All the comments about Darcy staying - Kane's point is that Jackson isn't really any good as a forward. His stats when playing there are rubbish, especially for someone being offered $1m a year. All of his best games have been when he played as the #1 ruck. So the question has to be asked; Are Freo recruiting a $1m a year C grade 3rd forward or are they recruiting the guy they see as their #1 ruck for the long term?

I like that Kane speaks his mind and doesn't just state the obvious, but sometimes he says some really stupid things. Why would Fremantle trade Sean Darcy?

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe he thinks Freo would use Jackson in a dual position but I’m pretty sure he’d be acquired as a full time forward and keep Darcy. I’d like to see them use Lloyd Meek up forward over the next few weeks.

@@thattassiewargamer highly unlikely. They would surely just rotate them both through ruck/forward. Why would you recruit a ruck as a full time forward? Why wouldn't you just recruit a forward?

@@thattassiewargamer I'm a freo supporter. The Dockers plan is to have both Sean and Luke in the side. Kane knows nothing about Fremantle. That way when any team has their second ruck playing onball one of Jackson or Darcy should have the advantage if Luke can get back to form.. Sean has shown a ton of promise playing forward when he's been given time there but that's only been for short periods in games. I'm pretty sure Luke has an issue with his soreness in his knees that isn't bad enough to stop him playing but has meant he isnt jumping as well as was early in the year.

What most people dont get is that freo are trying to keep all those players as best they can but we are trying to see what we can get for them instead of not getting anything if they leave.

lol what saying to sean darcy is going to have to be traded?? How 1 rucks the other plays forward, pretty straightforward i'd have thought, kane looking for another unpopular angle to take

Very true Fremantle for many years have lacked a good consistent key power full forward.

Darcy is one of our best set shot kickers and can mark well he can be in forward line and come up for Jackson if need be. But would rather have in ruck as much as possible unless jackson can dominate in there ad good as him.

Darcy isn't tough enough. Doesn't attack the packs or ball enough. He lopes around too much. That's my only criticism of him because I do rate him.

Agree with part of Kane's sentiment but also don't think Darcy has to go. A ruck division of Darcy and Jackson is elite. It's probably Meek that has to be traded not Darcy. The part i do agree with is that it still doesn't fix the forward line. Does Darcy play more down forward? He can mark and kicks a good set shot?

There is no ways Fremantle are trading Big Swags! They have spent too long developing him and he's committed to the club and coming good. Lobb wants out and Jackson wants in. Ruck/Fwd for Ruck/Fwd. Darcy not going anywhere. Also, Everyone is forgetting that Fremantle have Amiss on the inactive list. Had he not busted a kidney he'd have a few games under his belt by now. Sturt getting consistency at WAFL and maybe recruit another forward. Everyone jumping the gun on Fremantle, start of the year we would all have been happy to make the 8, had a good year and everyone expects them to win the flag. 2023/24 is the real push for Fremantle. Add Jackson and maybe Brayshaw and develop Amiss to be up forward with Tabs. Young, Chapman, Darcy, Brayshaw, Serong, Erasmus all another year under their belts. Future is purple. Settle down Kane, Darcy staying

@@andrewrogers5962 And what prayers have I said Jackson will answer? Lobb is a Fwd/Ruck and we'll swap him for Jackson who's a Fwd/Ruck... same same. Amiss and Tabs and maybe a older forward recruit will stabilize the forward line. And fremantle aren't really selling anything for Jackson, even if the million a year is true. Lobb is on 700k a year and hasn't delivered anything near that, Blakely is on 500k and can't get into the team, they'll both be gone next season, there's 1.2 million freed up. Logue needs a better offer but the other older players have been offered contracts on their worth which frees up space for the kids like Brayshaw, Serong, Darcy etc.

@@andrewrogers5962 don't think fremantle sees him as an answer to any prayers just a valuable player thats open to move. A mill a year isn't much in grand scheme with new salary caps coming due to new broadcast deals and not to forget that we got some senior players finishing soon aka fyfe mundy and so on. Lobb wants to leave Wether we want it or not so we are doing what we have to with what is available.

Jackson hasnt shown anything up forward. Lobb is the better forward its not a straight swap and one million dollars would cripple the future of team. Whats point of having draft picks and not using them. Amyss Sturt Meek Johnson Erasmus should be getting game time and develop. No balls to drop or even rotate vets like Walters Mundy Fyfe

@@andrewrogers5962 freo is like the unpopular kid afraid noone wants to stick with them, so a wiff of a WA player wants go back they jump on it and overpays cough mcarthy cough. Back your system in and build the culture. Eagles been able to retain Hurn Gaff and Shuey. Freo also with Pav Mundy. Next year give Brayshaw captaincy and make him a Docker for life. Do it

Melbourne did the right thing locking Brayshaw, Petrac, gawn and Oliver away that's our future.. Jackson isn't as good as gawn in the ruck, nor up forward, nor around the ground. his defensive work is average and his contested marking is just ok. Sure, he can jump, but so can NicNat. $1m a season is laughable for essentially a player who has played less than 2 full seasons as a backup to the All Australian ruck. Melbourne look so much better with Gawn full, or almost full, time ruckman. Our 2nd ruckman could be live a silvani - more of a utility player who is hard at it and takes 25% ruck time while Gawn rests forward. The loser in all this will be Fremantle with buyers regret
