    Hey, smoother intro. But this is not a Casey Niestadt video so your new editors need to go a little easier on cutting out every silence. This is a data rich conversation and just like you took breaths in order to continue speaking, the listener needs tiny pauses in order to mentally digest the information. Plus, it just sounds more natural and less choppy.

    My husband died 3/October, 2023. Dr please, I'm happy that you are speaking about male sexualities. My husband had a hernia the size of a cucumber, A prostate issue A bladder problem. Struggling to pee He went through hell n back I beg that young men be educated around their body and how vital it is for having yearly checks . Female s at a tender agee struggle with menstrual pain, pregnancy discomfort, birthing pain but we as females talk about it. Men don't, much to their demise. I think its necessary that men push their pride aside and listen to the message their bodies sends them. From a 74 yr old granny in Cape Town.

    The reason ejaculation lowers risk of prostate cancer is because we live unhealthy lives to begin with. Thus the prostate then benefits from a regular flush by ejaculation. There was a study done on the christian monks of mount Athos. These monks never ejaculate. And yet they were 5 times less likely to get prostate cancer than the general population. Its because these monks eat healthy, do physical work, sleep well and experience a strong sense of community.

    i really wanted to comment that Dr Rena is one of the most informative guests you've had to date. In having said that though it is important to note that you aren't scared or hesitant in anyway to ask the questions. I wish this podcast had been around about the time my son was 14 or 15 (or earlier). Even though we were always really frank about sex it was about girls, not so much about sexual health or the differences in the way men and women approach sex, how important a good sex life is for your health, work, wellbeing, and mental health. Great podcast, thank you.

    Since a few weeks I noticed that you started to ask questions based on what your others guests spoke about which is great. In this episode specifically you asked about porn and masturbation and their negative effects to a guest who is actually for those things. Thank you for really asking the questions we want to ask as viewers especially following what other experts, you have invited to the show, have spoke about. It still doesn't shed light on the actual absolute truth and I'm realizing that the goal at this point is to hear what the opposite argument is and ultimately it is about choosing what we want to believe for ourselves. Though I find that unfortunate because it opens the door for misinformation and confusion, all these talks proves to me that science is imperfect as experts keeps denying other experts on the same subject, but asking those questions the way you do, by being respectful, funny and friendly like when you commented to that guest: '' you don't look (or sound) convinced'' have made your interviews more interesting as it challenges with gentleness (I find) your guests. The only thing that keeps being repeatedly done at times is that sometimes some of your guests speak about something and then contradicts themselves and I find that it would be great to just bring that out quickly and ask why is it contradicting. For example in this episode your guests spoke about how true it is that the testosterone levels in males is decreasing every year and yet towards the end of the episode the penis length of younger generation is longer than the previous because they are exposed to testosterone earlier? What? isn't that contradicting? Being exposed to testosterone earlier means what? to be exposed to more testosterone? However the issue is that it is decreasing... I find that there is something to shed light upon here. It would have been great to ask your guest about how does these two studies can correlate or make sense or even perhaps which one is lying? The last thing I want to mention is that she is ok with pornography and masturbation and yet there are admitted concerns from her part about people being addicted to it, to be misinformed about our bodies and sexual knowledge because of it, as well as habituating the body and the brain about what turns on an individual (essentially young people and more realistically young males), and lastly she showed a clear concern about the actual fact that literally kids are exposed to that type of content very early in their lives which can then triggers the problems I just enumerated. It would have been interesting then to ask her about how can she still say that pornography is ok if the content can potentially bring so much problems and concern as everyone is different and nobody knows how they will react (she even herself admitted that everyone is different multiple times in the episode). It's like saying that it's ok to take a certain medication that can cause death to certain people when the reality is that not knowing how you personally will react to that certain medication, your best bet is not to take it especially if the alternative is health. Going back to pornography, the alternative to all the potential problems sounds to me, from the episode and other speakers in social media, are; healthy relationships, and healthy sexual responses and arousals. Though I understand why you need to have your discussions by being and sounding neutral with curiosity, it is when you challenges you guests that makes the questions interesting in my opinion and makes the show valuable in it's content because there is a search for truth. Anyways, very interesting episode. Kind of a bit odd to see a woman talking so well and in actual relatable details about how men's reproductive organ works. For someone who doesn't have the equipment, she really do know the literature about it.

    I’ve been seeing a Urologist since I was 18 due to a motorbike accident. As he was aging at that time he constantly dilated my urethra instead of installing a stint (which is now condemned) or by actually fixing the issue of scar tissue growing and closing the urethra. I went through catheter dilation for 18 years before getting a new Dr that installed the stint. Now the stint is taboo and the only Drs that will touch me are at OHSU in Portland, OR. It’s only a 6 hour drive so it’s not too bad, but no locals will even look at me. This was all said in order to say thank you for speaking up on any and or all of these issues. Most Urologist’s I’ve found only talk about things if there’s a serious medical issue. I’ve learned more from you than I have the local Drs in 38 years. Thanks again!!

    Masturbating by yourself also comes with its disadvantages and I think that those disadvantages definitely outweigh the benefit of reduced prostate cancer risk. Masturbating by yourself 21 times a month kills your drive to seek an actual partner and could possibly affect performance once you finally have a sexual interaction with an actual person in person. Masturbation is kind of like a surrogate for sexual interaction with an actual partner and it also messes up dopamine regulation in your body.

    Sure....as a woman, I would feel alarmed if my guy was masturbating that much like aren't I enough?!?!?! Plus, I would feel like he wouldn't give me a good time in bed just because he had it already. I feel like masturbating wasn't really a thing before and now it is especially because of porn being so available now (online). I wouldn't want my guy to consume porn ever first of all because usually violent sex is portrayed which has a ripple effect of macho culture. Plus I think it actually decreases a man's pleasure of actual sex with a partner. I'd want to be the only woman he sees and sleeps with. 😇

    I think like some addictions there's some who can feasibly have a "healthy" time using it but there's also people who need to abstain and not let it control their actions or thoughts. I'm in no way an advocate of it however. Some people can go out and have a couple drinks every weekend and others who can't even keep alcohol in their house for the rest of their lives.

  • @IxNoiRxI

    @IxNoiRxI

    @@WalterSobchak91 it's wrong to compare masturbation to alcohol, masturbation does not destroy your body, while alcohol does. In 99% of cases "porn addiction" develops only if you have an underlying psychological problem (depression, ocd, etc) and goes away as soon the main cause get treated. The only real problem is that men and women who often watch porn can have a bit less "drive" to search for a partner.

    The widespread belief that sex inherently benefits health, perpetuated by modern society, actually contributes to shortened lifespans, particularly among men. For men who do not practice semen retention, the repercussions are diverse and significant. They experience decreased sperm quality, leading to issues like low energy levels and testosterone. This deficiency affects sleep patterns and self-control, making it challenging to redirect energy towards more meaningful pursuits, consequently impacting confidence levels. Furthermore, their immune system suffer, as sperm contains vital minerals and vitamins acting as antioxidants to combat free radicals.
