The Birth of PROVO: The Underground Press That Drove Amsterdam's 1960s Anarchist Revolution

CHAPTER 3: The Birth of PROVO
An Unofficial History of Amsterdam's Counter Culture Revolution of the 1960s
In the Amsterdam of 1965, the unruly youth were ready to be radicalised. Every revolution needs its philosophers, and every philosopher needs their publisher.
When the anarchist Roel van Duijn met the printer Rob Stolk, the two knew that they could guide the revolution by coming together and printing their own underground publication, called PROVO magazine, where they would publish illegal and illicit articles to be the guiding light to the youngsters on the street. They would spread the Gospel of Anarchy.
When they joined forces with the Witch Doctor, Robert Jasper Grootveld, the mad man who was attacking the state through his wild Happenings every Saturday night, Amsterdam would never be the same again.
The police were not happy, and soon a giant game of cat and mouse descended upon the city.
In each episode of The Shite Guide to Provo we'll take a spicy peep at the grooviest story you've never heard, the missing link between the Beats and the Hippies.
*All the spicy hip hop beats featured were made in a royal palace by d'beats. If you want to check out his luscious instrumentals and some tracks that feature in shite guides, check out The World's Shittest Beat Tapes and The World's Shittest Mixtapes @ goodvibesociety.bandcamp.com
If you want to help the channel out, you could consider throwing a few pennies in the hat for the new equipment fund. My camera and laptop are absolute dogshite (as is most evident), so if you wanna throw something in to help the cause, it'd be much appreciated.
It's not about making money, but making better shite. ko-fi.com/shiteguides

Best channel on KZread. I'd know absolutely nothing about the Hapsburgs, Provos, or windmill farms without your videos. The custom music is what sets this channel lightyears beyond any competition. I'm very appreciative for the time and effort taken to produce all of these videos.
Awesome episode! Really enjoyed watching it! Glad to see you back!

Couple of them are still alive and very much kicking. Was gonna wait until I had a few more episodes up and then send them to see if anyone would like a chat. The whole project was supposed to be one person with zero resources, like a self contained Provo.

@@shiteguides Yes, this is so Provo! Perhaps a follow-up with them would be outside the constraints of form, and therefore Ok?
Do you have links to their resources?
Lekker bezig! Not that shite at all🙃.
