A Little Girl embarks on an innocent adventure, riding through a children’s wonderland of ice cream parlours and amusement parks. However, her journey is soon interrupted when her beloved bicycle disappears. Forced to choose between giving it up or giving chase, she sets off on a new and daring adventure - in determined pursuit of the Big Man who has taken it.
The Bicycle Thief was filmed along the Thames Estuary between Leigh-on-Sea and Southend-on-Sea in Essex, UK.
The script for the film was one of the winners of Directors UK’s Challenge ALEXA 2018. It's an affectionate modern homage to a cherished classic of world cinema and was made by a Production Team that was over 70% female.
The film was shot over 2 days in April 2018. Since premiering at the Mill Valley Film Festival in October 2018, as part of their Mind The Gap programme, it has been selected for 20 film festivals worldwide including Oscar, BAFTA and BIFA qualifying ones.

Hi Jorgelina, thank you for getting in touch and we hope you are enjoying working on our film. Unfortunately we can't really tell you what the main message is without giving away massive *SPOILERS*. However, I can say there is no wrong answer. If you ask yourself how you thought it was going to end, and why you thought that it will give you our answer. Also, we think your teacher should give you extra marks for having the initiative to contact the filmmakers to find out what they thought their message was. Nice work, Jorgelina.
I'm also here via Stephen, looove the film. I've shown it to everyone in the house. Since I'm in Australia can someone please tell me where it was filmed.

Hi Daphne, we're so glad you loooved the film and thanks for sharing the looove with everyone in the house! It was filmed along the Thames Estuary, about 33 miles outside of London, between Leigh-On-Sea and Southend. Fun fact: The beach where the Little Girl stops to throw stones is near The Crowstone, which marks where the City of London's jurisdiction over the River Thames ends.
