It was kinda sad though bc it felt like her bad attitude sucked up a lot of his silly, fun nature. I feel like they paired them together bc they figured, Mickey is such a likable sweetheart, he’s like the antithesis to her caustic personality hopefully he will neutralize her, but it seems like it wasn’t without a cost 😕 (srsly thinking about what she would’ve been like on a team with anyone else, and no one else would’ve been as nice to her) I feel like he deserved a better experience than being basically the absorbent layer for a jerk I’ve never seen her in anything but a music video 25years ago, is this her thing? Is that why they called her ‘scary’ ? Ugh she was just like a wet blanket over the whole thing It was like a wet blanket someone turned into a Dutch oven

Mel was suffering from Acute Dypsomania.... she was bombed/ drunken/ pissed as a fart/ six sheets to the wind/ inebriate/ over the limit/ arseholed/ full of drink.... Alchohol! The woman was drunk. Now we don't usually see this from our Mel, so it's okay to let it go. She's a canny lass, and many of us have been bonkers due to the same. Who among us will cast the first stone..? Hmmm?? I like Mel B, she is raw, emotional and real. However, she was lucky that Micky kept his composure: it was with immense grace that he didn't twat her with an offfensive and quite honestly, forgivable verbal 😇

I think Mel B's problem isn't that she's passive and reactive - Warrick Davis was also pretty passive on his quiz, but nobody minded him. I think Mel's problem is that she doesn't know how to Yes-And or react to jokes in ways which don't cause the jokes to be shut down the moment they're passed to her. Acting aggressively in response to jokes as a bit works fine if done well, but Mel's responses feel too genuinely angry and don't leave a lot of room for responses or continuation of the jokes. She gives hard no-responses without any obvious openings, which makes the overall atmosphere feel far more hostile and serious than it should for a show like this. Nothing against her, I don't know her, but she simply wasn't a great cast for this show and it really shows.

1:32:11 is when I feel like everyone sort of gets out the weird energy that is all pent up from a night of trying their best to put on a fun show with a wet blanket, it was fun. There’s a lot of people saying it was a character, she was being acerbic on purpose, and I did see the _tiniest_ bit of that, but for the most part she put in very little effort to “play along” or be fun. You’re a performer, you’re supposed to be *fun* not abuse poor Micky all night. Geez Louise. I’ve also seen some comments saying she was hammered- that makes a lot of sense to me bc of how weirdly like, pushy and nit picky and mean she’s being to Micky every time he says anything, he ended up taking on the affect of an abused child. At least she looked absolutely fantastic though. This whole thing did have the “oh, mom’s drunk again” energy of like a rich family trying to get through dinner but mom is a mercurial matriarch out for blood

People's reactions to Mel B feel very telling. She is clearly just giving people shit as a bit and is getting the jokes and playing along, just like everyone else on the show. I'm not sure if people are thinking she "doesn't get the jokes" or "is being a bitch" because she was a Spice Girl or because she isn't a comedian, or, you know, other reasons, but it's really interesting. She isn't a comedian so not everything she says or does lands, but she is very funny generally and far from the train wreck people make her out to be on here.

I really don't understand why so many people don't think Mel B is funny in this. Some people are funny without making jokes. David Letterman made a career out of it.

Mel B was fine, she just presented as a non-character. Reactionary speech and mannerisms. Spice girls as a group would make all members support roles, or 1 side to the whole. Maybe her part isn't engaging, but more reactive?

She didn't yes-and any of the jokes thrown at her. Most basic rule of any improv scene - she kept shutting down jokes rather than passively rolling with them or reacting in ways meant to elevate the jokes. Her aggression is way too genuine feeling to work as a springboard for jokes - and it's only due to the talent of the other contestants that they were able to plow past her obstructions. Nothing against her, she just wasn't a great cast for the show, and sticks out to the point where people hate on her. Warrick Davis was also pretty quiet on his quiz, but he was able to either yes-and or just... not shut down jokes sent his way, which means people didn't mind his presence even if he was also pretty passive.

Somehow every year they seem to have someone who brings down the whole show. Not completely but at least like 30%. This time it's Millican

Then she should have stayed off TV and spared the audience from her bad choices, #1: She married the ass-hole. #2: She chooses to stay with him.
