The Big Gleaner A86 Combine

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Big Tractor Power is in the field with an AGCO Gleaner A86 combine. This video takes you out in the field and up in the cab to see and hear this 425 hp 350 bu. combine at work harvesting corn with a Challenger 12-20 corn head. This video also features AGCO history showing the Axial style combine developing from the WHITE Farm Equipment 9700 to Massey Ferguson combines to Gleaner.

Very informative. Well done. One tid bit: The MF combine shown @ 2:27 is of a newer vintage than the A series Gleaner. That MF combine has the current architecture with the engine sitting parallel to the rotor, which is driven thru belts, whereas the axial style combines of the Gleaner A series, and contemporary MF axial combines, were driven thru a hydraulic pump/motor system.

Another cool video.. Forgive my ignorance. But what was AC's reasoning for the duel pipes on the turbo-ed tractor? When all the other builders, at least the ones I know of, used a single pipe for turbocharged tractors unless they were V-8's. The link you left for the tractor takes me to 4 John Deere's planting. However, I found the 4W-305 video and see it has twin turbo's which answers my question. Love the old large AC iron.

According to gleaner man , gleaner transverse will way out cut a gleaner a series. I talked to a farmer in northeast Iowa that had 90 bushel green stem soybeans on a regular basis, he would travel 5.5 mph with the A86 n, 40 ft. draper, the transverse, s97 that he got to replace the A86, would do 3.5 mph with a 35 ft. head. Maybe the farmer should have done a demo with the S97 before he let the dealer sucker him into getting a transverse when he could have gotten a new Massey 9565. The new Massey"s don't thresh as well as the A series or the transverse , but maybe Gorden cylinder bars would fit the rotor since it was a copy of the rotor put into the Case Ih 7010-8010 and 9010. The Gorden bars make a big difference on Case IH rotors's in cutting down on un threshed grain getting past the short, poorly spaced bars.

The n series had their set backs at the start but got them sorted out out before deutz bought out allis. When deutz took over issues returned when thet tried to change the engines to air cooled and other parts. Camel Tanker the gleaner is different, it is only the A series. It is a Massey Ferguson combine. Agco was trying to make one universal combine. So they designed the A series combine. It is a Massey painted gray and says gleaner. The gleaner rotor runs side to side. Every other combines rotor runs Parallel to the feeder house. My family runs a gleaner and we compared it to the A series and it is basically the opposite of a normal gleaner combine. Thanks.
