The Bibbulmun Track - Part Seventeen - Torbay to Albany

Part Seventeen - Torbay to Albany: The final stretch. Caroline crosses Torbay Inlet and savours the final stunning ocean views of the rugged coast. Mixed emotions arise seeing the mammoth wind turbines approaching Albany - symbolising the beginning of the end. Arriving at the Southern Terminus, Caroline reflects on the many memories, insights and connections with fellow hikers during this incredible 1002km, 2-month adventure.
We’d like to express a huge thanks to the 300+ volunteers who help maintain the track and campsites. Without them, there literally wouldn’t be a track.
Thank you also to the 100+ volunteers who help run the Bibbulmun Track foundation - providing up to date information on the website and social media, and giving advice to walkers. Some of them have been doing this for well over 15 years.
Sending gratitude to everyone who makes this incredible journey possible for all of us.
This series shows what it’s like to thru-hike the 1002 km (623 mile) Bibbulmun Track in Western Australia. Watch the entire series as we release them here: • The Bibbulmun Track Se...

This is the third rewatch I’ve done. It has become one of my comfort shows. I really am surprised none of the TV networks have picked this up, the production value and effort put in is amazing. I’m planning to start doing sections of the Bib as my fitness improves.

Until I became a long distance hiker I never thought I would be able to watch one video, never mind a series on the subject. I have watched plenty in my time now and I rate this series the best I have seen. Everyone involved clearly put a lot of effort into the series and it shows. The drama, tedium, elation, lows and highs, were all captured in a most natural way that articulate clearly what a long distance hike is really like. Special shout out to the cinematography, the editing, and my favourite, the music, which must have been selected with great care. I just loved everything about this series and just want to say thanks for giving me so much joy in my downtime as I prepare for the next big hike.

"On a hike, the days pass with the wind, the sun, the stars; movement is powered by a belly full of food and water, not a noxious tankful of fossil fuels. On a hike, you're less a job title and more a human being. A periodic hike not only stretches the limbs, but also reminds us: wow, there's a big old world out there". Happy adventures! Hubby & I were supposed to start our N2S E2E today 24/4/2021, and the only thing we put as a positive to this was that at least we would get to see the end episode! Quite a feat carrying all your hiking gear, plus the camera equipment. I picked up a lot of tips for the walk. It inspired me to do the first section from Kalamunda as a day hike with my wife and do some hikes with a backpack that hasn't been used for 25 years (felt great!!!) and plan our first overnight at Hewitt’s Hill soon.

Unless I am mistaken the BT finishes at the Information Centre up the hill in the main street, where you finished was the old site, moved about 8 years ago. ( unless it has been relocated again).

  • @GreatWalksoftheWorld

That's correct. The information centre used to be at the old finish, so after they moved it, they also ended up moving the end of the track. I think it happened a few months after we finished. It (the end of the track) was moved a lot less than 8 years ago. It was still the official end when we were there. The information centre had already been moved after my end-to-end in 2013 but the track end was still in the carpark.
