Haha. Fact!!
was personally curious so I had a look, Potatoes are roughly 79% water. Also, as always, you, Jim, no matter what you're doing, nothing gets tossed except rubbish. Use everything like the left over ling carcass for crab pots, scrap vegies for compost, always great to see and teach. A great job to the sous chef, James. Of course he knows a grand sea shanty "Ohhh who lives in a pineapple under the sea?" Thanks to you, James, Jim, Hannah, Carole (when she appears, sorry if I spelled any names wrong) For sharing a little of your lives and love. Cheers to ya John.

Thank you for the clarification
Raw potatoes contain 79% water. As one would expect, the water content of boiled potatoes is similar to raw potatoes at 77%. Cooking in a dry environment reduces moisture content but not always as much as one would expect. For example, the water content of baked potatoes is 75% and that of microwaved potatoes is 72% For all the people who were guessing the water percentage in potatoes 🤣🤣. Love all your video content John with the entire family, makes me want to get a boat again myself and get back into boat fishing, like i did when i was a youngen with my dad. Had some wonderful memories of doing that with my dad and one day when im a father id love to make memories with my kids like i did with my dad. Tight lines my friend!!!

Sounds like happy times Jack. 👍🏻
This is for Jim, from another amateur gardener and occasional home cook: to make dense home grown potatoes fluffy enough to mash easily, boil them unpeeled in lightly salted water until their skin starts to split spontaneously in the pot, than peel them hot (using a coarse rag or thick gloves) and lay them on a grill or a mesh pizza tray to cool down and evaporate excess water, cutting the bigger ones in half to speed up the process.

Just another fantastic and much laborious meal by Jim. I felt like being invited for lunch in a typical British family. Seeing Jim walking around in the kitchen on socks was so natural yet funny. As you mentioned at the end, we missed Hanna in this episode. BTW. I like the way your wrapped ling's rack and head. You can throw it in the oven with any kind of vegetables (first vegetables for 20 mins) and later the fish for another 20 mins on olive oil. Just as simple. Thanks John.

Hi John , How you doing ? Always love the cooking parts, especially when its one of my favourite dishes, and it was great to see how to break down a Ling. Watching your young one there made me laugh, when trying something at the table, when I was at his age , you had to eat it all even if you didn't like it lol, it wasn't to bad for me as the only things I didn't like where Brussel sprouts, Marmite, and rice pudding or as I called it frog spawn with milk , YUK LOL. My middle brother on the other hand was a fussy bugger lol and always in trouble at the dinner table, as my dad had the old fashioned view, that you do not leave the table until your plate was clean. We did get our own back on my dad when I was about 12, he had taken the left over chicken and the carcass, broke it up and chucked a load of veg in the pan, got it to boil and left it on a slow simmer and yes it smelled fantastic, every now again he would go to check on it, 5pm comes around and he shouts DINNER, we all sat at the table waiting be served, and we are all hungry my dad looked proud as punch at what he has achieved ,its served out and we have some nice crusty bread to go with the broth, my mum and my two younger brothers swallowed down some broth and there eye's start to widen lol and I am tucking in it and looking at my dads face as he goes for the second and then the third spoon full of broth an he starts to go bright red and then starts to sweat a lot then his mouth starts opening and shutting like a gold fish. then my mother pipes up Frank what the bloody hell have you put in this broth ? lol and he said I added some dry chilly flakes to it but I could taste to much so I added some more, my mother said how much more and he said 2 spoon full, my mother, what tea spoons, and then went on to say that is way to much, my dad then said oops and started laughing , mom said what you laughing at ? as she went to make something else and he said still laughing not tea spoons they where table spoons and she just looked at him with a open mouth, then we all started laughing, but then he stated to get up with a full plate in is hand and as I was still eating, I said, you have not finished your meal and as I smiled at him while I was still eating then my mother chimed in support then my two brothers, yes you have to eaten it all up before leaving the table, I'll give his due he gave it a good go lol, I had seconds that day, yes it was damned hot but I quite liked it, but he never did the you stay at the table speech again lol. What rationing did to my folks lol .
