Hello Mr. Rinaudo! I am a huge fan of you and your passion for the amazing machine that is the American fotoplayer! If by some chance you see this, I’d just like to tell you how much I’ve enjoyed watching these videos over the years that you’ve been kind enough to share with the world. Both the music and hearing you yourself give insights and quips here and there has brought me so much joy. I just wanted to thank you for being so passionate about the fotoplayer and the music of it’s day; without you I would have never even heard of the fotoplayer, let alone seen one in action (and oh man do you sure put that thing into action!). I hope you’re doing well and keeping the fotoplayer and it’s music alive, god bless you and thank you! :)

Parts of this tune (2:24-2:44) (3:04-3:24) (3:43-4:01) incorporate the "Storm" section of the "William Tell Overture". That section was used in many cartoons, including the first Technicolor Mickey Mouse cartoon "The Band Concert".

Gaylord Carter performed this piece during a July 1968 concert and silent film performance at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. He announced to the audience that the correct title of the piece was "Hurry #1" by John Stepan Zamecnik (1872-1953), a prolific American composer of music for silent films. More recently, however, others have questioned that identification. More research is certainly needed on the subject.

Wonderful! My husband and I -- former classical teachers and performers -- have wondered for years about this very music. Thank you Joe Rinaudo and Scott Lasky for giving it a name -- or for finding the name. I do hear elements of the storm music from the overture to William Tell in there.

Like literally having your very own theater organist at home! Amazing machine and amazing interactive work by yourself! So amazing to me! Especially as someone who was taking organ lessons until suddenly I ended up having issues with neuromuscular disease that make it too much for me to process playing and actually have my hands move the way they need to to play the notes. This is so cool!

I have a reproduction of a book originally from 1924 by Erno Rapee, titled "Motion Picture Moods For Pianists and Organists", I believe it was something the piano players could refer to that divided pieces by theme. There are a few under the heading 'Races', but I think this may be 'Allegro No. 1' by Adolf Minot. I may have looked this up before.
