    Since 2014 ive relied on Mobility Scheme run by the government, when i updated in 2019 i had to pay an upfront fee of £95 for my Kia Niro hybrid, in March i was due to upgrade, all Mobility cars r now Electric and if i want another Kia Niro the deposit was going to be £3k, i cant afford this and most Mobility users wouldnt be able to sit for hours waiting for ur car to charge up, but ur right in what ur saying just the deposit alone from £95 to £3k in 3 years no one on Mobility will be able to upgrade and will lose there cars

    It's a supply and demand thing. the demand is high for new cars and supply is low. There is a global shortage of chips because of the pandemic this is causing shortages in the car industry. And lots of people decided to put their annual holidays on hold for a couple of years because of the pandemic. This allowed them to have extra money and get that new car they have always wanted. The demand will drop and the prices will come down. You could apply for a grant from notability to pay your AP. After all without customers the scheme is finished.

    It’s time we showed them what we think. I encourage everyone to get involved with politics. Especially, local elections. Stop voting for the one party, three colour ones. Ask your friends too. Lab/Con/LibDems are the same party. They all follow the same masters. As Noam Chomsky said, they have vigorous debate on narrow subjects. But when it comes to the major issues like lockdowns or war; they vote the same. Especially, Labour and conservative. They hate us and want to rule us. In my opinion we have all checked out and been too apathetic. Let’s get local people, in local elected positions. Not those who tow the party line. As an example. Let’s look at Rishi Sunak. A Goldman smith banker. Handed a ultra safe Tory seat in 2016. Within a few years he’s chancellor, the second highest job. Then they oust Liz Truss after she beats him for the leadership and put him in without a vote from the public. If this doesn’t show how the system is rigged and the choice given to us and not a real choice. Nothing will. As for Starmer “Sir Keir Starmer”. That tells you everything about this establishment stooge. Head of the CPS and his skeletons are bigger than Rishi’s but they don’t get told in the media.

    I admit I was a early adopter of a Tesla. One day the area where I live was under a "POLAR VORTEX" and for over two weeks the temperature never got above -5° Fahrenheit during the day and night time temperatures got as low as minus 44° Fahrenheit. I charged at home because my workplace did not have charging available and the nearest public charger was over 45 miles away. An overnight charge was sufficient for me to complete my round trip to work as well as a few errands. One night I came home and plugged in and had approximately 30 miles of range left. My beloved German Shepherd began to show signs of gastric torsion later that night and required immediate veterinary attention. The local emergency vet stabilized her but she required emergency surgery which could only be done at UW Madison which was 138 miles away. My car only had approximately 200 miles of range and as the temperature had already dropped to - 35° I was going to have to make use of the heater and defroster. We made it to the emergency clinic but we're dangerously low on range. The clinic did have available charging and I was able to charge my car to 100% while my dog was undergoing surgery. She had to stay in intensive care for 2 days and during those two days I traded the Tesla for a Mercedes. No range anxiety and I can use the climate control to the fullest as long as there's fuel in the tank. I will never buy another EV as long as there is a drop of gas available on the planet...

I also know of a company in Openshaw Manchester who have developed a material that goes in the back box of cars and trucks that can remove 98% of harmful imissions from fosil fuels using recycled materials and certain materials/chemicals, said company applied for a government grant to extend their factory to meet demand but were refused (I wonder why) EVs are just the latest scam like the petrol bad diesel good diesel bad petrol or EV good scam.... Lower range in winter? Yes, I can confirm this is true! My BMW iX has dropped from 3.2 miles pwh in summer to 2.8 miles per kwh this week with frost mornings and 3 to 5 degrees C showing. My BMW X5 with a 3 litre diesel engine also does worse in winter though! I can get 40 mpg on a tank in summer, but in winter this reduces to 34mpg (I have been recording consumption for years… geeky I know). Conclusions: in winter ALL vehicles return poorer consumption! The moral of the story is: Buy the car that suits your usage patterns! If you do massive roadtrips on a regular basis, buy a diesel or if you want electric, make sure it is a tesla (for access to there chargers). If you are not driving like this and have a drive or ability to have a charger at home, an electric car is definitely superior. Stating electric cars are universally rubbish is a nonsense.

    you should have known that, because the smart phones have the same problem. Plus, I wonder if you notice with cold, the percentage of the batteries dropped like crazy. With cold, you can drop from 50 to zero in no time. Even combustion engine batteries always die in winter. Mine just died. On the top of that, those Teslas are full of electronics and those are quite bad in cold too. Plus if you drop to zero, everything is locked. Plus battery anxiety is real. I do have it with my phone. In Canada, with stupid plastic evs you can end up frozen solid on the side of the road. Tesla have electric brakes, if something goes wrong, you can not stop the car. If you park them in your house, they can burn your house down because they catch fire by themselves. I think tesla is not a car company it is a cult. Tesla makes less than 2 % of cars in the world and yet they are the richest car brand in the world, go figure. Electric Jesus musk is the king of BS and snake oil. In canada the best is a toyota pickup. How does tesla handle in the snow ? i would think evs are not great in the snow, too much torque.

    Batteries are not the future. The amount of power you lose in winter is probably around 20 percent of power loss in cold weather. Batteries need a stable temperature to be efficient and as soon as they are out of the that they suffer alot. After many years still we are cursed by the dreaded lack of power. Hybrid might be the way to go until they invent some type of fusion power cells. Flustration, Anxiety and Stress is the definition of EV Vehicles. Take Care Lee. Great Video as always

That’s the future if we allow this to happen. The common person will be on public transport, while the wealthy fly in private jets and drive expensive cars. I worry for the future of my grandchildren, as they won’t be able to see all over Europe, by car and motorbike, as I have. Travel broadens the mind. Perhaps the people in charge don’t want us to broaden our minds and see what’s happening in other countries. It’s control, control, control.

    All well said, Lee! The concept of an EV fascinates me (instant acceleration, quiet running, etc) but everything you’re saying seems to be true. And, I live in the Midwest USA where winter temperatures are typically-10 to -20 C. I can only imagine how crap the range on these things would be for at least 3 months of the year. Not to mention waiting around for a charge in the bitter cold. Forget it.

    it's your lack of imagination that's the problem EV engineers all over the world are working on the cold issue along with progressing range and other various issues new technology bring. Even better now than the past is that China is pouring billions into research which they never did with ICE. the biggest country in the world with the biggest budget in the world and the biggest brains in the world working on the whole EV project will get us to places we haven't even dreamed about I remember mobile phones coming out and assuming that's as good as it gets. Now look at what mobiles can do and there is more to come. why do people believe EVs are at their final development 🤔 Mainly because they cannot comprehend progress especially at such a fast pace . It's generally people over 50 who are struggling with the future 🤔 The world will move on without you 👍

    Thanks for the warning. I won't be buying an electric car ever. I'll just go to smaller and cheaper gas-powered cars until they stop selling gas. I am concerned for you, Mac. Battery powered cars drive their owners insane. Eh, mate? 25:45 LOL! "What exactly are you going to do to service the car?" "Uh...well...we are going to take 800 pounds out of your wallet and put it, very carefully, in our wallet, and hand you back your Porsche." What load of rubbish from Porsche there. 31:20 Tiny Tim needs new shoes for the winter. How could Porsche be so cruel! 40:02 Much respect MacMaster, no matter how sick my wife got, I made sure her license and her hairdressing license was renewed. It's just very important to those you love. 1:02:48 38 pounds 52 pence equal 47 dollars 20 cents in American money. Heating oil (diesel derivative) is in way more demand at the moment for obvious reasons, so diesel prices are staying high - 25p/l more where I live (yes, I drive a diesel). If you want to hear about profiteering though, my car also requires AdBlu, which is fine in principal. Two months ago, I bought 5l from my local garage for £14.99. I bought the same amount from the same garage last week - now £20.99. This is for basically 5l of water+pig urine. I couldn't tell you how p*ssed off I was!

    Completely agree. Its even worse if you want to tow a caravan. We recently travelled to Northern Scotland - about 350 miles - towing a twin axle caravan with my Volvo XC60 2.4 5 cylinder diesel. Got there on one tank. If I was towing - and I would need a smaller caravan - the journey would have taken far longer - probably couldn't do it in a day. Every time I need a charge I would need to park up, unhitch the caravan, drive to the charger, wait ages to charge, drive back to my caravan, hitch up then away. How long would all that add to my journey time doing that two or three times per journey?????? I appreciate if you have a small family where you can have a smaller caravan and loads of free time to travel you could do it with an EV. But not everyone has that luxury. I recently replaced my wife Toyota Aygo (12 years old, 80k on the clock and minimal repair cost though years of motoring) and looked at small EVs as she only does small journeys - max 100 miles per week. But the cost was prohibitive - so I got another Aygo.

They had two huge batteries, industrial quality, with an ability to be changed for the second or third shifts, if needed! At intervals a - nice Service Man came to change the inside of the batteries, which was - less expensive than changing - all the battery, as they had been worn down from the intensive use!!! Though it would suit my wife and I fine, as we have a fixed parking space, with a - possible charger by it, outside of our appartement, I will never buy an electric car, and today I own an AdBlue Peugeot 208HDI which runs up to 25 km/L on a full tank (5 minutes work and 1200 km range)! When I look at the two top selling cars here in Australia I can see that EVs are not a reasonable solution. The top selling car as of the fifth December 2022 is the Toyota Hilux and the number two is the Ford Ranger. With the huge distances we travel down here ould EVs be a good replacement for these vehicles? Obviously not. If you're going to tow a caravan or if you're a tradie with a tub load of materials and a dual axle trailer filled with tools etc. And on top of that if we are going on a trip to some small town way out of the urban areas then charging it up again, even if you make it, is an unlikely situation. For city travelling and grocery getting I can see the value of EVs but here in Australia with such long distances and plenty of wonderful places to visit it's a no go.

  • @raymondmajer8748

    @raymondmajer8748

    @Wooly Chewbakker I depends on how you drive/charge the vehicle. As far as I'm aware manufacturers guarantee the batteries for between 7 and 10 yrs depending on the manufacturer, however, that guarantee comes with caveats. When you buy a new EV the battery should charge to 100%, however, if after say 3 yrs your battery will only hold a 60% charge a dealer will recognize that you have not been following the advice to preserve the life of your battery. That is, don't charge to 100% unless you're going on a long journey and don't allow the battery to drop below 20%. In effect that drastically reduces your range by 40% to preserve the battery which will in effect nullify the guarantee if you don't do it. Your EV will then be virtually worthless. I'm sticking with my oil burner thanks.

    You set off with 245 miles range, and when you started charging you said there was 50 miles of charge remaining. This would suggest that you traveled 195 miles. For this comparison we are simply comparing how many miles you can drive for £1. You did 195 miles for £38, so you were doing approx 5 miles per £. My Diesel Mini does an average 65mpg. With diesel at £1.78 per liter a gallon costs £8. At 65mpg at a cost of £8 my Mini Diesel ICE does 8 miles per £, that is 37.5% more cost effective than your EV.
