goof ball who loved heavy metal and wizards. An everyman. This band has been there for me through so much I wish I could've been there for Trevor. Rip bro we will miss you sorely.

Wow man great comment! well said and a powerful statement that is very fitting. Very few are able to cross the thresholds into the land of metal royalty as well as bridge the generational gap between different eras and styles. Trevor as well as TBDM have definitely earned a seat at the table with the all the heros and legends of the music we love so much. 100% certified death metal royalty. I also have to say that Trevor was in a league of his own with his lyrics. Death metals equivalent to Shakespeare or any of the truly revered and studied poets/writers.

@@k7j007 yes he's literally a death metal Neil Peart. The eloquence, the vocabulary, the creativity, and the vision. Not just to write great lyrics but to create a story and atmosphere that has been so long gone from metal and added a whole new level to death metal lyrics. Such a huge loss I hadn't cried in a long time. But I feel like crying every time I think of our brother Trevor.

My dad is a grammy winning country guitar player. I grew up on TBDM, among a lot of other bands in the 2000's, and as a result have been a metal lead player since my mid teens. We've always had differences when it came to guitar players and who we thought was "that guy" on any given week. I'm 30 now, and I went to visit the old man and I showed him Brandon Ellis. All he could say is "this guy has mastered this sound, he's perfect for this kind of music". He wasn't saying that to put Brandon in a box. What he was really getting at was that Brandon really opened a door to my dad as far as appreciating extreme metal. It's a door I have tried to open since I was like 12 years old. What an incredible player.

I have no real preference between Ryan and Brandon, two different styles that are both great. Ryan's was a bit more fluid and tasteful, while Brandon's is a bit more over the top, 80s style like you said. They both fit the music great in my opinion.

That's the cool thing when comparing Verminous to other albums it is very natural for live settings. Very feel oriented and jammy. Great band!
