The BEST Tool to STOP Depression: Depression Skills 3 | Dr. Rami Nader

Have you ever felt like you're stuck and can't achieve the goals you set for yourself? This video will give you a step-by-step guide to achieving your goals and ensure that you succeed in almost everything you set your mind to. The key to success lies in how you think about your goals. We need to shift our focus from outcomes, which we cannot control, to the goals themselves, which we can control. By separating goals from outcomes, you give yourself an opportunity to succeed at everything you do. Here are the four simple steps to follow:
Firstly, be specific about what you need to do in order to achieve your goal. Break it down into smaller, manageable tasks that you can accomplish.
Secondly, think about the goal in terms of your behaviour and define success in terms of what you are doing, not how you are feeling or what others are doing.
Thirdly, have a clear end goal in mind and define exactly how you will know when you have achieved it. This will help keep you motivated and focused.
Lastly, make sure that your goals and expectations are realistic. If you're not 95% certain that you can accomplish the goal, make it smaller. This will help you avoid feeling overwhelmed and give you a better chance of succeeding.

You are soooo right. I've had so many bad counselors bc they had me going to grad school, changing jobs, and yes finding new friends etc..doing these really long term, big things when I am just trying to survive daily life. Taking a shower, helping family, dishes, clutter, making it to work and the worry of what if I can't make it...... I am so sad how much time I've wasted in counseling after watching these videos

Sometimes a person needs to make those bigger life changes, but usually the place to start is with the smaller stuff that's more apparent.

I just commented on the pt 2 video saying the same thing you did! I'm only on my second video and I've learned more than all the therapy, medications, therapists self-help books that I've done in the past 16 years! What a waste of life and time! I have hope now.

I have done videos on goal setting and features of goals two or three years ago, but it's a critical part of this video series on depression, so I wanted to include it for the purposes of the video series. I also recognize that not all people are going to have watched all of my videos, so if it can get out to others who have not seen the prior videos, then that's a good thing.
