Whoever wrote in pretty pretty PLEASE take your medication! I am Bipolar and it stated at 16, diagnosed at 20 and now am 33. It's probably in the Top 5 most important things I have ever learned is to TAKE THE MEDS. I've witnessed people go off them and how DANGEROUS that really can be. I know it always sounds like nagging when people would say it to me, but it truly is important. I even recently had a med tweak and have now set my phone alarm for 3x a day. Is it a pain in the ass waking up early JUST for meds? Yes. But it is better than the outcome if not taken. Hopefully the phone alarm thing can be helpful to you.

I just added this to my "Be Kind ☺️" Playlist, a collection of videos that help me when the days are darkest. You now share the company of Bree Essrig's "Attention Deficit Depression" spoken word poem and Wil Weaton's UROK testimonial. You and your words are so powerful and kind. Thank you, Matt.

ASMR videos. Breathe in for 10 seconds, exhale for 9, inhale for 7, exhale for 6, etc. Stop what you are doing then identify 4 things you can see, hear and feel.

I've been doing this and it helps. Just going home, taking a 20 minute bath while I watch some anime and drink some tea has definitely helped my anxiety. It wasn't a ground breaking effect or anything, but it made a noticeable difference.

Thanks matt! Last year my grandma passed away, and I guess it was really traumatic. During this time I also needed to have ACL surgery, work and plan my wedding, which then lead to me having a panic attack and then anxiety. I've now started recently be able to control my anxiety. Your right just having some time to yourself helps a lot. Whoever wrote this email to you, I hope they know they are not alone :).

Hey Lieberfriend, I have similar issues, regressive Anxiety ( a form that constantly finds new mental facets to attack: first depression, then agoraphobia, then OCD right now it's changed to a physical one IBS) and hypochondria. It's really hard to do things when you have issues like these. It is. The best way for me to get through it and rise above is to keep doing things. It doesn't have to be big just something everyday. This summer I struggled a bit near the start but I pushed myself to go outside for 5 mins everyday and throw a ball around. Then the week after 10mins, week after 20mins walk outside the garden. Now I'm back to normal pretty much. This worked for me because I did it a my own pace. I took breaks, slowed it down so it's more manageable. I find satisfaction in completing tasks, but sometimes you just need a break. In short. Do something, anything, a goal everyday to keep something going, a sense of accomplishment. But take breaks, it's a marathon not a sprint.

I think in the US they give out meds, but in the UK they just recommend support groups. I remember once I was having very bad anxiety attacks and I wanted relief, like some medication, just to calm me down. Because I knew what the problem was, but I couldn't think straight to handle them and that was what was frustrating me the most. I went twice to the doctor and it was a waste of time, they only recommended support groups on both occasions. Good thing I learned to handle it by myself.

+questionnnn Wow, you went twice, informing your doctor of severe anxiety attacks and they just recommended support groups? That's kinda ridiculous imo. They should have at least suggested it. I feel like it's a little like that in Australia too. Medication really is the last resort. I have had bad social anxiety for years and upon seeing my university psych, she just wanted me to think about it rather than actually do anything. I knew the reason, thinking just makes it worse because anxious people are already overthinking everything. I didn't see her after that and haven't really learnt to deal with it, just coping I suppose. But I guess health professionals are more wary of people overdosing or abusing it or something? I don't know.

+AShadowWolf Yea I went twice told them exactly what was happening and they suggested some support groups only. And online support groups at that. I 100% agree with you thinking about it only made it worse a lot of the times. Thing is, all I wanted was some medication to just give me some sanity, so I could figure out what to do with a sane mind. And they didn't even do that, even though I repeated to them, I was under a lot of stress, to the point the pressure had a vice like grip on my brain and it was giving me headaches. I can understand the concern for overdosing and abusing of the meds, but they could give you a controlled amount just to give you some relief and seek further help. I'm sorry you're still going through that right now, it was like hell for me. Since then I've spoke to my friends and sorted out the stuff that was making me feel that way. I tried writing down on a paper what was bothering me and I drank camomile tea like a lot of teabags in my cup and that seemed to help me cope easier. I don't know if it's stupid advice, but just trying to share what helped me a bit. I hope you get through it soon.

I used to get very anxious and nervous, but now that i transferred high schools most people don't no me and i don't really care. i talk, i'm not shy, it just went away, i just changed myself over the summer...now that i think about it, it becomes even more weird, like i just reformed myself or something.
