Maybe people, if comfortable, could send in pics of their hair with different issues and you could help them by seeing their hair?

I have thin and fine hair. When my hair is one length my curls won't do anything and tends to fall flat. Having some light layering helps a ton and makes it appear more full. My stylist only layers the hair around the crown so the perimeter stays nice and full. He is the only stylist to ever do it so that my hair isnt left too and I hope to god he never retires 😂 100% team wet cut over here for fine hair also! I agree that you get a much stronger cut that way.
I would love to see a whole detailed video on how to style and refresh bangs multiple ways (side, middle, no part) Caring/sleeping with them would also be great.

I would love to see how she styled as well.
YOU are so beautiful!!! BOTH of you!!! Getting a haircut in a couple of hours!! Embracing my gray AHHHH Did a reverse color a year ago Feb and hope to get a cut VERY similar to yours Mel, to get rid of the REST of the OLD color which is more stringy than my NEW NICE CURLY hair!!! Thank you so much for all you present to us!!! WISH ME LUCK!!!
One of my best friends growing up would always joke that my hair is sentient because it reacts to the weather and my moods. As an adult, I compare my hair to a plant going into transplant shock after a haircut. It needs a few days to stop freaking out and settle back into itself. So maybe he was right all along. 🤔
Fantastic live stream team ManesByMell. Audio was perfect, camera setup was on point. Demonstrations, qna, this had everything.
*Mel watching your videos has helped me manage my hair so much* the way i style my hair has completely changed in the past few months and i dry cut my hair a couple weeks ago using your tips and it actually came out looking so good 😭 my curl angel 🙏🏽
This was great, thank you. Getting my first official curly haircut next week. Previously I’ve sent my hairdresser your videos. ❤. With her permission of course, I had only gotten a strait cut in the past and then used clips to tame it. I’m her only curly hair client.
I loved watching this ladies!! Thank you!
Thank you for explaining different textures including wavy, curly and coily hair face framing with short curtain bangs. Awesome!
Mell, you look gorgeous in that cute outfit! You inspired me again 💫 with your full moon talk and I trimmed an inch mid-video. Now the curls are bouncy! 💜
Thanks for the live stream, it was great. Please give some advice on cutting the back of your hair with the pigtail cut on almost shoulder length hair. I always mess it up and have to go to the stylist to get it fixed.
This was so informative/helpful. I've struggled explaining the style I would like to achieve with my 2b/2c dense, aging, somewhat coase hair & your tips on techniques make so much sense . I have more confidence getting a consultation with a stylist first to go over how to best achieve a low maintenance sassy cut. I had a stylist use a slicing/sliding the scissor technique which created lots of frizz (similar to thinning shears) When I explained to her that this technique created lots of frizz & please let's not use this she took offense. I've always said that the foundation to achieve a great look/style all starts with a great cut for your type of hair. Please continue with more videos on this topic.
Happy Texture Thursday!! Bummed I missed it live!! I always love chatting with you guys!! Much love and happiness!! Xoxo 😘
My goodness! Mell has the most beautiful curls!!
Loved this! Thank you❤
Mell, thank you so much for sharing your expertise! With the help of this video and the rule you shared of even and odd numbers for the length, I managed to cut my own hair. Plus I am very happy and confident with the way it turned out 🎉👏 Thank you 🤝
Love hanging out with you guys! 🥰
I'm subscribed! I just found you!! And boy am I glad that I did!! You're awesome!!
Omg! I so would LOVE if you could do virtual hair analysis, like see the natural state of someone’s hair, determine the texture & density, then maybe also when wet. And possibly give some tips on what to tell our stylist for a cut that would really flatter our face, and hair texture best. I know I have alot of hair but I also think the strands are fine?! Not sure. Loved this video so much! Esp to see what happens with thinning shears up close! Wow! ❤ Enjoy the weekend, Seesters!
Love the haircut! ❤
I loved 'The Idea of You'!! And, yes, Anne Hathaway looks amazing! Loved her bangs!
Help me with vocabulary to talk to my stylist. What’s the difference between layers vs graduating? Also a video on sectioning to style. Where? How? I feel like I’m doing it all wrong. Also is there a way to get my natural 3c curls to be a bit bigger and plumper? I feel like what I’m doing encourages the small curl clumps.
The Magical World of Mermaid Hairs! 🧜🏼♀️🧜🏼♀️starring Mell & Amanda! What’s not to love. You get hair tips, humor, and more. Bangs omg, need & wants. 🤭❤️
I need to know your foundation/blush used! Beautiful ❤❤❤😊
I wish there were hairstylists like you where i live! I got dry curly cuts for about 2 years & i do have a finer texture. I knew I wasn’t crazy because my ends started looking like they were split & i dont even use heat! I just went this week to a regular hairstylist to get a normal wet haircut. I was not loving my hair at all 🥲
I love y'all's curls!! Mine have come back over the past few years. My question is, what's the Best way to cut/trim naturally curly hair? Wet or Dry? I'm desperately looking for a curl specialist and not having any luck.
You have great stuff! I was wondering if you have a video or a way to find a local (to me) curly girl stylist. Or what questions to ask, because I have found stylists just say they can cut curly, color, and style curly hair and when I get there, they are just dry hard raking and damaging my curly hair, then the cut is for a straight hair cut. Thanks!
Hi seesters! What is the best cut to avoid stringy ends but maintain somewhat of a shape? Everytime I get layers and they start to grow out, my ends look so thin! I'm currently trying to grow my hair long but I feel like I'm losing shape. What cut would be best? Loved the stream btw ❤
Hey love you both. You really have inspired me to love my curls again. So I have scheduled a haircut this weekend but I’m nervous about explaining how I want my hair cut. I really want your haircut actually but how to explain it when a picture only shows the front not the back. Help please. 😮
Lovely live stream!! My Question: If I have fine hair and no much volume, can I achieve volume if I ask for graduation on my next haircut? 👀 Love u and ur videos btw!! 🌟🌟
I’ve never had bangs with my curls, but my hair is a lot like Amanda’s so maybe I might give it a try. 🤔 I have cut my own hair for years. It’s so easy. I do it dry, and this might not make sense, but I actually straighten it before I cut it.
Mel your channel has taught me so much about curly hair I can't even describe. My question is: I personally have wavy/curly hair that is fine, thin to normal density and have just been playing around with products to make it even curlier. It is medium length and I was thinking of getting it cut to your length now but I have always had medium to long hair my whole life so I am seriously nervous about the cut. I think it may look too flat on me and I would regret it. What do you think would be the haircut for me since my hair isn't full of volume but more like the unnamed mannequin but with a few more curls? Thank you so much! Moonah
I subscribed to your newsletter a while back now, and you mentioning it now has made me realise I've not received any newsletters. As you send them once a week I should have received lots of them. Are you having troubles with your (e)mail outs?
I am subscribed. I have wavy/curly hair. It's always a bit unruly. Throughout my school years I blow dried it basically bc I didn't know what to do with it. Once I was older and was braver I allowed it to be wavy but would still blow dry it some to get it to look fuller. I'm not sure if it is fine or thin. But I basically had hair that other women wanted, or so they'd say when I was in the salon. But, I'm now 60 and a lot of thinning has happened since menopause and I'm partly grey along with the brown. I don't mind the color at all and will embrace the Grey. I'm just not sure what cut would be best for my hair. It's medium length which is my normal or longer. I've never been a short haired gal cause I think I look fat with short hair. My .ask haircut I decided to cut it all off cause COVID broke it off in several places so I really had no choice. So, it should be pretty healthy. I've been using a castor oil shampoo and conditioner on my hair lately. If you get to this and I've not totally confused you, could you help me decide on what type of hair cut to get. I don't really want to lose the length I just need a style. I can send a photo(s) Oh yeah btw, dont do bangs, too much thinning in that area, so I guess i need to know what type of cut as far as layering or the other one you discussed. And also while trying to keep as much length as possible and still look full. Not too much to ask for, right!?😂
My wife is currently sporting a 'curly pixie cut' due to the weight of her very thick and curly hair. Several years ago, she and her sister grew out their hair for the purpose of donating it. My wife was able to donate a little over 12 inches. The stylist was surprised at how much it weighed. She took the hair into the back to weigh it, and it weighed over a pound. She has grown out her a a couple times after that, but likes to keep it shorter.
I have thin and fine hair. When my hair is one length my curls won't do anything and tends to fall flat. Having some light layering helps a ton and makes it appear more full. My stylist only layers the hair around the crown so the perimeter stays nice and full. He is the only stylist to ever do it so that my hair isnt left too thin and I hope to god he never retires 😂 100% team wet cut over here for fine hair also! I agree that you get a much stronger cut that way.
When doing a layered cut, do you cut the length first, then layers? I currently have medium length hair with all over layers and am wanting to go a little shorter. I’m planning on using the pin wheel method. Thanks for your videos! They have given me the courage to diy!
LAYERS QUESTION... Hey Mell! 👋 I had long curly hair before finally trying the pigtail haircut last night. My hair is more a very heavy wave, no tight curls like yours. My hair is very thick, also. Before the cut, the last cut I did was a unicorn haircut resulting in a disconnected mullet(which was a long time ago). I did a fair job this time, getting my face framed and connected to the back. I also cut my length and got my dead ends. My problem now is that the layers in the back are too long. What method can I use to layer the back up a little bit more? I would call what I have Long layers. Not much separation at all. Thank you in advance ☺️ Much love from Jennifer in Central Mississippi ❤️
Have you seen the korean/japanese bangs yet??? They aldo include the side parts in a very destinged way to wear it out when the rest is in a pony. I love it.

Destinged is not a word.
Can you do a video tackling some issues for girls with permed hair?
Hi Seesters! You've mentioned that it is unhealthy for hair to air dry completely. Is this for only certain length and/or porosity? Is there a style best suited for air drying? I have ear pain and blow drying can sometimes be very painful. So those days my hair is loose curl or near straight out of necessity but I want bouncy curls boo!.
Where did you get that cute top Mel!?
Hello Mel, I love your videos and have a question for you. I have naturally curly hair. Not tight, more between wavy and curly. My issue is that as I get older my hair is thinning, on top. The rest of my hair looks great. Can you advise me the best cut to add more thickness on the top and crown? It's awful. I don't look good with flat hair. Yuk. Thanks so much.
yes.
Hi Mel, I want to do bangs but I wear glasses and Im afraid of having too much on my face. I have thin hair that gets weighed down easily. What haircut do you recommend. Thanks!
I’ve tried subscribing to your Newsletter many times but after I fill out the info required on your site and hit subscribe, nothing happens. Help!
Hi, thank you for your videos. My hair is type 3b curls, very dry, thick an just above shoulder length. How can I ask for a haircut that looks great straight and curly? I like long layers with more weight at the bottom but it always tends to look like a triangle. I want shape more volume in the crown area and by the sides, but I dint want too many short layers
Hi beautiful girlie's. I use all innersense products. I have very fine hair, and it works well. However, I would like to try the new aveda be curly. Do you think I would get the same result? Xx
Can I do the pigtails cut but with more ponies….let’s say 4 that are somewhat evenly spaced apart to get more of an even length rather than the U shape?
What kind of haircut do you recommend for fine curly hair with thinning on top?
I have fine not thick curly hair and like the pigtail cut. The one issue I have with it though is that after I’ve done it a few times, the back towards the bottom looks not layered or stacked enough, and then I have to go to a professional. Is there a way to stack the back bottom with a pigtail? I have chin length hair now and just cut a small amount each time I do the cut just to refresh the layers, but the back eventually becomes not layered enough this way. The professional I go to says that this is because I’m only cutting the sides when I do this cut.
Hey Mel I need some help pretty please. When I brush my hair very gently when dry a large amount of hair is coming out. Though I do not brush it everyday. However when I jump in the shower and brush it with conditioner in I could brush it forever and hair would just keep building up in my brush.
Can you do something for wavy hair.
Mel, what cut do i ask for to get a cut like yours? I have fine, low density 3b curls. Thx😊

Blunt bob with slight graduation + round layers . Show em a selfie of mine 🫶🏻
Hello! I also have naturally curly hair. I missed the live video, unfortunately, but I do have a few questions. What's a "3B"? My hair is in no way as neat and kempt and bouncy as yours and I always wonder what I'm doing wrong. Also, I recently got bangs cut in but my stylist did cut my hair wet and my bangs just went "BOING!!" and the bangs were SO short, they looked ridiculous. Now I have to wait until they grow in! AHHHHH!!!

@@DarWo438 Also, I wonder if Mel's hair frizzes when it's windy outside? I know mine does. I can't even open the car windows. How do you stop THAT from happening? 🤔
Is it OK to use a razor cut on curly, wavy hair?

❤🎉cuties😊
My stylist for years is not on my curly hair journey with me, but she used to listen to me. I have stayed out of loyalty, but she’s been distracted by her personal stuff. However, today I realized that it’s over because she destroyed my curls today (and color), and I am in tears… how do you fix a shit haircut?
Ugh. The thinning shears. One time I had to physically put my hand up to block those things coming at me 😂. And of course it someone who boasted that they "specialized" in curly hair. I trust no one in my town anymore. I can see why people travel hours to get their haircut by people they trust.
You can get a really fantastic dry cut on curly hair if you press it out first.
I am seriously considering cutting my hair to Mel’s length but I’ve never had that short of hair before. My hair is 2C-3A with a very fine texture and low porosity, it can be very flat on top also. The length right now is down to my belly button, is this a bad idea? I’m scared that if I cut it this short my hair will just be wavy, is it normal for some hairs to curl more when it’s longer? Or is that a myth?

So people have different experiences with this. Some ppl lose curl the shorter their hair is, whereas a lot of ppls hair will curl even more when it’s cut. Since you’re nervous I would suggest cutting it shorter, but not AS short as Mel’s, so you can see how your curls react to less weight on them first. Maybe cut your hair to your shoulders (keep in mind how curly your hair is- if you wet cut your hair to your shoulders, and your hair gets even curlier, it could easily spring up so much that it’s shorter than what you’re going for. I like to do dry cutting so that I can see how much length I need to cut without it getting too short once it dries later. If you do a dry cut do some research before you do it, most curly stylists suggest cutting it on dry hair with no product in it. Then after you’ve cut it, do your wash and style and then you can cut a little more as needed) once you cut it to your shoulders, then washed and styled it, you can see if your curls got curlier, stayed the same, or if you lost some of the curliness. If you’re happy with the curl level, then go shorter and take it to Mel’s length! You could always do a simple cut yourself when you cut it to see how your curls react to losing length and then go to a curly stylist to do the final haircut.

My hair is 3b ish and belly button length as well but I have layers and my curls are much smaller and more defined in the front and more loose in the back. Must be gravity🤣 but gives me a good amount of volume in my crown

My hair is also 2C/3A. It's low porosity and very fine. When I cut my hair it springs up and gets much curlier. The shorter I go the curlier it gets. Taking the weight off makes a huge difference.
How can I get you to cut my hair? Do you work for the public??????
I went and got a curly cut in October and the stylist used thinning shears on my hair. It ruined my pattern and thinned it out so bad. It’s now May and my hair is finally starting to look normal!
L'Oreal lately promotes being cruelty-free.
You’re cutting Amanda’s hair while wet. Why do so many stylists cut curly hair when it’s dry? Which is the better way?

I'm trying to stop myself from cutting my hair because i want to grow it out then shape it because I've had short hair most of my life but i want to be able to style it more, so I'm watching you cut to get my urges away🤣🥹
