A 1:21 left on the clock and Brady has the ball in a tie game? 2001: "I would play for overtime". 2019: The other team left too much time on the clock for Brady. Game over.

Love that moment with Brady and Bledsoe at the end where Tom slaps Drew's pads with that huge smile while excitedly shouting "WE DID IT!". Tom knew that had Drew not done such an amazing job taking over for him in the AFC championship game, the Pats probably wouldn't have made it to that Super Bowl, just another reason why Tom Brady is regarded as one of the best, his humility and gratitude for his teammates is arguably unmatched.

For the younger fans watching this who do not know/remember: The Rams were favored -14 in this game (meaning they were favored to win by two touchdowns). At halftime with New England leading 14-3 we were all in shock. The Rams had not been dominated like that all season, much less the previous two seasons as well. You can give props to Belichick and the Patriots’ gameplan, but the deciding factor in the victory was their ability to get to Kurt Warner, who was either hit or scrambling for much of the game. The Rams were never the same. The Marc Bulger era in St. Louis started next season I believe.

There are 2 plays that the Refs blew the clock dead and the Pats were stopped in bounds, there is also a BLATANT intentional grounding that went uncalled on Brady. Add in a missed tackle by Dre Bly and the Pats had more help on that last drive than the average 4 year old learning to ride a bike with its dad.

~I moved to Boston as a kid in 1985 and became a fan of the Boston teams in short order, although it took me longer to become a basketball fan. The 2001 Patriots were the 1st team I was a fan of that won a championship. It's hard to believe that no Boston team won a championship for 15 years. It was heartbreaking at times. I'm still not over the 86 World Series, What a terrible thing for a 13 year old to go through. I've actually lived in AZ since 1987 and am a fan of the local teams, but I will always be a fan of my Boston teams. The Diamondbacks beating the Yankees in the 2001 World Series was double the fun. It's very rewarding being a Boston fan now, the younger generation will never understand the pain it used to be and the feeling of our teams being cursed. I'm greedy, I want the Bruins and Celtics to win championships this year. What an incredible accomplishment that would be.

People today might not appreciate the GSOT because of the many offensively gifted teams in the modern NFL, but they were so explosive that the league had to temporarily relax the rules in regards to covering wide receivers to keep them in check. Bill Belichick used this to the fullest in this game. After the GSOT was dismantled, the rules went back to what they were before.

Google it remember seeing on the news and I was just child then but this rams team was by far the most explosive offense I've ever seen the game before this they beat the packers 17 to 45 and the packers never lost a game in a dome stadium prior.

Fan for life Bledsoe will always be a favorite of mine too. He could have wrecked the season if he wasn’t such a class act. And we only got to this game because we had him. 2 things stand on my Nth watch of this.... 1) Before the long completion to Troy Brown, Brady throws the ball away knowing he can't take a sack. Many QBs still get sacked when it's the one thing they can't let happen. #babyGOAT 2.) With 11 seconds and counting, the entire Patriots team looks COOL AS CUCUMBERS as they properly set up for a spike. How many times have other teams including the reigning Champs/KC completely blundered end of game scenarios like this even in the regular season? It's honestly amazing how composed the 2001 Pats look, as if they've been there 1000 times already...it's really wild how other teams just lose their marbles in high-pressure situations like this. 2001 and 2017 were years that went to the Smartest Team on the Field. Go Pats!!!

Yep, he kicked from the Pats 20 yard line, jk. It's a team effort.

Facts, they don't understand the kicker only gets a chance at a good kick cuz the offense makes many good plays to put them in FG range

he only had 145 yards lmao. He didn't win ONLY because of the kicker, he won because of the total team effort, in which he didn't contribute much.

@@homelander39 Well he played VERY well his next two. He played well against the Seahawks, though the passing defense was significantly worse than the year before. Then against the falcons he threw for a lot of volume, but with a lot of passing attempts, and against one of the worst passing defenses in the league, so he was very mediocre that game. SB 53 he was obviously not good. He was very lucky to have top 8 defenses every single time he even WENT to the SB, except for once when he lost in 2011. He would be more iimpressive to me if he carried his team hard like Peyton did in 2006 with the 30th ranked special teams and 23rd best defense in points allowed. Brady's wins are to be credited somewhat to him, but his defense helps a lot.

This moment in history is important. For this was the day everything changed. For what was supposed to be a very good Rams team destined to win at least 2 Super bowls ran into what forged into the GREATEST singular unit in history. The defense came alive once they decoded Belichick's wicked gameplanning. A year b4. Ted Johnson famously said," were not rocket scientists". Well, soon the patriots would figure out who they were destined to be. By not playing with the media. The first part of the patriots dynasty was ruled by a class of leaders who once they joined and locked together were unbeatable. Literally. They went on a 22 game win streak from sept 03 to oct 04. This team will be remembered. Forever. The legendary patriots.

I'm 35 now, but I was 17 when that season started. I remember Bledsoe going down, and the Patriots being written off (not they were doing all that great to begin with). That was the year 9/11 happened as well, and the Diamonbacks just beat the Yankees in an epic 7-game series (robbing NYers of some solace). Brady was mainly a game manager that season and it worked. I rooted for the Raiders and the Rams that year, and the boy delievered for the Pats....smh Prob. one of the biggest upsets in nfl history. Props to Bledsoe for keeping their season alive against the Steelers.

This game is such a treat. I've been conditioned for so long now to expect a penalty every time a big play or big hit happens. This is just football. That pick 6 by Ty Law would've gotten called back today because illegal hit to the head by Vrabel. But you know what I'm fine with it. The more rules there are, the more you leave it to interpretation of the onfield ref to make a subjective call which leaves to more controversy. And I'm so pleased with the commentary. They just call the game as they see it. Now every play by play/color man has to have their own view and opinion of the officiating and the coaching decisions after every play. Oh idk Joe, I wouldn't have called a timeout there and save it for after 3rd down, when the sun set just a little more and the temperature dropped by a half degree to allow the ball to travel the air at quicker rate. Blow me.
