No idea which ones they're going to include, but I think they said they're adding three. If that's the case, I'd love to see Indy, Michigan and maybe Phoenix if they can fit it in on top of adding the Daytona oval.

I never realized that that livery essentially launched Marlboro as a brand, makes you realize why Motorsport always attracted the tobacco companies

I had the pleasure of living next to this track for some years. I didn't grow up in the racing culture but always had a fond respect for it. After experiencing my first Grand Prix, watching them lay the barriers for weeks and hearing those engines for hours and hours in April, I became hooked. Even driving on it gave you the feel. If you are in Long Beach in March or April, head to the Pike to experience for yourself.

I swear, you're the only simracing KZreadr whose races I watch start to finish. Not only do you race hard, but you have so many things to tell us as running commentary. It's really entertaining to watch. AMS2 and IndyCar is a match made in heaven; I hope we'll get a modern-day Dallara too someday.

1995. My favourite IndyCar Series of all time. Apart from the 1997 CART World Series.

As soon as this came out I was like damn I wish they had the old LB layout!

LBGP! Where it all started for me, way back in 1987! Great to see the old school Champ cars!

This video makes me wish I had the money to invest in the hardware needed to really deep-dive into doing these kinds of sim races. Also, in 1995 that second Green Menard's car would've been driven by Scott Brayton, who qualified on the pole for the Indy 500 that year.

Thankfully AMS2 runs very well on lower end hardware unlike say ACC...But the prices of GPU's went so over the roof but thankfully they are back down now...

It's kinda funny, earlier was watching the IMSA qualifying replay video on the IMSA youtube channel and it occurred to me that someone could lose control and easily drive up into the flowers and fountain. I don't know why I never thought of that before in all of the times I've watched racing there. So I left a comment about that and IMSA replied that it had just happened in race 1 of the Porsche Carrera Cup race. One car got up into the flowers, there is a tire wall right in front of the fountain though.

It happened again during the Indycar race this year, Pagenou tried to pass on the fountain and ended up clipping so hard into the garden he got spun completely around and stuck in it.😂

Im simply in LOVE with this mod in AMS 2....man, I cant stop playing it, in the past 6 days I have done lots of Long Beach races with Gen 1, 2 and 3...always improving car setups, managing tyre wear. Damn....Reiza did a SUPERB job with it. For so long I didnt feel so happy with a car than with this one. My happiness could be compared to the good old ICR2 times when it came out

The turbo noises alone are a massive nostalgia trip…takes me back to sitting in the rickety wooden bleachers at the Meadowlands street circuit as a kid

Great stuff as always, Jake! Love your historical approach and how you build it up. Having damage on at Long Beach is the right way to go. Only thus proper respect for the track and genuine fear of the walls are induced. Regarding your issues with the AI not pitting correctly, I have found that it mainly depends on the settings. Putting just "Mandatory Pitstop" on normally doesn't work but instead leads to the AI pitting on the penultimate lap or not at all nonsense. However, putting "mandatory" off and instead setting "Tyre Wear" and "Fuel Consumption" to the correct relative values matching your racing distance, e.g. 3x for a third of the real distance, leads to very good results. I am doing this with my 50 % 2000 CART Custom Championship, and so far, it's been great, the AI uses different pit stop strategies and comes in at reasonable times.

do you know if that was updated recently? Ill do some more testing but a few weeks ago I was trying some hour long races with the dpi at Daytona and they pit 3 times when it was really only necessary to pit once

@@GPLaps afaik there have not been any updates on the AI pitstop logic recently. It's weird, different people having different issues with it. Maybe it depends on the car/class/track combo, i.e missing data in the code? Only a guess.

Fuel-wise, about 1 1/3 tanks of fuel always works well for me in terms of AI pit strategies, which yields about 45-50 minutes for these cars. Longer than that, weird things start happening.

@@GPLaps What I have found is that the issue is not related to the AI but actually the cars. The DPI for example can only hold 76L worth of fuel and are pretty fuel inefficient where as the GT3 or GTE can hold 100-130L. So depending on how high you have the fuel usage set, and the circuit, the DPI may have to pit every 4-5 laps just for fuel.

This is probably one of the best combos in AMS2 together with bathtubs of death on historic spa :D

It depicts that era of great racing so well.

It's a tough call, but I think I might just barely prefer the 1999 layout over the 1975-81 configuration, but it's pretty darn close, and they're both very good. I also do like the simplicity and speed of the 1992-98 layout; it's a bit like Vancouver 1993-97 in that respect.

Your comments and the way you montage the videos makes me get on the edge of the seat every time. You definitely would do really well as a real life IndyCar commentator and I’m not kidding about this. This is the ultimate combination to learn the best car control. 900 bhp without any electronic assists on a bumpy track. Really satisfying when you get it right 😍 Last few months some new people have been working dedicated on the tire -and physics model. Some ongoing issues have been ironed out and you can really feel the difference. All cars will be revisited by these guys. It just got so much better, I love it 9:37 this going to the left is a thing with the Al in AMS2. They start to notice you once you get along side them completely, they should make room for you get the front wing alongside their rear wing. It’s like they don’t look in the mirrors, they should notice us way sooner. ACC does that really good.

I hope we get that Formula 1 layout. like they are doing with Spa and Nurb (watkins historic would be awesome too) Love these cars. Was running this combo earlier today in VR, it's insane!

They are doing a historical layout DLC and I think it will bring classic layouts to other tracks other than the premium tracks

Your passion for classic motorsports comes across in all your videos and it make your content so much more engaging for me. I was watching some Goodwood races live yesterday and I was trying to think which sim racing personality would have an interest in owning & racing a classic racing car if they could afford it. Then I spotted this video. Not sure if you could afford it (I certainly can't right now) but I reckon you would love it.

I like AMS2's version of Long Beach. I've run all of the Indycar generations and a mix of GT3/GT4 at the track and its always fun. If you do a 1 or 2 hour race with time progression turned on and also throw in some rain it makes for a brilliant race.

The sense of speed in AMS2 is tremendous and this video has convinced me to buy an ultra wide monitor!

Recurring theme on all your AMS 2 videos are all the things you would like to have added or changed. This leaves me with the impression of "quite immersive to drive in the moment, but don't look for too much beyond that".

Yeah AMS2 looks pretty and is great for doing short 20 minute random races, but there is not enough depth yet for it to handle full length races or full championship seasons.

Sim racing/gaming will change for you. It’s whole other world. The amount of stuff, aside from the sim racing if you like fighter jets with DCS, or millsim with Arma and Squad with all the mods is endless. Plus the amount of peripherals for sim racing and flight sims. It’s endless and almost unlimited. VR, triple screens, motion, transducers, wind simulators, hydraulic pedals. Upgrade path too. PC hardware is coming down in price. It might be time my friend.

Same here with a PC and love ACC but AMS2 is right up there and has only gotten better especially as it has so many other classes of cars and tracks...Massive improvement on driving dynamics and the real time weather/day and night cycles is just immense.

Loved Indycar 2 when I was younger, wish someone would do a remake just as it was with updated tech! Great video thanks from a new sub

I want those skins:) I get pumped for upcoming races the same way! Long beach I consider my home track, and a tradition for my family, my dad took me to my first in 1999, and my kids just got to experience it for the first time this year. Planting the seeds! Maybe see some laps from Imola soon I hope;)

Despite this track having one of the worst corners in all of motorsport, I till love driving this track in sims.

You should have a go at the 1979 version in rFactor 1, you can get an updated version of the GPC79 F1 mod and trackpack on racedepartment now, It's a blast!

As a brit, I got into champ cars when Nigel Mansell went over for the 93 season battling against the likes of Lyundyk, Fittipaldi, Rahal, Tracy and Andretti!!! and just fell in love!

8:00 about this, i think one of the things that changed between 95 and 98(2000) was the tire war between Goodyear and Firestone that forced Goodyear to make better tires, which still (as general feel of the time) weren't as good as the mighty Firestones, so it's not only aero the 95 machines would have "lazy" tires.

Recently picked up a 34 inch 144hz ultrawide and it has changed everything!

Man, how do i love this... I also have spent so much hours with ICR2... Now I ´d like to ask for some technical advise: how is your settings for the steering angle? I think the last hairpin needs some higher value, doesn´t it?

Dude you need to get Phoenix Firebird raceway (called Wild Horse Pass nowadays), get the PC 21 and use the same setup Senna used on his test in 93. The setup sheet is on the internet. Try to match his time. It’s the holy grail for Indy sim racing.

I think the worst thing about AI in racing games now is that the AI never make mistakes and never have crashes. Been playing a lot of NR2003 and the AI have wrecks on their own or make mistakes and it doesn’t bring the true life experience in newer games

Oval racing will absolutely need decent AI pit strategy implemented. Sadly that is the reason I hardly play this sim. I enjoy doing long races. It changes how I drive.

Are there any sims where you can just do a full season of either cart or f1? I miss Grand Prix 4 and don’t like the arcade style of the F1 games.

Now we just need to add marbles.

Hi Jake I suggest you look at Timo Dick's channel. He is running a short Cart 2000 championship at the moment and he seems to have the AI pitting ok on 40 or 50 lap races,

My favorite CART' season ! Beautiful paint schemes, chassis and Tracks. Before this stupid (I'm polite) Tony George destroyed everything. 🙄

My only criticism of these cars is the shifting sound effects. I just don’t understand why they need to make that made up sound so loud. I’ve watched a lot of in car footage and I’ve never heard “clap…clap…clap…clap” every time they shift a gear. With headphones on it’s so loud and distracting. Ha, it drives me crazy for some reason. All we need is a change in engine tone. How cool would an I game EQ if some kind be that would allow us to tweak each sound effect separately. Or at least volume.

Went to watch April 10, 2022 Long Beach Grand Prix. It's a great local event for me. I never liked the design of today's Indy cars. They just look odd to me.

LMAO@ 6:10 "Coming up on the inside of Paul Tracy". Really? That would be a trick since he drove the #27 Player's Ltd. car which was nowhere near you when you said you passed him. In fact, he was WAAAAY ahead of where you were.

This game looks so arcade 😂and in 1995 the track had a different layout. But as long as it's fun enjoy it 😄👍

Compared to the Spec 2 and 3... I'm not a big fan of the GEN 1 Cart cars... They are so much less stable and twitchy

Yeah, that's a problem with Automobalista 2. There is no 1995 layout and no way to mod one in.

As the track was released last year as a 2021 version of the track is not wrong and it is a very good representation of the 2021 layout.
