With the reveal of Cindy Moon at the End of 2 makes me really hope that 3 deals with the inheritors.
The rule of T'Challa not being allowed to be in ANYTHING Marvel related because of an actor's passing has to be the STUPIDEST, most ASININE thing I've ever heard!! Who was the moron who thought of this rule?!
19:35 I’d love an animated transformers show taking inspiration from the IDW and new Skybound comics with Invincible/90s transformers movie animation vibes. It could even be PG13 cuz the sci fi rule of “gore is fine if it’s a robot”. Either have a wide cast or change perspectives and show off the expansive, mystical, and political world of transformers.
I think Spider-man Unlimited fits. We see High Evolutionary fly off in X-Men so could have then ended up on Counter Earth. Made himself a new costume etc.
"it's for kids" argument isn't an argument that it's for kids... it's actually for parents of kids who don't see their kids as people, but an innocent juvenile extension of themselves... the part of nostalgia they want to hold onto and exist forever as some imortal eternally 3yr old object that bears resemblance to them. ultimate spiderman was for a more mature audience than most, curtailed because the parents would call and bitch about something that dared threaten their subjective view of what would challenge the description I gave above... this isn't new, and marvel and spectacular played heavily into that. sure am glad xmen 97 said "fuck it! the fans of the old show are grown up, they can handle the blood and sex!" (and now kids everywhere love it)
I hope they bring back Robert Hayes to voice Iron Man and Keith David to voice Black Panther.
They never explain how Bishop ended up in 1997 and taking refuge with the X-Men then when he leaves none of the other seem to care or even say goodbye. Hopefully it will be explored in season 2
MSM.. the flat boring pallet of spectacular, the no over reaching arch of '95... ultimate was the best spiderman so far, it was like the sunday comics version... plots took longer to resolve, there was character growth... in these animated versions.... not so much.

The MTV one is easily the third best, it deserves to be up there on the leaderboards with Spectacular and TAS
An absolute phenomenal achievement that maintained the spirit of classic x-men and old school non mcu marvel, and i couldn't have been happier with it!
The funny thing is Both Kirkman and Ennis worked on Marvel (and probably dc as well) comics, but invincible, like you said celebrates superheroes, and the boys is just Garth Ennis' characters beating the shit out of superheroes and those same superheroes being constantly horny.

I think you pointing out that they condensed Inferno while keeping its point & made Cable’s backstory to follow and emotionally engaging proves that talented enough writers can make pretty any idea work.

I REALLY hate how Marvel showing "respect" to Boseman's memory is just an excuse not to use T'Challa in NOTHING even remotely involved with MCU.
I hated spectacular spider man's art, lack of story archs and it was clearly for little kids with no attention span that couldn't stand characters to evolve. but I LOVED ultimate spiderman, it was for a more mature audience who wanted to see a version of spiderman actually grow and learn.
I grew up with the x-men cartoon (I'm a 35yo man) and each episode brought me back to what I felt watching that series. I don't watch much TV these days, as it's hard for me to find things I can sit through with my severe ADD, but MY GOD! I can't remember the last time I've been as hyped as I was for each new episode. I still get goosebumps thinking of the "remember it" scene. This has taken the spot as my favorite X-Men story. Wolverine has always been my favorite character, but this show managed to make me fall in love with every single character on screen. God I love this.
Something I think you didn’t quite properly explain: the animation in ‘97 isn’t strictly 3D models with shaders, it’s more like rotoscoping where the base animation was done in 3D and then drawn over with digital ink and paint.
Maybe it has something to do with contracts that the actors have to appear for the character they are signed to playing ??
7:45 I’m sorry, but X-men 97 isn’t a 3D animated series nor cel shaded 3D. It’s just a normal 2D animated show, the show mainly uses 3D for backgrounds. The first three episodes had scenes of rotoscoped/traced 3D animation, which is a method used for other action cartoons/anime, but after that the series was completely traditionally animated. Jeremy Polger, an animation Supervisor for the series stated this on Twitter. The animation studio behind the series is Studio Mir, a studio that is famously known for doing only 2D animated series like The Legend of Korra. They have never handled a completely 3D animated series.

... couldn't agree more on your comment regarding the redemption thing. It confuses and appals me how people nowadays seem to see any form of forgiveness or attempt to redeem people as "villains getting away scott-free with their crimes" or "villains who haven't earned their redemption".

19:45 I've said for years that Game of Thrones would be amazing as an animated series, in the style of Invincible. There is actually a graphic novel version for the three "Dunk and Egg" novellas (the HBO show about them, called "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" starts shooting this summer) and they're fucking fantastic. I'd love to see them put to actual animation, because even with HBO's budget, they can never really afford the set-pieces and big shit that we get in the books. But with animation, the sky's the limit.

My only and biggest problem with the show is when you saw MCU things bleed into the show… example being Dr Strange and Forge’s magic looking like the annoying sparks from the MCU. Other than that this show is such a breath of fresh air with superhero media in general
Also the Dora Milaje looking like the MCU ones instead of the 90s comics ones being younger girls (as they were basically kinda a harem) with full hair

Captain America wasn't really a jerk, he was 100% on their side but just wanted to play by the book when the X- men weren't really having it. It does not at all strike me like a poor interpretation of his character.

Hope future seasons are a bit grounded like the old 92' show where you had just standalone stories. And if we don't get to see Daredevil in Secret Wars or Kang Dynasty, that'll be a crime
Its really great how this show manage to utterly defy expectations and deliver a refreshingly great and almost unanimously liked product. The fact that Comic book grifters outright had to turn tail and stop talking about the show or start singing its praises too after formerly slamming it really just goes to show that this show is amazing.

About the cameos section: Iron Man: He does have multiple armours/suits. He can also make changes to existing armours/suits that he has. Black Panther: You do know about the heart shaped herb right? In this universe, the heart shaped herbs were not burned down by Kilmonger (he did it in Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther MCU movie). It is the 90's and it was a very comic-book-y time so maybe T'Challa wanted to bring his Dad back. Also, in that clip, maybe Klaw shot one of the Wakandans instead and told T'Chaka that he would keep shooting if T'Chaka did not leave Wakanda. Maybe there are multiple T'Chaka's. Maybe he is a clone. Genosha: Yes. The human Genosha can be different to Mutant Gensoha. Still a great video overall. Good work.
I used to have to go to Ao3 for this level of an interconnected universe that is just casually allowed to crossover with each other. This feels unreal.
