As a Northgym vest owner, I can say the comfort is spot on. It does come with extra shoulder padding which helps. Not noted in the video which is worth mentioning about Northgym is that it comes with 2 sizes of midsection straps so you can better adjust the tightness of the vest. Also, the plates are side inserts, not bottom inserts which is nice since there is almost 0% chance the weight falls out, if you don't secure it as firmly as you should ( ie user error)

If you don't need a very specific weight but rather just want to find a way to throw weight into a vest you can go the route of one of the hollow plastic airsoft plates and fill it. Most people I saw online filled it with sand. Filled mine with cement and ended up a bit heavier than the sand. Each plate is a little off from each other but I wasn't really worried about getting everything to match or to a specific weight. They fit into the carriers like real ballistic plates do. The plastic plates were $12 a piece and from there whatever the cost of your fill (sand, cement, plaster, etc) that isn't going to cost a lot. Not the most durable but super cheap.

At my gym we have a Cap fitness style vest that I used one year for Murph; during my pull ups (kipping/butterfly) the sand would come out of the bags and was flying up then down onto my face. That was the year(like 5 years ago now) I bought my 5.11 Tec Tac carrier, this was back when it came with the flat weight plates from Rogue and they were uncomfortable because you felt like a sandwich, I later got curved plates for it and it is awesome now. I have a CAP weight vest. When I need my vest to be heavier, I take my dipping belt and attach it to the weight vest. I run the dipping belt's chain through the nylon straps where the sand bags go in kind of clever way and I can put more weights on the chain. Just saying, you might be able to find a way to add more weight to your vest instead of shelling out for a heavier one.

I like mine. It's just a vest, with thick shoulder straps, so the weight is spread out more, and my shoulders don't feel like they are being slowly cut through. It does not allow for full motion, in that putting my arms straight up, has a little less movement, but not fully restricted. What I like is that the weights are tiny 1 kg bars, about the size of a Snickers bar. this means I can add/remove as much as I want. there are 4 rows of 5. 2 on the front, and 2 on the back, so it's as balanced as I make it. Since it's short bars, it allows for flexible movements more than the plates do

Kensui is the best ever. If you have fractional plates you can microload certain BW exercises. You can alternate laoding do you are getting a broader rep range. Ex: Instead of adding 20lbs to your push-ups and going from a set of 20 to a set of 5... you add .5lbs every week or two and keeping the same rep range.

Cap weight vest: for anyone that's walking and just wants a little bit extra weight this one is easily the best especially with the price. I have some very large clients and walking is about where they have to start and I have three of these vests and it's a super easy way to just get out and move with a little bit more weight. They are so not special but they are essential for my heaviest clients.

Love my titan weight vest. Good price. I don't use it for bodyweight exercises (yet). I use a 20lb vest for steep incline walking. Also with all the ladies you have working at GGR this video definitely warranted a recommendation for the ladies, Coop. Not all vests are made equal.

I've been using miR AirbFlow Weighted Vest 20lbs - 60lbs. I'm in the military and like the weight flex depending on what I need, ether a workout or dead weight for my ruck. It's a lot of weight in a small packet that I can set high. Pushups in this suck, but I have embraced it.

I have a V-Max/V-Force set that I have used for at least 10 years. My V-Max set has two separate vests that can be used in tandem for a load of up to 100 lb. loaded with 2.5 lb ingots. Very rugged, and conforms well to my torso. These have been great for calisthenics-type training.

I'm suprised you didn't get any adjustable max 30kg (66pound) weight wests for the review. They are sold everywhere especially in europe. Heavy, sturdy and fairly priced for the weight. From 100 to 200 euros. With what you had in the review tho', really nice comparison!

I will say, one category that would’ve been cool to talk about is incredibly heavy weight vests. Upwards of 70 to 100 pounds. There’s not a ton of options in this realm, but myself and I know many others by one to train for the firefighter exam. And with incredibly varying prices that would’ve been nice to talk about. But Overall good stuff 👍

I have a 40lb xvest. Very comfortable for pull ups, dips and walking the dogs. It’s biggest benefit is that it goes from no added weight to 40lbs (plus the weight of the vest) in 1lb increments. Why are the plate carrier vests so much more popular than the 1lb weight vests?

I have been looking at the Outdoorsman's Atlas Trainer Frame System, and would have liked that included. It isn't as form fitting as some of the others, but it is a pack oriented style frame that allows for standard weight plates.
