the most terrible symptom of mine - intrusive EXISTENTIONAL thoughts, almost 24/7. I'm petrified of space, death, living life. Everything looks so strange, meaningless. I'm afraid my own existence. Is it normal during dpdr?

Your body can, will and wants to recover. Anxiety is cured in months, not days. In its own time. Go out & Live life. You will take time to DESENSATIZE and return to normal. Neural pathways will take time to return to normal/unlearn. Ur body may try and fight it - decondition it, persavire! Acceptance, Allowance.

Very informative very helpful I've been struggling for over a month now.. Dizziness light-headed drunk feeling 24/7. Sensitivity to light. Was also sensitive to sound in the first 2 weeks.. Off and on nausea gas pain. Occasional lump in the throat is hard to swallow.. Headaches consistently neck pain muscle pain stiffness. Brain fog, insomnia for a while, major loss of concentration. Felt like I was having an anxiety attack 24 hours a day.. Amongst many other symptoms that would come and go.. pins needles tingling. Etc. etc. went down to the doctor rabbit hole for a month. 10 different doctors.. With all the same answers thankfully nothing is wrong with you, however whenever I would try to explain all of my symptoms they looked at me as if I were crazy.. I felt like I was going crazy. I truly felt like I was at the end of my rope and was going to die. I felt like I couldn't go out in public I couldn't go to grocery stores I didn't want to drive and so on. Due to the fear of what might happen.. Prior to this I was a health fanatic counted my calories on a daily basis sodium levels carb levels sugar levels etc check my blood pressure was always normal. Worked out 5 days a week. Etc.. during the anxiety my blood pressure skyrocketed my heart rate skyrocketed. Now I have to take blood pressure medication. Anyway this has been very helpful once again thank you. This has been very helpful and informative keep up the amazing work. You never realize how many other people are struggling along with you. I would never wish this upon anybody God bless you all...

For any Christians in the comments section, I highly recommend reading/or meditating on Isaiah 41:10: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” This verse has helped me A LOT in reducing my anxiety lately. Shaan, thank you so much. I’ve been following DARE and other acceptance programs.. they all come with ‘rules’ that felt confusing, and ultimately turned into a form of avoidance by going through the motions, but not actually accepting my current discomfort and pain. Since watching my first video of yours last week, I’ve already seen my biggest improvement. I have felt significantly more anxious at times, followed by the most beautiful moments of clarity and pure joy. Thank you for providing so much help for free. You make me want to go into therapy to help those with panic and anxiety. I’m not in full recovery yet, but I can see the light, and the light is beautiful.

Anxiety itself feels like your foot is stuck in the railway, you are seeing the train whistling, at full speed coming your way. No one around you seems to notice, even if you explain they look at you concerned but they can't do anything about it. You can't run, you can't hide from it, and eventually the train runs you over. You are constantly scared of it happening again, you observe your surroundings constantly trying to avoid it from happening again, you wonder why no one can help you, why do they dismiss you with an "anxiety attack" diagnose and send you back to that suffering. To see people who have overcome this... It's been six years already of this misery, and I'm ready to fight it back. I don't want this to be the rest of my life. Thank you for doing these kind of videos, both of you for sharing your stories.

I have been at rock bottom over the past week feeling there was no way out. When I started this video my head was pounding, palms sweaty, heart racing, having derealization to the nth degree and as I type this after watching the entire video, all of those symptoms have subsided and I feel very relaxed. Like you said, for people who dont know what this is like, this might not seem like a big deal, but its terrifying. You just offered me a way out that no doctor or therapist has ever given me. God bless both of you. Thank you for being willing to be vulnerable and share your stories. People like me wont forget what you have provided here. Also, I ordered the book Kaylee talked about 😊

Acceptance is the hardest thing in the world for me, always has been. It's like a cruel twist of fate that I'm in this state and the only way out is to accept and see it through. I've done it once 3 years ago, took about a year, and then it was like I learned nothing once I recovered. My body is coming back to me saying "no no no you didn't learn your lesson". For me it was bad mental habits and extreme alcohol abuse, drinking until I blacked out every single night for over 2 years and now I'm back in the thick of it. I'm on day 4 with no alcohol and this time it will stick, I'm treating my body and mind right from now on.

Don't fight accept everything. Feelings, thoughts and symptoms. When we're in fight or flight mode, we have a lot of negative thoughts. Stop arguing with thoughts. accept them and let them pass. I'm currently in recovery myself and it takes time to retrain the brain, so it quits firing adrenaline and other chemicals that give us these symptoms. Worrying about your symptoms also is considered second fear that Claire Weeks talks about.

I love positive information regarding anxiety. I owe a lot of my healing to a self help program called Attacking anxiety and depression, Back when my anxiety hit me hard core I was 19 I’m now 42 , there was no google or utube . The program saved me . For me the key to my healing was hearing other people’s success stories. Once I knew I could heal I worked hard to get through it . It is possible to have a good life . Please keep the positive information coming ❤️ I learned that staying on top of the positive outlook on anxiety has helped me to have very few set backs during my life time . always work on yourself. ❤️❤️

Dr. Claire Weekes book Hope and Help for Your Nerves saved me in the 1980s. At that time we didn't have the internet and I didn't know what anxiety was until I stumbled upon her book in a bookstore. Her straight forward explanations and approach to treatment is as relevant today as it was back then. Face, accept, float, let time pass. Don't let the weird sensations frighten you. It's just anxiety playing its tricks on your body and mind. Your nerves are over sensitized. With acceptance, you can face the symptoms, float through it and let time pass to recover. It takes time but it works. Don't hesitate to get medical help while you are recovering. Medication doesnt mean you are weak. Why suffer?

The first part of what u are saying is correct but then u start talking about medication ?? Ask yourself this, are u accepting your anxiety if u take medication to get rid of it ??You obviously hasn’t understood shaans teachings at all. Takings medications to relieve anxiety is a temporary fix and when u stop medication the anxiety will come back. Taking medication means u are responding to your anxiety and telling it u don’t want to be there. What you need to do to get rid of anxiety for good is to just accept that you have anxiety and do absolutely nothing about it, just live your live as you would have before u got anxiety.

Hey Shaan and Kaylee! This is beautiful stuff! I have a very similar story to Kaylee; had a major panic attack in March (just like Kaylee I was in a car haha) and things spiraled downward from that point onwards. Saw my doctor multiple times with no progress as she kept pushing me to try meds which I did try (only once) and had a full blown panic attack followed by prolonged symptoms exactly like Kaylee. Just like you guys I had to cut through all the bullshit remedies and came across Clair Weekes book. Following her floating technique I was able to handle my panic attacks very quickly (in a matter of weeks). It was quite rough sitting through a panic attack and not thinking there was something seriously wrong haha. Anyhow here I am today much better than where I was a couple of months ago but I still have some lingering symptoms that just won't go away. I know it takes time and acceptance but it's been six months and I'm running out of time. I start a new job in France next month and I'm worried moving to a new place and just traveling amid a pandemic would make things worse. The symptoms I'm really worried about are the following: 1- Coordination related problems i.e a floating feeling while walking or standing. 2- I also developed cardiophobia while having anxiety, as my heartbeat would feel really weak and my breathing would slow down whenever I did something that requires intense focus. I have seen two cardiologists and they didn't find anything wrong (even did a stress test haha). As my job requires intense focus (math and physics) I don't know how I will be able to function with the debilitating symptoms I just described. So, I was wondering what would you recommend? Time is not on my side as I have spent the last six months home and I don't think it's a good idea staying home any longer. I tried some CBD for the last 3,4 days and it seems to help with the muscle tension but I have increased anxiety when it wears off. Do you think it's a good idea to keep taking CBD? Anyhow I'm just looking for some guidance and would really appreciate any help. Thanks :)

Along with the attitude of acceptance start with the desensitisation process, learn to control your reaction to your thoughts, this will allow your mind to calm/desensitise enough to put the rest in to practice, it's a great starting point, it's these very thoughts that are keeping you in the loop and keeping the cycle going, just let them be 🙌

Hi Shaan, I’ve been dealing with this anxiety cycle for 2 months but now I would say I’m making huge progress now. I can’t thank you enough for your videos and how your content has really fast-tracked my recovery journey and saved me from so much unnecessary suffering. The turning point in my recovery journey was when I realized that I don’t have to RESPOND to my symptoms with FEAR (because once I stop fearing or ‘hating’ the symptoms, it’s very easy to accept them unconditionally). I hope this helps to those out there still struggling. Just trust the process and stay disciplined (trust me!! The AWARE process in Shaan’s book actually works. I actually was doubting it for some reason but I did it anyway and now I’m out of the cycle and know exactly what to do if I fall back into the cycle again). really y’all will get better for sure.
