It’s one thing to get into your opponents head, but to get into his head through a language barrier… this fight is what made McGregor so huge imo, Eddie Alvarez and Nate Diaz were just the icing on top.

I think the Eddie fight cemented his status as an all time great because he needed to prove that those 13 seconds weren't just a fluke, the Diaz loss didn't hurt really because he fought a dude 2 weight divisions bigger than him and was known for being the unbreakable cardio monster but to be champ champ after that was just wild, sucks that he lost that drive that he actually shit talked Aldo about. Saying Aldo cared more about his family while fighting was the only thing Conor cared about and now he's more worried about making money and other revenue than having that hunger for fighting

@@like2jo4796 you can't put Aldo in the GOAT conversation then you haven't watched his entire career. The man was destroying the WEC featherweight division (which were the best guys in the world) dominated when they came to the UFC as well. Dude beat the best of the previous generation and his generation. Sure he lost to Conor but he then went on to have a strong bantamweight run while in the twilight of his career. He even had a small run as a gatekeeper to the top of the featherweight division. Aldo is top 5 UFC champs of all time and is without a doubt the best featherweight the sport has seen. So sick of this double champ stuff meaning more than defending the belt at this point. There is a reason defending the belt for a long time is considered the hardest thing to do. It's because you have guys like Conor, Cejudo, Weidman or even Johnny Hendricks. Who are training day in and day out for years and years with the ultimate goal of beating you. Hell look at Usman vs Edwards, Edwards has been focused on beating Usman for years now and when he got his shot he pulled it off.

From his rise here by defeating Aldo to reaching the top with 2 belts and finally his loss to Khabib, what a journey, what a story.

This was just an absolute mental manipulation masterclass by Conor. You can see it in Aldo's eyes during every press conference that he was being chipped away at. I'm honored to have been around to watch this all go down.

It is true that that was "The Biggest Mental Beatdown in MMA History," but because UFC/Dana allowed even racist remarks towards Aldo. Dana also had Pre-Planned this bout to happen in the good-old USA, knowing dayum well conor would get all the support. One snake supporting and feeding a frenzied racist White American mass(es). Go figure. The first fight should have taken place in Brazil, then if a rematch happened, in the USA. Yes, THESE Are the mental games that had conor winning that fight. Dana also avoided the Zingano/Ronda rematch even after Ronda PROMISSED Cat the rematch. That rematch didn't take place, nor Aldo's well deserved rematch against conor, in Brazil, because Dana-snake knew better the results would be different. But White people are very ignorant and arrogant on these matters, and their "in only 14 seconds" which of course, intellectually means there must surely be a rematch but they avoid intellect and say it deserved no rematch. Fast bouts are the ones that MUST be given rematch consideration, intellectually so.

As a fellow Irishman watching Conor McGregor's fights before he fought Mayweather, was one of the most beautiful experiences in my life uo to that point. After Mayweather money, watching him fight has been heartbreaking.

Yup. Then he was supposed to fite desantos, ended up fiting nate in 2 WARS! But, the experiences w/nate made him such a great fiter against Eddie, I think(mentally). Like, I just had 2 wars against Nate, what the hell are YOU gonna do? His BEST fite! Yeah, then u had the CRINGY pressers w/ mayflower+ kabib, beat an old cowboy, then 2 losses to Dustin... The Mayweather fight was not a disappointing one at all, if it was mixed martial arts you would have torn Mayweather in half, going all of those rounds with one of the best and boxing with it only being his boxing debut should have been enough to shut everybody up right there.

For me I jumped ship after the khabib fight.. as a black man who grew up fighting a lot due to racism and prejudice, I don't tolerate or enable the kinda almost anti Muslim rhetoric he was throwing around during that fight week. It wasn't all out racist/hateful, but it definitely wasn't cool. I'm sure being from Ireland/being Irish, that wasn't of your concern, but I am interested in your take on it, no matter which side you align with. I've never been to Ireland, so idk what race relations are like there. I was definitely happy to see him get mauled the way he did after everything he said tho 😂

I wish I could say that the rest of the country was the same, but there is always those people in every race who feel like they were a bigger victim than others. After moving to America to go to college I seen a huge difference, between the way that things were going between the black and white race. President Obama was choosing twice to run America, and race relations were going better than they ever had in the world. Then after president Trump gets elected to run America the Democratic politicians, started pushing the whole Russian interference scandal wich was really ridiculous and childish. Race relations were pushed back by 50 years, because the power hungry politicians and main stream media outlets wanted to go with what worked to get Obama elected. Every black super Star that was known by the entire world started endorsing Joe Biden, wich was their business but then some like LeBron James and jussie Smollett went as far as fakeing being attacked by White supremacists wich was totally messed up. I have to admit that the stuff that the Democratic party and main stream media did, worked on my dumbass even though there were certain Republicans warning us that it was a bunch of bullshit. I can't believe that I was fooled into voting for a poor old man, who should be getting tooken care of by a professional nursing staff instead of being used as a pawn for the people who are really running America. It's never going to happen again because the Democratic party, Lost more support than just me and my family and friends. Everybody I know that voted for Biden, is completely upset about how they were fooled by the Democratic politicians. Now we are all praying to God, that he doesn't get us into a nuclear war.

Tbf I think that was the perfect climax, obviously not for Aldo fans but this was the perfect movie ending even down to Conor calling the shot. You can easily see this in a movie and would be epic, to see it actually happen is even crazier. This era of UFC was just unmatched, Conor downfall has been sad but that rise was just different

Yeah, it was for me the peak of the sport. Conor changed the game. Then he went crazy/lost his way, and everyone else tried to be a cheap imitation of him, and it just wasn't the same after that. Conor rising up through the ranks was amazing. From his bolo KO in his debut, to when he fought perfectly against Eddie. It was amazing that it even lasted that long. Maybe I grew older and just naturally lost interest, but it was less exciting after that. (I had been a die hard fan since 2006 when I saw GSP KO Matt Hughes). That said, I still can't help check back what is going on, and there do seem to be some exciting new guys around e.g. Israel and Nganue...

he never lost his way, you just stopped being blinded by your fandom, he's always been like this, he never *went* crazy, he was always the kind of pos that assaulted random people, flung shattered glass in bystander's eyes, that was just him being him, and a lot of people were mystified by the force of nature he was in the cage and didn't clock that kind of underlying issue until his career started to wash-out. it's kind of a similar situation to tony ferguson. he's always been unhinged, he was better at managing it before TUF, and from there his untreated mental decay just kept going as we stood by, absolutely mystified and captivated by el cucuy, only for the adoration to give way to horror when the failing career meant all we could see was the railing holding his psyche together fall apart. there are few things as frankly vile as the bus incident, or a journalist in the audience saying how strong tony had to be to go through a full psychotic break (phrased much more elegantly though,) and bounce back into the cage with poise and determination, and tony just sat there and said "fuch you, fuch your advice" to a guy that *wasn't giving him advice?* that was when people started registering that his "blades n shades" bit, and his entire persona, wasn't a persona, he's just genuinely unwell, he's not playing a character, that's just him. with covington, you know that he's just playing the heel, and it works. finding out tony is just legit in need of help, and realizing that dana "i banned a guy for wearing pink because i am a sad little man" white has been sending someone that is inches away from psychosis into the cage to be absolutely destroyed by men like chandler and gaethje? that is fuching horrifying. dana is such a dogschitte person man. his microscopic member and ego means that he won't discharge tony for his own good, but gave brock lesnar passes for roids, banned a guy for mary use, but then bent backwards to allow the diaz bros to use it. this is a bloodsport. sending someone like ferguson out is legitimately dangerous to him. it is making him worse. tbis and his alcoholism + schizophrenia is not a good mix. mcgregor should have been axed long before trying to hide two belts because he was afraid to lose, long before the bus incident, but we were all just awestruck at him. for how weird of a dude he is, he was a true master of martial arts, that nobody can deny, but this more visible connor, is the same connor, just without the shiny belts to blind us.

I took my son to watch McGregor's 2nd fight in the UFC when he beat Holloway at the Boston Garden.... As McGregor was walking to the octagon I told my son this guy is going to be the biggest star in the UFC.. I never thought he'd end up being the biggest star in all of sport's, but he was, and good for him.

Wow. I've literally been watching a few videos from this channel in a row and I had no idea they even uploaded a brand new video until now and I would have clicked on this first if I knew that this one was already out because of the subject matter and plus the awesome and just great overall quality from this channel in general. I just found out about this channel earlier today and it's already my favorite combat sports channel or channels because they also have a boxing one as well.

This is the best narration of Connors verbal breakdown of his opponents mentality. Jose Aldo was no doubt already mentally broken and defeated before he stepped into the octagon. Connor is an ultimate savage.

I remeber when i was in high school waiting for hes fights up to 3 am like a new year ! What a time to be alive man !

The man is a complete savage this fight and the Eddie fight were just masterpieces from the interviews to the fight nobody will ever be as big as that man was during that time. He has changed the game every body wants to talk and act like him now that is some legendary stuff to influence every body.

I'm brazillian and I realized that 99% of the times our country loses, specially this generation, is precisely because of weak mental. This happens everywhere: MMA, football, e-sports... We all do great against each other and win against "weak" opponents, but if there is too much hype, too much pressure, too much mental attacks, we lose. Just look at football, we literally had the best players in the world being forgotten because they all stopped playing at 30 years old while they could play easily until their 40s had their a stronger mental

I‘m also Brazilian and I also feel this. I don’t live in Brazil but I am Brazilian. Exams, I am much worse than I should Be because of stress, I can’t sleep the night before, etc. I am really weak in these situations. Let us fight our weaknesses, with all our Brazilian brothers 💪

@Davi Furtado I don't agree with the "weak mental" label you mention with Brazilians (I don't find many Brazilian fighters to fit that label at all, including Rickson Gracie, Vitor Belfort, Fabricio Werdum, Anderson Silva, Amanda Nunes). I think sometimes it might be a cultural thing, where people aren't raised to think/behave this way, the win at all costs/put your opponent down. Personally I do not care for this aspect of sport. There is an aspect of narcissism, sociopathy, or emotional shallowness/immaturity in some athletes, and often the fans forget this, like when Anderson Silva broke his leg when fighting Chris Weidman, I lost ALL respect at Chris Weidman's team reaction to Anderson Silva breaking his leg, in particular Matt Serra's reaction. I am sure plenty of people will rationalize Matt Serra's reaction (like it was just a 'heat of the moment reaction'), I don't subscribe to that mentality, perhaps it is because I have been seriously injured multiple times (including a serious leg injury where I was close to losing my leg when I was age 20). While I do like competition, I do not have the win at all costs mentality (living this way has it's own Dysfunction and even karmic justice comes back at you, when you live your life this way).

Jose Aldo is a legend but he was not a great fighter when it came to mental toughness, and that's a vulnerability that Conor is quite exceptional at exposing. With Khabib it was a different story, the guy had such a tough mind that when Conor tried the same trick with him it backfired and he ended up taking Conor's soul in the process

@@gi7685 I see your point, but Conor already lost twice coming into the UFC, and one of them was against a 135er who is now 15-17. In fact, Aldo had the edge with only one loss and he was undefeated for 10 years. Him not having faith in himself was his own issue. You can only get into someone's head in there is an entrance, in this case doubt.

I had nooo idea y'all covered MMA as well. Loving it!!! I remember all the events that led to this title fight. Holy shit, Conor was climbing the mountain at that time, and Jose had been undefeated. It was a hell of a build up.

The narration of this epic battle just made it all that more intense to watch again 👍 great voice over.

McGregor era was the golden age of mma. Sadly all great things come to and end, but it was a privilege to be able to witness it.

Conor from 2012-2015 was the closest anyone has come to prime Anderson Silva dominance. The way he was killing future champs and former champs. Mendes, Aldo, Holloway, poirer, Diaz, Alvarez, and before his loss to Conor, Marcus brimage was beating everyone he fought. Conor came in and melted everyone but Holloway at 145 and was beating him down before his ACL tear in the early rounds. He finished every fight at 145 by KO or TKO besides that. May be the best run of all time in one of the toughest divisions in the ufc. In 15 years nobody will talk about the crazy shit and the losses they will look at the two belts and the highlight reel. Nobody cares about Ali losing fights or mike Tyson. Gsp and Silva both got knocked out in the ufc but nobody talks about it. Maybe Conor makes a comeback but he should’ve retired after the Floyd fight IMO.

@@porkchopexpress6969 I’ve been watching the ufc for 15 years bro stop trying to make someone seem like a casual. Anderson Silva run was the only other run full of finishes besides the Damian fight in Abu Dhabi. Nobody really cares about mikes losses or Ali losses. Khabib didn’t stay in the ufc long enough and have a run like Jon Jones, DJ, gsp, or Anderson. I’m not sure why everybody D rides him like he’s the best fighter of all time when that’s clearly DJ.

It was a historical moment. One Conor will probably be remembered for the most.

The edit on this is phenomenal. I am not one to even notice this sort of thing but this really is amazing! Didnt miss a beat.

Truly inspirational, motivating, and exciting. Love the guy hate the guy gotta give him credit for what he’s done for himself and the company

I love this video, but cmon, Chad Mendes with full camp would still lose to McGregor. it's just an excuse, because McGregor had no ACL leading up to the Aldo fight at UFC 189 yet he would fight Aldo that time, and Mendes stepped in in 2 weeks notice yet Mendes made it as an excuse he had no training camp, like McGregor prepared for him for a long time too.

How can you possible know that. If the fight was one-sided, i might have agreed that Conor would still win a 2nd fight. But it wasnt one-sided. conor struggled in that fight. Chad Mendes had a shot at winning that fight. Please dont overly estimate Conor. Hes beatable because he tires in the 2nd round.

I don't overestimate Conor too, but McGregor at FW was a different animal. Conor never showed any fatigue on the Holloway fight that went 3rd round while wrestling Max Holloway as well and injured his ACL midfight.

I sure do miss that Conor Mcgregor. All the way up to the Eddie Alvarez fight Mcgregor was something special to behold.

He really was as big as Ali for a time. The casual fans or the newer fans ridicule him now, and I’ll admit he’s lost his touch… but most of those fans would not be fans if it weren’t for Conor. And I feel like the disrespect he gets when it comes to his importance to the sport is quite sad. As a fan who was introduced to the UFC very young, I can tell you it was an absolute pleasure getting to watch Conor rise to the top. There will never be another like him, just as there was never another Ali. Conor is the most important fighter in UFC history, and that will never change.

I'd say forest griffin and Stephan bonnar are the most important cause without that fight ufc would have been dead. Now Connor is definitely on another level when it comes to significant changes on how the ufc works. Most popular by far, highest paid and many other achievements. Just my opinion not really trying to debate cause what he did with the sport is just absolutely nuts.

Man that ending made me sad, seeing what Connor has become today. Such an amazing fighter to watch, but lost his drive after achieving everything he ever wanted. Becoming way too prideful and cocky.

Yeah man I remember watching his debut and since then I made it a mission to watch him fight every single time because I knew right then and there he’d change the face of the UFC forever. I knew it would be something the we would never see again so I knew there was no way I’d not want to witness that rise. It became a tradition of mine to buy his fights, have my friends over and say remember this guy he’s going to be the biggest fighter the UFC will ever see in a long long time

Man I use to have ufc fight parties like that to. I was more of a Anderson Silva, Nate and nick Diaz, time period. Anytime they fought I’d buy and sit back and say the same things. Pay attention these guy are beasts. I wanted so bad to like mcgreggor but I never get passed his mouth. Still liked his fights just wasn’t a fan. I was the bullied and quiet kid in elementary. I think that had a lot to do with it. Not liking the mouthy person.
