Adventures on the Bibbulmun Track

I spent 41 days walking solo along the Bibbulmun Track in WA. It was one of the best things I've ever done. Maybe you'll be inspired to do something similar.
(I filmed in portrait for the first couple of days before switching to landscape..!)

Very Much Enjoyed Your "Mental" Journey! Many walk the trail, but few "Feel" It! A BIG YES to solo hiking! And a BIGGER Yes to hutting by yourself! I get it! I see you! Loved your little "Half way" Montage! Laughed till I cried! But I do think that a "Dorky" emu can do a better hand stand than you :). Love your work Rubes...Harry Hiker!

Hi Ruby. I would never have known of you had I not watched ABC News. From there, I found you on KZread, for one. This trail you walked, I can relate very closely, although my experience was vastly different to yours. I was a Telstra technical specialist tasked with deploying a brand new 1+1 optical fibre system from Albany via Denmark, to Walpole. Spent months down there, mornings and evenings at Conspicuous Cliffs, and the beach, and amongst the amazing Tingle trees. Did the tree top walk. Pretty much halfway between Denmark and Walpole there was a place you could try/buy honey mead. Maybe not there anymore but I tried, and then did buy, a couple of bottles. I met a girl, she was staying at the same place as me. We ended up going on "dates" to Conspicuous Cliffs, in my Telstra car. However, she was from Hobart, and me from Perth at the time, so that didn't last. As you have said in your story, amazing scenes, most of which I would not have ever seen had I not been paid to go there. And then your story brings back to mind all the familiar places.... Thank you so much Ruby. x

Really great video. Being an Aussie I've often wondered what the track was like. Though my long distance walking tends to have been in Spain for the last 10 years. Maybe I'll have to try something closer to home!

Congrats on the walk and thanks for sharing such an amazing journey. Despite being a local and having had a few dozen Dugite and tiger encounters around my home I still haven’t shaken my snake phobia enough to try the southern section by myself. Instead I have been doing sections from Donnelly River back to Dwellingup along with around Mt Cooke, during the cooler months. So many beautiful spots and so true about forming memories and chapters around locations. Even my extremely short time on the track has so many vivid memories embedded that regularly bring me a smile when no one else around me knows what I’m thinking about and must think I’m super strange. Here’s hoping to make many, more. Ps. Also, a huge thanks for given me a huge energy boost after my first exhausting Covid infection. Never felt so flat before and haven’t been able to shake it. So cheers to the power of your infectious enthusiasm.

Thanks so much for taking the time to record your narration while out on the trail, as well as the superb scenery. I’m going to ride the Munda Biddi Trail later this year, so I’ve watched a few people’s MBT videos. Which is why the KZread algorithm served up your video to me. I found it moving, inspiring, and simply beautiful in how you presented the forests and ecosystems of south-west WA. So good. Thanks again.

I've done sections of track when I was a teenager in scouts, and watched a few end-to-end recounts of the other hikers, but I found myself very engaged with your journey, perspective and emotions. This video was masterful. I intended watching it in instalments due to the length, but once I started, I couldn't stop. Your warmth, your enthusiasm and your down to earth Aussie commentary, melded with the classic Aussie environments you were showcasing, made the whole thing compelling. My daughter recently did a 7 day hike in south-west Tassie. Watching this video was just like sitting with her over a glass of wine to hear the story and look at the images, both good, and when food was not delivered, not so good. If this video could not get enthusiastic audiences on mainstream media, I would be amazed. Thank you. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Ruby’s Solitude By Bing co-pilot AI, a supposed sonnet 🤔 In verdant woods where sun-kissed leaves entwine, Ruby, lone wanderer, seeks solace true. Her footsteps trace the ancient, mossy line, As whispers of the wild weave tales anew. The Bibbulmun’s embrace, a rugged dance, A thousand clicks of earth beneath her feet, She strides through eucalyptus-scented trance, Where solitude and self in quiet meet. Her laughter echoes through the gumwood glade, An oddly loud refrain, a joyful sound, For Bubble, her pot plant, lends her shade, And mindful musings bloom where roots are found. So here’s to Ruby, news and nature’s kin, A sonnet spun for her-both fierce and thin.
