    Eventually, you might want to get rubber seals for where the garage door meets the concrete floor. In addition to keeping heat in, they help to keep mice out.

    I'm Norwegian and grew up before the snowblower was invented and belief me....some winters were a nightmare. I remember some years we had to jump from the balcony to get out of the house and having to use skies to get to school. 😀

    I am Norwegian, too. One year we got so much fluffy snow that a young girl actually drowned in the snow. She jumped off the porch for fun, and did not manage to get out of the snow. Several people had to be helped out of the snow, they could not manage to get out by themselves.

    Hay there Trent, maybe this will help you next time you have to back something up in a snow storm. I am a retired long haul driver (had my CDL quite a few years) , and one of the first things I learned was what GOAL meant. It stands for Get Out And Look. In all situations, especially when visibility is questionable, you always get out and look first. It may even save you from an embarrassing situation. Love you guys, your family is great.

  • @RiverWoods111

    @RiverWoods111

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Riker-eq2yv There is a stark difference between complaining and just telling a story. I live in the direct landing approach of an air force base. I laugh about it all the time. I am not complaining because frankly I am hearing impaired and rarely notice the fighter jets skimming the roof of my house. I also don't notice the noise from the freeway that runs right next to my house. Yes, in the future, I will check proximity to this kind of stuff, and if I were to buy, I wouldn't want to be where I am now because of resell value. Just because I joke around about it, I am not complaining about it. I really don't care cause I don't notice the plains or the traffic noises all that much. Their job is to tell stories, and therefore they talk about the snow. If you listen to them, they don't really mind because they love living in that climate. It is just part of the story telling. If you don't like their stories, then why do you come to hear their stories? By the way, is there some reason you chose to b*tch about someone else's story telling on another person's comment? Rude a bit, don't you think? Also, you realize you come to their channel, but then you b*tch about how they tell their stories. That is more like moving next to an airport and b*tching about the noise. You didn't have to watch it? More importantly, if you must come and b*tch about how they tell their stories, which is fine, but don't do it on someone else's comment. It looks like you are trying to hijack their comment thread and take away from their comment about how cute Frank is.

    Hey Trent if you end up cutting a door into the basement concrete wall ,I use a concrete chainsaw , it allows you to cut horizontal right at the slab easier ,they are fantastic just buy a few of the diamond chains because they wear faster then a blade ,but it’s a huge time saver over a regular round bladed concrete saw , you won’t regret using it! You can plunge cut with it and cut right to all your inside corners no hand chipping to clean up the corners. I do basement foundation retrofit doors/windows all the time with it!

    As a Swede, I am puzzled as to why people in parts of North America with real winter seasons do not prepare for it properly. To me it is strange not to use dedicated studded snow tires during the winter or at least use snow chains when needed. Or are such actions not allowed in the US?

    The two things I always questioned about your build was no exterior door access to the basement, and the snow shedding off your house onto the deck and blocking your front door. Then you went and installed the man door on the garage on a side that the snow sheds on... not only inconvenient, but downright dangerous. NOT trying to be critical, I live in a high snowfall area too and just naturally think about these things :D Your place is beautiful and I've immensely enjoyed watching all of you plans come to fruition!

    I remember Frank doing flying frisbee catches in So. America. Now he is stuck in snow banks. Even growing up in N.H. and living in CA for 10 years, (and skiing at Tahoe), I never even came close to seeing so much snow as you have in your yard. Are you SURE you are having fun? Hugs to you 3 and 2 poochies. Leo is soooo precious. Hugs to him.

    Move to the mountains, they said. It will be beautiful, they said. It will be a great adventure, they said. Then the winter of '22-23 slapped ya in the face! LOL! It is beautiful and it's definitely been an adventure and it's only January. You two can totally do this! My concern is what's it going to be like come Spring when all of the snow melts. LOTS of mud will happen and possible flooding could be a thing.

    Ahhhhhh, the morning WINTER ritual of clearing our driveway!!!! It was fun for the first 20 years and then we go older and at 75, we sold our mountain home to a much younger 30+ who once again carried on with the WINTER tradition of snowblowing the winter driveway!!

    Yes, that much snow is such a lot of hard work. That said, oh, how I love all the drone videos as well as hand-held camera shots of the snow. As a child, that is the snow I dreamed of living in, and I thank you so much for sharing it with us. Also, I like seeing all the equipment that I've seen for coping with the snow, but I've never seen it in action as we do with you. Your pros and cons comments of what works well and what works better is extremely helpful. It's all marvelous, good or bad; it's all marvelous. Thank you!

    Oh gosh guys, what a ton of snow, and your sweet Nanny is really a great driver and so capable of so many things. I also laughed at Frank and Lika playing in the snow. That garage door from the outside is the bomb I really like that color it is so beautiful and so great that you can fit the truck inside the garage. I also think that once you get a roof over the deck it will really make your winters so much better because the snow won't pile all over it. And like you mentioned getting a metal roof over the garages will make the snow move off so much better. Good luck with all of the other things you will be doing in this crazy weather, always so good seeing Brandon. Have fun and take care, sending love and hugs. bye!! 😍👋👍💜💜💜💜💜

Maybe in the spring. Always something new to be done and you guys do a great job! You're definitely getting your cardio workout this winter! So much snow!! Have a good weekend. (from Sandi)
