ironmaster64 it’s worth mentioning that most characters that are already gay have the stigma of being the “token gay character”, who are only defined by their sexuality and not their character. Taking a pre established character and retroactively changing their sexuality is a smart way to send the message the their sexuality truly doesn’t matter. The way it was handled with Ice Man was trash tho. Bendis is so good with his books, it’s really jarring he did it that way.

Yo, Mendoza. I know I'm 2 years late and that this comment will probably get buried, and people are skeptical of everything on the internet, but at 7:19? The fan-film you used a clip from. That's me. I know everybody's all "fake news" nowadays, but I can completely assure you that's me in the Deadpool costume, and then me firing the guns in the shot after that. My friend who wrote, produced, directed, and acted in the thing was Deadpool's voice, and I was him during the stunts and action. You're correct in your idea that we were going for a comic-authentic/game-inspired sound for the Deadpool voice in our videos. It drove a lot of people nuts, and we defended it often in the comments, as there's numerous references in Deadpool comics about how his voice sounds as disfigured as his face looks, seeing as his body is constantly healing and destroying itself at the same time. I'm a fan of your channel in general and only just now found your content and have been enjoying it. I was pretty blown away, chilling at my apartment on Quarantine when I saw my late-teens/early 20's self in the old tighty reddies. We have a ton of other stories we made on our channel, glad to be apparently the third KZread video you ever watched. Really brought a smile to my face, keep doing what you're doing. PS-Ultimate Alliance was the shit, and my friend Mike (who again, was the brains of the operation) and I logged *hours* on that game when it came out and we were fresh out of high school.

Fun thing, Deadpool’s first video game appearance was actually X-Men Legends 2. He was an unlockable character after you beat the game and showed up briefly as a boss fight. He was voiced by the same guy who voices him in the Ultimate Alliance games. On that note, this voice actor would go to voice Monsoon in Metal Gear Rising.

This game was my introduction to the rest of the Marvel universe outside of Spider-man and X-men as well. Around the time I got this game my first PS2 stopped saving, so I just used cheats to unlock all the heroes and played the first few levels over and over, the Helicarrier music is burned into my memory.

this game had me on wikipedia for hours reading about all of marvel's characters and their connections to each other. nothing will top this. i think dc had something similar i really liked though called Justice League Heroes. If you ever get a chance check that out.

They actually had 4 exclusive characters for the PSP version. Black Widow, Hawkeye, Ronin, and Captain Marvel

This game introduced me to Carol Danvers and I somewhat liked her and I hoped like Iron Man, she and the rest of the characters I've never seen before would rise to fame, well in Carol's case she rose to infamy :(

Hell, her 70s comics had a subplot about her working at a feminist newspaper and her arguing with Jolly J. Jonah himself to get equal pay for the Daily Bugle's women employees. I'm seeing some confusion when it comes to the version differences, so I'll add what I know. Hulk is available in the DLC, you have to buy a Gold Edition disc to get it, you can transfer saves from standard to Gold if you got the wrong version, and I haven't tried it on PS4, but the XB1 release is *terrible* port

If someone hasn't already mentioned it: the designers wanted to put the Hulk in as a playable character but didn't have the licensing rights to do so at the time. And then they acquired those rights when publishing the DLC for the Xbox 360. Why it was exclusive to the XBox 360 (maybe an agreement with Microsoft, but then why not the PC version??), I honestly don't know.

Darn it Xavier, that ending monologue about how they don't make them like that anymore literally made me tear up and what got me into your channel, and it still does. 6:58 this was the second time Deadpool was voiced in games. He first appeared in X-Men Legends 2, voiced by John Kassir. John would then continue to be the voice of Deadpool in MUA 1 and 2.

I like Namor. He's one of Marvel's first characters.

My experience was the same as yours. This got me into Marvel and now I own thousands of their comics. I also read the characters with the voices from this game for a lot of characters (Wolverine, Deadpool, Thor specifically)

I remember Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Earth's mightiest heroes being my main introduction to the Marvel Universe

I grew up playing ultimate alliance on the PlayStation 2 and after watching this video I realized the similarity we have from within the game and it was strange how so many people didn't even know the marvel characters like they do now, I just gotta get the game for the ps4 do I can enjoy the experience again. I appreciate the time and work u do for these comics and video games, I enjoyed and would totally recommend the video, thanks bro.

Xavier, you have to stop with the Socially Inept Spider-Man stuff, I don’t want to die laughing.

When I got this game when I was maybe 9 years old, I separately knew characters like Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine, or Iron Man but never would’ve realized that they would be in a mutual existence in a universe and could team together. It blew my mind and I loved getting to know the marvel universe through this game

Everything you said from 15:04 and then on I agreed with 100%. I was just actually explaining to my dad how marvel simply hasn’t been the same for the past few years, and how MUA taught me a lot and gave me my perspective of the marvel universe. Good Review, underrated game. Hopefully the next installment in the next year will do justice the the good old days of marvel.

This actually made me sad... it's such a wonderful game and i feel the same way. It introduced me too, and made me learn to enjoy this awesome world.

This is one of the greatest reviews I've ever seen. This is a true love letter to this game.

because they are "trying" to make their existing characters more likable and relatable for a modern, more liberal audience. the down side is if you don't associate with any minorities or the LGBT community it will be harder for you to identify with the character changes. and if you are a minority or gay, there's a risk your group will be misinterpreted or put under bad light representing it properly. They shouldn't change a straight character to be gay. but if they do they shouldn't matter or effect everything the character stands for.

Been looking into this series and this video has definitely convinced me to get this on my PS4 and try the others!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance is taking place in Universe 6109. It has history similar to 616, but some characters look like their Ultimate counterparts.

Ahh man, I remember MUA. Came out on my old mans birthday and we beat it on the good old ps2 together. Then last month on my birthday as a tribute I bought it for ps3, 11 years later, and beat it all on my own. It was touching seeing as my dad had passed away a few years back and he's the reason I love comic shit so much. Really special game to me, always love hearing you talk about all my favorite childhood games. Thanks boi.

Ultimate alliance is technically it's own universe. It has its own designated number

1. You should definitely do mua2. I wanna know your take on the whole civil war/nanite transition. 2. You made me almost cry at the end, I miss old marvel and I wanna buy this game for PS4.

I remember when I first saw the Human Torch and I when I went over fire with him. He didn't take any damage and for me at that time, I was blown away

It'd be quite interesting to see a story driven, connected universe of marvel or dc games where they make story driven solo action based games with all the team up games being ultimate alliance style. Although it would never halogen it'd be interesting because there would be no limits on what they could do

You want real replay ability? Well, the game's community isn't dead just yet. Go to marvelmods.com They have special custom characters with new powers and effects and costumes for this game. Over 250 new characters like dazzler, sabertooth, magick, enchantress even DC characters like the flash, green arrow, batman and the joker. It's amazing. This game was my childhood and I still play it to this day. The game takes up upwards of 25gb on my PC. I hope you'll have fun too. The mods are For the original 2006 game not the new remastered ones. Find a torrent for the old games. That are more functional.

Moangus PIckard I know I'm late but, you'll need a program called xmlbcui. You can find it easily on Google. The game has multiple small mods of various characters but a few come fully bundled (like the official characters 3.0 mod which adds the psp characters and colossus and moon Knight by default). Once you have xmlbcui, go into your data folder where you have the game installed and find herostat.xmlb. Using xmlbcui, decode it and then find the hero you want to replace. REMEMBER TO CHEKC THEIR MENU LOCATION NUMBER. Then select their entire entry and delete it. Replace it with your new hero's herostat (that you get with the mod) and then just add the menu location number and recode the file using xmlbcui. Just remember to recode it as xmlb and not something else. And you have a modded character.

This was my favorite game when I was real young; it introduced me to marvel and caused me to love marvel for years to come

I love how this channel is amazing for learning deeper comic book lore for stuff like Marvel, haven't really enjoyed it as much as I used to with how political it's become, after finishing Endgame, I didn't wanna watch anything else... It's very clear how different it became over time, but I may prefer the original renditions of Spider-Man before the MCU bs, and I'm also still an unapologetic fan of the original Sam Raimi films. I also might finally find a way to get and play this game myself on PS4, just will need the extra money, and it's not something I really feel the need to play asap.
