The Biggest Choke in Disc Golf

Спорт

Sometimes in Disc Golf you just cant win. That seems to be the case for Anthony Barela. At the 2023 European Open he was the leader going into the final stretch of holes, and he crumbled. One of The Biggest Chokes in Disc Golf.

    ellis choked horribly at MVP last year and is now a major champion. i believe AB finds redemption and becomes a multiple time winner on the tour. let’s go AB!!!

    Who can forget that picture of Ellis in the shack after the loss with his head in his hands. That was heartbreaking.

    I thought a lot about this situation. He had played exceptionally well all weekend. I honestly think he was extremely confident he was not going to keep missing. He is too good to not make that shot. But he actually kept missing. I know this is considered a huge choke and that can certainly be argued. I think he believed he was going to get on the green each time he threw the disc. It unfortunately did not work that way.. I felt bad for him. I think once he tweaks 1 or 2 things, he will be winning some major events. In the end how can you not be happy for Corey Ellis??

    that's just a winners mindset though. You HAVE to believe 100% every single time you make any shot that you are going to make it. AB did what any other top athlete would do, which is believe in his skill 100%. Mcbeth was on his bag that round and he would have done the EXACT same thing in AB's stead

    The Paul-Anthony caddy/player advice is difficult. They are not used to working with each other as a long time caddy is more likely to speak up, even confront his player to keep him focused and prepared. There is a clip of Kevin Na, a ball golf pro, audibly arguing with his caddy over an approach shot to the green. His caddy has been with him a long time and they know each other well, like Tin Cup.

    That's totally true. I once was playing a round with my main disc golf buddy. We step up to a hole with water along the entire right of the fairway, he pulls out a disc, I immediately knew he was going to throw it into the water. I asked what he was doing. He told me his intention. I told him that's a bad idea with that disc. He said it was gonna be alright. That disc went hard into the water. I didn't tell him I told you so. He knew. Having a caddy who knows your game is important, if you're going to trust them.

    But does Barela want anybody talking to him in that moment. He's probably angry and embarrassed and some guys dont appareciate advice when they are in that moment. Maybe McBeth could have done something, but maybe Barela didnt want anything.

    John E. McCray's meltdown at 2014 USDGC is biggest choke in Disc Golf history. Barela only had the lead by a shot - I believe McCray was up by 4 or 5 with a couple holes to go

    I have watched all of your videos. I don't think that this one needs to be made. Ab made bad shots. Hole is very difficult. Where is the choke? Cory Ellis made the shot and won. PB was more of a bag carrier than caddy.

    I chucked it by a squirrel I barely missed a deer Hear me shout fore as it's whizzing past your ear Went to rip a disc but the throw really stank Misstepped on the pad doing the hyzer shank. Shank it to the left. Shank it to the right. Never did flip now it's sailing out of sight.

    JohnE McCray's choke at the 2014 USDGC on 17 was far worse. All he had to do was layup short of the OB and then put it on the island. Instead he repeatedly threw it out of bounds.

  • @roryh2241
    @roryh224110 ай бұрын

    What everyone forgets is that this is all because of his poor tee shot. If he had thrown it better, he’d be more comfortable with the shot. It’s really a shame Paul didn’t get him to layup. He didn’t really need a birdie there!

    Why does this channel thrive on leading with negativity? Like, does this make disc golf more fun for people? Genuine question, because it seems out of step with our community in a lot of ways.

    True. Why do they even keep score? Competition only breeds negativity, since only one person can win, right? The pro tour is bad for the sport.
