The BIGGEST Mental Beatdown in Boxing History!

Спорт

When the Gypsy King came up against the 10 year super champion, he had size, skill and speed to his advantage.. More importantly, he had the mental edge. Five years ago, boxing fans witnessed one of the most convincing and one-sided mental beatdowns - that the sport has ever seen.

Honestly Motivedia, personally I think this is your best work yet - probably because it speaks to me as a devout Fury fan. But you absolutely nailed how Fury operated; articulate, confident, tough, boisterous in some instances. He has always delivered what he said he would deliver boxing-wise, but it's only now in hindsight looking at his mental health troubles we realise how profound his deliveries were/are. Hats off Motivedia, you've smashed this video about a part of boxing - that can often be overlooked - out of the park 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I wouldn’t call it a mental beat down. Contrary to what this video claims it wasn’t the first time he’d heard an opponent run their mouth non-stop. Klitschko was 39 years old. His best days were long behind him while Fury was in his prime. That’s really what it came down to. In my opinion the fact that he still took Fury the distance at that age was impressive. Ask Deontay Wilder how hard that is to do.

Fury was stripped of his IBF title 10 days after the Klitschko bout as he was unable to grant a fight with the IBF's mandatory challenger, Vyacheslav Glazkov, due to a rematch clause in his contract with Klitschko. The rematch did not materialize as Fury suffered from mental health issues leading to alcoholism, recreational drug use, and extreme weight gain. He was also charged with anti-doping violations.

Wlad's partner was taken into rehab a month prior to the fight suffering from post natum depression. I'm sure his mind was elsewhere, but no-one seems to account for this. You could see it in his performance, the fire was gone. Fury's mind seems to have been elsehwere for half his career, it's a shame he didn't grant Wlad a rematch when Wlad would have been more focused and righted this strange defeat. We've seen Fury at 35 just struggle to beat someone who's never been in a boxing match. Let's see if at 39 he can, or will be willing, to compete with the hungriest upcoming young fighters, or if he gets outpointed see if people will call it a "mental beatdown".

  • @frankjaeger393

The mental breakdown thing is nonsense, Klitschko struggled with Fury's movement but it's not like Fury didn't struggle with Wladimir's defense he did too and looked awkward missing Wlad and clumsy spinning round sometimes missing. Also, I've punch counted this fight as never convinced with Compubox and Klitschko landed more not much only 2 more punches but he landed more effective punches and more to the head, he also had the centre of the ring all fight and pressed, Fury threw more but a lot of punches was not intended to land often jabbed to control the space as he was having to pivot a lot on the front foot, pivoting you are vulnerable because the weight on the front foot with back foot of ground so should always fill the space when pivot which he did with jab this isn't effective though Klitschko controlling ring generalship and pressing is more effective you don't want to be the one pivoting round outside of the ring throwing ineffective jabs because in vulnerable position opponent has put you in.

@but why sometimes champions are fortunate enough to be in a spell where no one of any merit is challenging them, i'm not seeing a list of people in klitschko's record that i think WOW! about. IF you go for 5/10 years and fight poor opposition, it doesn't make you a great champion, it just means you were fortunate. klitschko was limited as fury pointed out, whilst fury IS exceptional, his foot movement, his upper body movement, his glove work, his speed, ALL should not belong to a man of 6 foot 9 inches, but they do. after a 3 year lay off, he took the best punch in the 12th. round of a fight with a man rated as the most 'explosive' puncher ever, and got up from it. for me his only worry is being stopped by a cut, perhaps that is his achilles heel, but the we all know what a fearsome warrior achilles was.

I’m no longer sat in my room whispering at my tv at 2 in the morning. I’m watching fights in the pub or in the front room with friends and family which is nice 😂

i know this is from 3 months ago and long been irrelevant but the thing about getting in people's heads has 2 downsides: 1) it can backfire, TREMENDOUSLY at that, there have been plenty of examples in the past of the opponent keeping calm and the trash talk just motivates them to work harder, getting in people's heads is essentially a coin flip on whether the opponent will become undisciplined, wild, or straight up forget to punch like klitchko did which is great because it allows you to counter, land more and put together combinations, or they remain calm and might catch you with a tighter punch while you're expecting them to be open and/or keep up a higher pace for more rounds, neither of which you want them to do. on top of that you're essentially betting your entire career on one fight, if you're talking trash all high and mighty then lose it could ruin your reputation to a boxer that's all talk, think of what happened to wilder after the second fury fight, or how Ali's career was nearly ruined by his losses to fraizer and norten, amongst the general population he was seen as a "has been" until he beat goerge foreman, it's INCREADIBLY risky to try to get to someone's head through trassh talk

dalefletcher111 very true, mate.. If _that_ version of Fury could go down like that in the 12th, and still rise to his feet, then there is absolutely no chance Wilder puts him away now, when he’s back in top form. The first fight was Wilders last best chance. Now, all Wilder is good for is being relentlessly *fed* punches, while providing a semi decent tick-over fight before undisputed. 👌🏻

Style wise a slugger like Wilder is at a disadvantage against an out-boxer like Fury. One major flaw with Wilder is his inability to take a punch. Fury is not even known for his punching power, yet Wilder fell several times on their fight. A slugger should not only be hard hitting, but also durable at the same time. Take a look at Foreman, Lyle, and Liston for example. While these three have questionable stamina, at least they were tough. Ali an out-boxer had to tire them out before beating them.
