The Big-ass Shed Series Episode 6 - The Floor

Ойын-сауық

Now that we had prepared the floor it was ready for a sealing coat.
Oz roller covers were kind enough to send us some coat applicating tools, rollers, brushes. This made our job just that little bit easier.
2/3 of the shed is workshop, on this side we used a two part polyethene sealer that we added a small amount of tinters too to achieve a grey concrete colour. We also added sand into the last coat so that it would be more non slip. This will be a durable surface that will be easier to keep clean then raw concrete.
On the last 1/3 of the floor we opted for a more fancy finish, this will be where my little estuary boat will be stored and we will have storage for fishing gear, and other hobby activities . The black coat is epoxy, the fleck is epoxy and the top coat is polyethene.
We wanted a bit of a wow impact on this side so we opted for the black under coat, the fleck is 70% black and 30% grey and we also put approx. 300g of holographic fleck into each bucket of poly fleck. 3 x buckets of fleck of to the coverage of that floor. 6 buckets were recommended 😲 but very unnecessary I think, 4 maybe.
We are super happy with the finish of the floor.

I like the sand colour of the first coat. The sparkling black is gorgeous 😍.

I did a similar job on my new garage and instantly regretted it. Everytime you drive a car on the lovely shiny black surface, there are long, dusty tracks from the tyres. If I could do it again, I would go just a high gloss grey, like the rest of your floor. Great video tho. Well done, thanks for the content.

We fell into that trap. Chose the most expensive builders. Got a deck built where they tried to take off half a metre on the length (caught them in time) and they made us wait nearly 8 months before they did our bathroom, where they stuffed up so many things, that we had to pay more for to get fixed. Eventually we were compensated but it was 3 years worth of so much stress!!

Lucky you only put one jar of fleck in there because just the view from the back door its the right amount anymore would've been too much I reckon. Very nice job!!!

That's a lot of expense for a big ass. It would be a lot cheaper just to put up a basic shelter for it and it would be happier.
