In today's video, let's talk about some UNDERRATED brands of ultralight fishing gear on the market that you should definitely check in 2024; these three options are based on my personal opinion, and I ranked them in no particular order based on their prices, quality, brand reputation and many more.
What is an ultralight spinning reel?
A fishing spinning reel is a cylindrical device that is attached to a fishing rod and is used to wind and store lines. Modern fishing reels come equipped with fittings that aid in casting for distance and accuracy, as well as retrieving lines. Ultralight reels are designed to be very lightweight, ensuring maximum comfort during use.
If you pick from this list, you can bet your bottom dollar that you're getting one of the absolute best ultralight spinning reels out there today.

I just bought a Okuma Ceymar OTD tactical green 1000 size. It is a bit smaller than I expected , but it's a great , smooth ultralight reel. I almost got another one to replace a new Lews Smash 3000 . It started grinding and popping. For some reason I got the Kastking Royale Glory. I am impressed with it in every way. It has a high gear ratio , plenty of drag and well made. I think it reminded me of the first fishing combo I brought myself. It is the exact red of a Abu Garcia Cardinal.

I've always been a Daiwa guy. Still rocking three reels...exceler, steez, certate. Love Daiwa reels. Super smooth and durable.

Wowwwww you spent the money on a certate!! Niceeeee.... the only problem with Diawa's to be honest is if you use them a lot... the gears tend to lock up... you always gotta be super conscious of the drag totally loosening on ya or totally locking on ya... but overall, especially for largemouth bass or pond fishing they're great!!! Thanks for all the support!!! And Merry Christmas!!

Im going to get more fish with 2 lbs line. I used 4lib line and still brakes on me when the trout gets in the current stream fishing. my new one that surprised me I got is the UGLY TUFF 10 and bigger 40 size. Ya ZEBCO 33 Tactical and 33 Max is nice to use smooth to use a nice one is Lew's Xfinity 🤔

Hey @jasonlopez4855 thanks so much for tuning in and for the great comment!! Really appreciate it. ahhhhh current adds a different dynamic for sure... especially if you have current and different structures, I can definitely see you getting broke off a little more frequently, BUT as you stated you may also get more bites, because of the lower diameter 2lb line... There's always give and take with the gear. Let me ask though are you using mono with the 4lb?? A good way to add some extra strength if for the shock absorption and stretch with the mono (just a suggestion in case you were using lighter braid or fluoro)... Yeahhhhh I do like the zebcos for teaching the kids for sure, and you gotta love Lew's fishing reels... so smooth, so durable, so affordable... Great shouts!!!! Thanks so much again for leaving such a great comment... I love talking fishing!! Hope your having a great weekend...

What's the heaviest line you would use on an ultra light spinning reel? It's a 3000 size.

HEy @jdawg2474 great to hear from you! Thanks for watching and for leaving the question. To be honest a 3000 size reel I wouldn't consider as ultralight... I'd suggest the Okuma Ceymar C-10 to be honest as an ultralight suggestion, a 3000 size reel holds a lot of line and is meant for some heavier line as well. As far as how heavy the line, this is really up to your personal preference... My preference is always 2lb test line because you will trigger FAR more bites with lower diameter line. I use trout SOS line, but you can use any brand. If you do need some heavier diameter line because you are fishing in very heavy cover or something I would go no heavier than 6LB test line or normal 6lb diameter mono line. I'd also recommend mono line instead of fluoro. Mono has a lot more stretch which is way better for shock absorption of bigger fish, which 100% will hit ultralight. That shock absorption will prevent lost fish even on 2LB test line. Heyyyy @normanchildress5053 Thanks so much for watching the video!! I will say Diawa's are really awesome reels... They definitely have some interesting technologies incorporated into the reels which make them pretty awesome. For inshore fishing if your not going to absolutely beat the tar out of them, they are phenomenal reels. When you test them out, let me know how you like them!! Pinnacle and Shimanos are good reels too though!! ;) Thanks again for watching and the comments!

Sure zebco's are very cheap and they're great to teach kids and even adults how to cast. But they used to be a cheaper reels with guts and were made with metal mounts that added strength and durability to the game. It's that key reason I'll skip them even for kids now. Because I still have old ones that my great great great grands could learn to fish with.

Hey @derrillhutto1152 That is a GREAT shout... I 100% agree with you, the old school Zebco's were made like tanks. Far more durable than today's push button reels. I no longer own one of those old school ones, so I'll have to settle for the $15 dollar plastic one's for the kiddies. Glad you still kept hold of those older ones. thanks so much for watching and the comment!!

hey @raidersuckkok Thanks for tuning in a leaving a comment... This video was really for some less expensive reels as I don't think most people are capable or willing to spend that kind of money on fishing reels. These are also ultralight spinning reels, I don't think Stella comes in any ultralight sizes?? Anyway, I agree that the high end Shimano Reels are quite impressive!!

@raidersuckkok that's awesome info, I didn't realize Stella came in ultra light... I'll have to check that out! Learn something new everyday! ;) yeah 100% agree with any kastking ultra light option. Great shout! Thanks so much for the comments! Out of curiousity, do you use the expensive options for ultra light? Or do you prefer the less expensive but still good kastking type options?
